Steve Smith, WR Carolina (1 Viewer)

After his public comments this past Sunday, do you guys think the Panthers will target Steve Smith more or will it be much of the same. I thought Fox's comments about the double-teams were quite frankly, an excuse. Over the past couple of years, he really hasn't had any better compliment at the WR#2 spot. Sure Mushin Muhammed is older, but come on. I think more of the blame has to be put on the play calling and Jake Delhoumme.

Thoughts, if any?

Fox's comments weren't an excuse. Watch the game films. Last week, they only threw the ball 19 times and ran it 47 times. The week before they ran it 29 times, and threw it 25. Delhomme isn't getting it done, but their RBs have had (a little) more success. They won both games, so why should they try to throw it more? When they do throw, Smith is the usual target. He's 6th in the league in targets per game, with 9.2. He's not catching them, is all. His catch rate is under 50%.Delhomme hasn't been hitting Smith-maybe they could run more screens to him, but I don't know if Carolina is a screen team. They can't try to just make Smith happy, they need to do what it takes to win games.
