STL radio station reporting Steven Jackson is out this weekend against (1 Viewer)

The way they're playing, I'd probably come down with a groin pull or twisted ankle that lasts until next season. You see this happen in bball on teams that are out of the playoff hunt.

Rams | S. Jackson out for Week 4

ESPNews reports St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson (groin) is out for Week 4.

Of course, it's referencing the ticker as well.....

I might have to downgrade him on the Exploit/Avoid thread...

1. For everyone that was letting go of Antonio Pittman because NO cut him...dynasty league owner might be scrambling.

2. Obviously Brian Leonard is going to get his. Although the way St Louis is playing right now, OL injuries too, I don't think anyone is a great start.

Yikes. Prediction: PAIN

Cowboys will be the #1 DEF for week 4. Bulger will not finish the game.

Definition of irony? Going into the draft, we all thought Holt's knee was the question mark on this team this season.

ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson will miss at least one week with a partial tear of his left groin, an injury sustained in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 24-3 loss at Tampa Bay.

Rookie Brian Leonard, a second-round pick from Rutgers, will get his first start Sunday at Dallas. Coach Scott Linehan said Jackson would be week to week.

The 0-3 Rams learned they lost Jackson a day after guard Mark Setterstrom was lost for the season with a torn left knee ligament and cartilage damage. Setterstrom is the second lineman the Rams have lost this season, after seven-time Pro Bowl tackle Orlando Pace injured his shoulder in the opener.

Linehan said Jackson, who had 115 yards on 30 carries, was hurt making a cut. He said Jackson stayed in the game for a while after being hurt but said it was "noticeable" that Jackson was injured.

So anyone pickin up Leonard in their leagues? I know St. Louis hasnt had much luck running the ball this year, but I'm willing to take a chance on him. Especially since I have Ahman Green and possible he might out week 4.

Depends who you got. Leonard is a bad start but a better one than Michael Pittman for me.

Even if he does come back, I would expect this to heavily affect his cutting ability and/or speed. The really bad part is that since this was released so early in the week, some of us who were waiting for his one solid game to shop him around are now stuck with dead weight.

Answer to my own question:

The treatment for a groin strain is the same as for any other muscle injury: R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression and elevation), and whatever instructions the doctor orders. A grade 1 (mild) strain can take from 2-10 days to heal; 10 days to 6 weeks is needed for a grade 2 (moderate) strain; and a severe strain (grade 3) may require 6-10 weeks for a full recovery.
Ouch. How long does a groin tear typically take to heal??
:goodposting: Another good question. How long can we expect Jackson to be out for? Not that he was doing much when he was in there but this is still going to hurt a LOT of fantasy owners.
Considering he played on it after he was injured, I would say he could be out 3-6 weeks.

Yeah I think I'd want to take more than a week off with a groin tear. Groin injuries are very painful. In my experience, they don't affect your straight line running so much. However when you go to make a cut, you might as well put a blinker on first because it's so exaggerated and slow.

http://www.uihealthcare.com/topics/sportsm...e/spor3335.htmlA groin strain is a stretch, tear, or complete rupture of the muscle called the adductor longus, which runs from the pubic bone to the inside of the thigh bone. Symptoms include stabbing pain, bruising, swelling, and the inability to draw your leg inward. Groin strains recur often if they never fully heal.

Minor strains can be treated with rest, ice, compression, and elevation, a regimen known as RICE. More serious strains call for both RICE and medical care. Recovery time ranges from 2 to 8 weeks, depending on the severity of the injury.

That's the part that worries me, great stuff Keys.

Does anyone have any idea if you think Antonio Pittman or Travis Minor will get time, any playtime. I have one league I have a spot and might take a chance on one of them, even though Leonard is named the starter.

Thanks

3-6 weeks seems about right for this

Leonard will do a great job in his stead IMO, assuming owners have Leonard handcuffed I wouldn't worry too much

Leonard will be a PPR stud IMO -- he runs with solid power as well. He si no Sjax but he should post decent numbers and alot of catches.

also -- I expect SJax to be done for the season ! Seriously -- this isn't a groin pull it's a groin TEAR !

Maybe 6 weeks but he would split carries with Leonard for at least 2 games after he comes back. Sjax = DEAD in terms of 07 fantasy !

LT played through his in 2004 although he wasn't nearly as effective and was usually taken out in the 3rd quarter.

Maybe...but he's not exactly coming into a prime situation. A number of linemen already down...Bruce questionable...Bulger not having time to stretch the field...how long can he hold up?
