Steven Jackson did not have a single reception (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
He played the whole game.

A game in which the Rams trailed the entire way. A game in which Bulger faced a tough pass rush and threw the ball 36 times.

Now that is the weird stat of the day. S-Jax usually catches a ton of little dump-off passes.

I noticed that as well. wow.

And Forte owners, are you starting to worry about Cutler being the Bears QB? Looks like Forte might go from being over utilized to under utilized, just like that.

I don't understand it either...makes no sense. He was too busy fighting with Curry all game to catch the ball apparently

Posted this earlier, exactly what you are saying:

From what I've seen, the Rams need to get SJax involved in the passing game more - not a single reception. The guy is almost faster than anyone on the field and he weighs 240lbs. With a line that will need time to gel, they need to utilize this part of the game better. I liked what I saw form him on the minimal amount of carries, but Bulger rarely checked down to him. He had 14 carries, just not enough, but that has to do with the overall offense being underwhelming, and a lack of offensive scheming IMO. I think I saw enough of the game, but maybe it was the latter part where they were forced to look downfield and abandon short passes and most running plays. Would like to hear the thoughts of others?

The Rams said he was going to be used even more in the passing game this year too. Lol

I didnt see the game so I cant answer as to why.

I'll tell you why, because Bulger refuses to check down he throws into double coverage all the time. His receivers stink. if he starts to throw to Jackson, who was open a lot then the linebackers will creep up and open things up in the middle, but that RAMS offense was the worst thing I have ever seen. Very bad!

I saw a couple instances where he was open, and he didnt check down but forced a throw. Then I saw some instances where there was no time, and threw it at his feet. Bottom line, however, is that the best player on the team needs to touch the ball more than 14 times a game. I suspect that it will be addressed and we'll see him more prominently featured next week.

It's amazing how bad Bulger has become recently.

 Bulger never even looked his way

If I am Spags I am saying to Bulger, when in doubt get it to 39. If the line is awful, you need him to block, but it wasn't nearly as bad as last year IMO (still early though).

BULGER is why.

He was ragged when he had a great stat season by checking down to sjax the whole time in 06. He tried ever since then to not check down unless he has to and has consistenley forced passes down field. Spags won't let that happen again.

I'll never forget that season. I had Holt for the first time in my life. Seemingly EVERY play, he takes the 7-step drop, looks deep to Holt then checks down to Jackson. Play after play after play! So frustrating. Didn't Jackson have like 90 grabs that year?

From what I saw of the game, blame the coaches. SJax would rush for 5 yards then they wouldn't go back to him for 10 plays. They are using him like the Cowboys used Marion Barber last year when Romo got hurt, as a very talented pass blocker.

They said they wanted to use SJax like Westbrook, as a Westbrook owner last year I can say they did, they completely ignored him for long stretches of games just like Philly does with Westy.

Hopefully the braintrust may figure out to get their best player the ball is probably a good thing. They could then let Miami know to do the same thing with Ronnie Brown, he disappeared for entire quarters but did get to play full back for Ricky!?!

Funny you should mention this since I have both forte and Steven Jackson for starters but all is well because I have Willie Parker and Reggie Bush on my Bench :(
