I can't help but wonder how far CAT really has to fall from here. Even with a bad quarter, is there 12% downside? Aug $70 puts @ $1.85. Would you hate owning CAT at $68.15?

I'm happy I put real money on ZGNX the other day and not just the stock contest. Special thanks to Em in steering me away from ONVO by picking it.

Almost want to join the LL ride to zero.
Agree.

find a reasonable entry - have a stop in case your wrong.

It won't take much to take this under. Better than 1:10 chance.

And Ref - $.49ft. In what world can $.49 per ft of hardwood flooring happen where there isn't some form of human rights injustice; or some form of human health risk involved; or some form of crime being committed. Good grief the total cost for sending a letter to you is greater than $.49, and the Post Office can't do that profitably. If it's too good to be true you're probably getting cancer from it. Be safe.
I'm scared to get in now... I kept saying, wait a few days for it to even out, but it is just on a straight down ride...

I know the second I go short, the reversal happens.

It was $40 on the 4th and $28 now. What price entry point were you "reasonably" looking for?

edit: Oh for the record - I was looking for $42 or so - I'm not in now either.

I was looking for a small bounce, certainly north of $40... This has just gotten hammered like nothing else.

I bought another 200 ounces of silver today. According to my cousin, that is an expert, it's a really good time to buy right now. I of course agree which is why I was there to buy more but an expert I am not.

I also gave him some more dough to buy rare coins and stuff.

I never advise not buying some metals here and there.

That said I think it's only a good buying opertunity on a long term track. I think we will have the whole summer. Rates are headed up and I think that's bad for the metal market. My luck the DOW crashes next month and the FED anounces QE and I miss out.

Thinking of dipping my toes into this market....

I have a small collection of cash and silver set aside for SHTF emergencies. Being in Earthquake Country, I know I have to keep a small supply of cash and cash-equivalent items on hand in case we need to go a week or two without power, ATMs, etc. Some 1oz and 10oz pieces.

But thinking of putting some investable dollars into the rare coins area. Focusing on just one area for now. I hear Morgans are over-saturated, so looking elsewhere for under-appreciated sectors.
I don't know anything about it. I've given my cousin money in the past to buy and sell as he pleases and has done very well.

Most of you may view as a gamble as opposed to investing, but just bought some ELTP. I posted earlier asking about the chart when it was .21-.22, is now just under .25

Is a pharma co working on abuse resistant/abuse deterrent technology. Have a drug in efficacy stage of phase III, many others in the pipeline as well. OTC stock so definite risk but most of the executive management is from Big Pharma (Actavis, notably). Good thing is they already generate revenues from generics and licensing/milestone payments, so it's not like they just hemorrhage cash. Took a small position of 13,000 shares but hoping to buy more soon.

Are you buying bars or bulk quarters? I have always been a big fan of silver because of the many products that use it in manufacturing.

Mostly 100oz bars but also some 10oz as well as 1 oz rounds I bought a long time ago.

I'm done stocks for awhile, seriously, unless there is a nice correction.
I'm holding way too much cash right now. Frankly, have no clue what to do with it.
Wait for the correction that just has to be out there?

In the years that I've served as Research Director for my dad's portfolio, I think I have made him more aggressive, and he's made me more conservative. He's about 40% cash now, which isn't way out of line in your late seventies, but he's getting itchy. :lmao:

Don't want to always be the bearer of bad news. So I'm just looking at the chart of $SLV. My opinion is that the best hope for $SLV was back in Jan and then it needed to break and hold $18. That it couldn't even tag $18 is bad enough but worse that it's been in a steady weekly decline ever since.

Since I don't want to be the bad news bringer...I'll give you the good news---

It's very likely that you be able to purchase more at a discount (probably significant) to what price is today. Sub-$10 is certainly in play at this point- though the $12 does have some historic support. $18 is where this needs to trade above to feel reasonably safe that a bottom is is.

Taking a big leap at one time, no? 200 at one time is kind of large.

I've been thinking about adding two more kilos. Now is a good time to buy the coins I need for 2015 so I'd pick those up along with the kilos.

Coins =

3 Silver Eagles (2015) not graded

2 Silver Philharmonics (2015) graded MS 69

1 Silver Eagle (1997) not graded just to buy one from the year I graduated high school.

Speculating on DTYS.
Mother####ing Europe ####### this whole #### up...

The rates are going up, they have to... If the Fed stays with this loose money policy forever, eventually the whole system implodes.

Of course the second I bet on the rates going up, they quickly reverse :hot:

I'm holding this one until it hits $30, which will happen one day, I hope...

If rates go back on the down trend, I think I'm buying more of this along the way.

Looking at CAT at these prices. Seems like 80 is a resistance level. If it bounces here I'll dip my toe in. Any technical guys have a guess on the next resistance under 80?

I am NOT a technical guy (and I don't know how you estimate that on a stock that hasn't seen those levels in years. siff?).

It is one of the stocks I keep an eye on, though, and I'll periodically trade some options on it. I tend to think they have 1-2 more bad quarters in them between mining and the dollar. To me that likely translates to opportunities to buy in the low to mid-70s. That might be a tough sell, given that it hasn't been there for about 4 years, but that's my gut feeling. It's also why I went the route of selling puts. If I end up owning it at 68, I think I'll be happy. If it hits the low 70s, I'll keep an eye on it with the potential to pick some up if it shows signs of recovery.

I think mid $30's will be a bottom for oil... I prob take a heavy stake and let it settle long term if crude gets in the $35 range.

Anyone think the Fed removes the word patient??? Last week I was leaning yes, this week I'm thinking no.

I've been waiting patiently to get into oil and UGA myself.

How do you guys feel about Kroger (KR)? It's my blue chip stock, I've got $3,000 in it. It's growth is so steady, it's borderline scary.

Great time to hit energy stocks....bought a lot of BP recently, great dividends with solid upside at a price around 37.

Free money.

How do you figure it's a great time for energy stocks?

Between a strengthening dollar, Saudi's intentional manipulation of prices, everyone hating Russia and the upcoming conflict with Venezuela, I can't figure it. Any commentary on why this might go higher? Don't get me wrong, I love the dividend there, how long have they been paying that out?

I can't imagine it will go much lower, but I'm not optimistic either. It feels like there will be a constant pressure pushing the price of oil down with the new technology that will emerge (fracking, PLUG, FCEL) when the prices get too high. I think we're seeing a big correction right now and could see these prices for awhile?
