Was shocked to notice that SS is leading the NYG in receptions (obv. Burress issues affect this ranking, but still ...). In looking at his games, he's putting up solid possession WR numbers, but is hurt by 0 TDs. Obviously, TDs are one of the most mutable stats in FF, so if he can match or slightly better his reception totals, say snag 40 balls the second half, you gotta figure he is going to score some TDs at some point, maybe 4-5, where does that put him moving forward as a WR?

Certainly rosterable, maybe WR3?

What is most impressive to me about SS though, is he passes the Eyeball Test. When you watch Giants games, it is very clear he is an excellent WR and route runner and has the complete trust of Manning. If he continues to get opportunities, I think he will be a solid WR3 guy down the stretch, the kind you can plug in for emergency and you're guaranteed 7-10 a week (PPR).

Upcoming schedule:

Week 9: Dallas (#16 fantasy defense vs. receivers)

Week 10: @ Philly (#15)

Week 11: Baltimore (#3)

Week 12: @ Arizona (#28)

Week 13: @ Washington (#9)

Week 14: Philly (#15)

Week 15: @ Dallas (#16)

Week 16: Carolina (#7)

One slam-dunk matchup but nothing else that gets me excited.

The rest of the NYG schedule is brutal.....I am glad to see SS stepping up but I'd have to be desperate to try to use him. And WTF happened to Sinorice Moss? Had 2tds and hasn't played since. He was looking like he could break out also.

I think he's the kind of guy you grab on dynasty rosters now. Toomer can't play forever (or can he?), and Plax seems like he's good for a suspension/injury every year.

I thought he looked great as a rookie last year for the Giants in the playoffs, and traded for him in a lot of dynasty leagues. I agree that he looks like he could be a usefull possesion wr in PPR leagues down the stretch. Im not really sure what to make of him long term. Will the Giants want to keep him in the slot or will he play outside after Toomer leaves?(whenever that may be) Will he be like a poor mans wes welker where he plays in the slot and outside depending the formation? I like his talent and hope his targets continue to be steady.

He's a lot like Engram (if you take out the fluke 07 year that he actually scored TDs). He'll be a reliable target & get the receptions, but will very rarely, if ever, score. I'd say he could be a WR3 in a PPR, or a bench guy in a normal league. He's worth rostering over many of the garbage WRs who are only on fantasy rosters because of their names.

I almost picked Smith up 3 weeks ago, but thankfully changed my mind at the last second & took Avery instead.

Wish I could have bet on this. He managed to get both at the same time. :hophead:
