Stop bringing your toddler to the movie theater. (1 Viewer)

Saw Jurassic World and someone brought their two year old. The girl screamed for 30 minutes until I asked him if he could please do something. For me to speak up it has to be extremely irritating.

It's just rude.

Who could have possibly imagined that a loud, big-budget special effects extravaganza about man-eating dinosaurs might be upsetting to a toddler? I mean, we can't all be super-parents.

Did he go Walmart Mom on you? Did the 2 year old join in ?
Speaking of Walmart Mom, just like that thread - this one is déjà vu all over again - https://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?/topic/727759-mother-brings-a-20-month-old-special-needs-kid-to-a-movie-the-kid-act/It's the age of self entitlement. Nobody thinks or cares about other people anymore.
If you think nobody cares about other people you should really move.

what he meant is its the age of overreaction and overgeneralization. nobody knows wtf is going on but hey i just read of an incident on a magic football message board and im going to assume the entire world is crashing down around us.

The trolls are out. Must be a full moon. Always interesting who knee jerks the fastest when the word entitlement is used lol.

About 10 years ago we took our 6 year old to see Shrek 2. No lie - couple walks in with a baby in a baby carrier. My wife and I looked at each other and couldn't believe it.

What time did the movie start?
8pm.Why does that matter? At what time should a two year old be in a movie theater for a non-kids movie?
If the kid likes Dinosaurs and it was a Saturday around 2pm then it is perfectly fine. Now 8pm is just selfish and bad parenting in my opinion.
I get what you're saying, but no toddler should be taken to see a movie where dinosaurs eat people alive, no matter how much they like dinosaurs.

deja vu.

I'm waiting for the handful of FFA parents to come out in support of this, as happened in here previously.

I'll reiterate what I said last time.... if the kid can't handle sitting quietly for 90 minutes, they have no place being in a place where that should be the minimum standard. I haven't met a 2yo who can do that (including my own two)- but I"m sure all the proponents of doing this have perfectly behaved, patient and quiet uber-toddlers.

I really don't understand how it's debatable and it boggles my mind how often it happens.

Our five year old is very well behaved and has been most of the way, wish I could say the same for our two year old but that's another story. The thought of him going to a movie didn't even surface til he was four...and it was the midle of the day...at a kids movie...with my mother-in-law. 2 is just hilariously stupid for anyone who wasn't there, and all should feel free to judge.

Yeah there's two aspects of this. The first is that if you bring a kid to a movie, and he/she is screaming for 30 minutes, you need to do something (or leave) because it's rude and inconsiderate.

The second part is that two is way too young for a movie like this.

I was on the opposite side of the other thread on this - the kid with cancer. I thought that that was a kid's movie, which changes things a little (I could be wrong - maybe it was Tomorrowland, but whatever).

If the two year old was well-behaved, I would shake my head, but it wouldn't really be any of my (or the OP's) business. But the fact that the two year old is screaming (justifiably so) changes things.

Bad being-a-part-of-society-ing, worse parenting.

The title should probably be stop bringing your two year old to mature movies.

100% agree with regular movies. I can see taking kids this young to one of those day-time movies that are specifically for kids. They're not even real movies - they're like 70 minute jobs with Thomas the Tank Engine or whatever. I took my son when he was three I think. He was wow'd walking in, loved having popcorn and seeing the screen. There were like five other people there. By around the 50 minute mark he was running around wanting to play hide-and-seek, so we left. No biggie.

That's (obviously) an entirely different universe than bringing a 2 year old to Jurassic Park, which is simply unconscionable.

Disagree with this
:goodposting:

It'd make them more considerate - but still ####ty parents.

I self-identify myself as a toddler. I find the majority of the responses in this thread to be offensive and bigoted.

THINK OF THE CHILDREN

ETA: You know these twits cruised home in the left lane five mph under the speed limit, swerving, while mom played candy crush acting like she was looking at the gps.

Did you think this was funny when you typed it out? You need to step up your trolling game.

My 2 year old really likes murder and torture and clowns so we always make sure to take him to a matinee sessions whenever a new Saw comes out.

I've got a 2.5 year old. There is zero chance I would bring him to any movie. I debated buying Yankees tickets and just walking the stadium with him (with no intention of going to the seats for more than 5 minutes), but passed on this too, prob for at least another year. Floppo is accurate, no 2 year old on Earth will sit there quietly for 2 hours in a movie theater.

Bottom line, any parent that does this is an ####### and should be called out for it.

I feel like a baseball stadium is one place where you can take a toddler.

I know when I go to a kids' movie, my level of expectations for the crowd are extremely low. And I appreciate that you, and others defending this, have added the caveat that "well, when our kid acts up, we take him out of the theater stat". but again- my point is that if there's some uncertainty about whether your kid is going to act up in the theater... why bring them at all? why not wait until they are old enough to sit still and watch the movie?

I am the <1% in this country, but I don't get movies at the theater. I mean, it's at least a $30- outing, dealing with obnoxious people and rat like children, sitting indoors for 2 hours hoping to be entertained, while you can wait what, 2 months, until the film is on demand or streaming crap?

for certain movies, the theater experience is a must.

name a couple and give me why the must.......I want to know why some people have this completely opposite thought of mine.

will answer yours

As a parent of a 2 y/o, no chance I'd take her to see a movie that wasn't a kids movie. And even then, I'd be nervous about her not sitting still the whole time or talking too much. At least with a kids movie, that would probably be the norm for most kids in the theater.

We're friends with a couple who took their 11 month old baby to a bar opening. The bar was smart enough to ask them to leave. Some people just love to take their kids everywhere, which is fine as long as it is kid friendly.

This. I've got a nice flatscreen with a nice surround sound system.... but it's not the same as a theater.

Worst I've seen was actually in one of the older Jurassic Park sequels 2/3. Had a little kid in that age range, but wasn't just being a 'kid' being loud. The little kid was obviously terrified. Was screaming and crying and begging "Mommy I'm scared, I want to go. No more monsters!" over and over. The Mom just ignored him and watched the entire movie.

I just assume that 90% of the time this is just about the parents wanting to see the movie, are too lazy to get or can't afford a babysitter, and can't accept that maybe their lives change a bit after having kids and maybe aren't able to do everything they want to.
