Smith's numbers have already taken a hit, but his TDs have been bailing out owners in fantasy leagues.Week 1-7 Averages (5 games)Receptions: 7.8Yards: 115.2Week 8-13 Averages (5 games)Receptions: 5.2Yards: 76.4My conclusion: If Weinke plays like he has any business being on an NFL field, I'm neutral concerning the impact on Steve Smith.Weinke might throw at him, but probably not to him as much. I think Smith's numbers take a hit, along the Panthers' win/loss record.
I doubt both of them will be covering him.I dunno about Steve Smith this week he will be facing 2 shutdown corners Madison and McQuarters![]()
Wasn't he 34 his last year at FSU?Wow 15 posts and no stupid jokes about how old Weinke is?
He played in a game last year. It was against Detroit, and it was the last drive of the game when Jake got a concussion. Weinke finished the drive with a touchdown. That's not much playing, but Weinke knows the Panthers system inside and out so the game plan shouldn't change much. I hope the play calling does change some, because it has been terrible in the 4th quarter. The conservative approach in the 4th quarter sure hasn't shown good results. I guess the Panthers will just have to lose the rest of the season for the OC to figure that out.The only logical conclusion is that Steve Smiths numbers will decrease, at least this week. Weinke hasn't played in an actual game in how long? That doesn't mean he sucks, it just means the coach will likely rely more heavily on the running game than usual. Thus, a decline in Steve Smiths numbers should be expected.
Holt:Fitzpatrick::Smith:Weinke = follyWeinke has some veteranship, I'll give him that. But I'm unsure here... I think this is an opportunity for the NYG to be a sneaky start this week... Weinke is good for 2 INTs and a fumble..... me thinks.Torry Holt was still doing it last year with Fitzpartrick. I think Steve Smith will be fine with whoever he plays with. He is wide open on half of his big plays anyways.
The NYG have been giving up over 130+ yds to WRs in each of the last 3 weeks. Not exactly shutting anybody down LOL. My apologies if your post was meant to be sarcastic.simmonjm said:I dunno about Steve Smith this week he will be facing 2 shutdown corners Madison and McQuarters![]()
Huh, not sure what you mean.... maybe you mean to individual WRs, since the league median is ~222yd/game.Despite the implosion of the NYG, I believe only one WR who topped 100 yards against them was Marvin in week 1. TO came close. I don't see "shutdown" ...laughing, but I think respectability at a minimum. They "held" Tony Romo to 250 yds, 0 TDs and 2 picks... they're banged up, and are adjusting somewhat. Held TO under 100 and no score... but we'll see TO and Smith couldn't be more opposite in WR-styles.The NYG have been giving up over 130+ yds to WRs in each of the last 3 weeks. Great point... me thinks it won't be right for the rest of the year... and opposing secondaries should be expecting some early xmas gifts...What is the likelihood of Delhomme's thumb lingering the rest of the year? Panther fans expect Jake back next week when the Steelers come to town?
He is expected back next week, and actually hasn't been ruled out for this week, although the chances are slim he plays. He says he is feeling better, and Fox said Jake is one of the guys who doesn't need to practice to play, but they won't play him if it is hindering him at all. It's one of those wait and see things. What is the likelihood of Delhomme's thumb lingering the rest of the year? Panther fans expect Jake back next week when the Steelers come to town?
Week10 Muhammad 7/123/1td..and that was by GROSSMAN!Huh, not sure what you mean.... maybe you mean to individual WRs, since the league median is ~222yd/game.The NYG have been giving up over 130+ yds to WRs in each of the last 3 weeks. I started the thread...I have Holt, Boldin and Steve Smith and must start 2.I am starting Bolding and Steve with confidence and leaving Holt on my bench with a little confidence...If you have steve smith, who can you realisticaly play in his place? Lets face it - if you drafted him or traded for him, you have to start him.
Well, it is Heisman weekend. He's got that going for him.Wow 15 posts and no stupid jokes about how old Weinke is?I think Weinke will do fine. He did well the last time he filled in for Jake.
Since your the thread starter...and starting S.Smith with confidence..why did you start this thread?..Or did the replies make you decide on him?I started the thread...I have Holt, Boldin and Steve Smith and must start 2.I am starting Bolding and Steve with confidence and leaving Holt on my bench with a little confidence...If you have steve smith, who can you realisticaly play in his place? Yep, good catch.... looked up a few games, recalled the rest from memory. Funny as TO, Galloway, Wayne, and a slew of other WRs.... yet Moose and Grossman top'd 100. I was going to yank him for Holt..but after reading the responses here..I gotta stick with SSSince your the thread starter...and starting S.Smith with confidence..why did you start this thread?..Or did the replies make you decide on him?I started the thread...I have Holt, Boldin and Steve Smith and must start 2.I am starting Bolding and Steve with confidence and leaving Holt on my bench with a little confidence...If you have steve smith, who can you realisticaly play in his place? The "only logical conclusion?" Give me a break. It's the NFL, guy... any given Sunday.Smith's number have already been falling off over the last 5 weeks with Delhomme. Smith used to be a given to get 10+ targets a week. That's not the case as of late. Only his TDs have bailed out fantasy owners during this period. Weinke knows the system and it's very, very reasonable to think that the gameplan with a new QB could be 1) run the ball 2) rely on your playmakers. I'm not saying that Smith will go off for 200 yards and 2 TDs, but IMO no one should be expecting less than 5/75 and that's been his average over the last 5 weeks with Delhomme. The only logical conclusion is that Steve Smiths numbers will decrease, at least this week. Weinke hasn't played in an actual game in how long? That doesn't mean he sucks, it just means the coach will likely rely more heavily on the running game than usual. We're talking about the Chris Weinke that is 1-16 as a starter, has a career QB rating of 60, and has thrown a total of 8 passes in the last 4 years, right?Wow 15 posts and no stupid jokes about how old Weinke is?I think Weinke will do fine. He did well the last time he filled in for Jake.
