Streaming Kickers (1 Viewer)

Changed out Blair Walsh for Shayne Graham last week and losing those 10 points cost me a W. I hate kickers and defenses and wish they weren't a part of fantasy football.

Just keep rotating until you get a guy that is consistent. IMO, trying to factor in dome vs grass and all that other stuff is just pointless. Obviously if there's a major snow storm then there is an exception, but otherwise just stick with a guy if he's putting up 6-7+ points every week.

I usually draft a guy and then by week 4 or 5 try to get whoever the good kicker is his year. Streaming kickers is too unpredictable.

Only stream kickers if you want to screw yourself. Pick a guy and go with him all year, take the good with the bad and you will have a few big weeks. Streaming anything in my opinion usually doesn't work because fantasy is usually pretty hard to predict. If you have to steam, go with someone who has been doing terribly because his bad luck is bound to end.

I'm streaming kickers for the first time this year and it's been terrible. I'm essentially chasing last week's points and getting burned every week.

Drafted Vinetari

Week 2 - Picked up Succop ( was #5 ranked kicker)

Week 3 - Picked up Carpenter (was #2 ranked kicker)

Week 4 - Picked up Parkey (is #1 ranked kicker)

I usually don't. Just too random.

I think this year, it looks like if you want to be par for the course and don't worry about knocking a homerun OR being at the bottom every week, jump on the Dolphins, Steelers, Cards, or Bills kickers and just take what comes of it.

I'd advise against this strategy.

streaming kickers is impossible to predict. Most of the time I follow Herman's rankings and even that fails me the majority of the time.

I agree streaming kickers is a crapshoot, but I stream defenses a lot (if I drafted an underperforming defense), it definitely works out better for me than sticking with an underperforming defense.

If you're streaming kickers, you're better off doing research on which teams have good red zone defenses (bend but don't break defenses) and play the kickers matched up against those teams. Granted it's always better to have a kicker on a team with good defense, decent offense. No team is going to kick field goals when they're down by a whole bunch.

However, I've found the effort to be unworthwhile. Kicking is just too random to make a science of it.

Love that gamblers fallacy :)

any of you guys stream kickers at all?

How are you picking which kicker you want for that week?
I typically just take a guy at the draft that's on a good defense (Gano this year) with a bad offense (they win field position wars, buts it's all just theory anyways) Week 5 I'll take the best performing week 4 bye guy and finish the year with them. I basically spend $1 FAAB on kickers for the year.

It's a lot of extra work. Streaming defenses basically comes down to picking decent to good teams playing the worst offenses and looking ahead to the right matchups.

Streaming kickers well is more difficult. First you need enough of a season of stats to see who allows what points to kickers. And then you have to hope they play on a good but not great nor bad offense. You don't want XPs, you want FGs. Then you have to match a pretty good scoring kicker with a not so great but not too bad team playing a team that allows points to kickers, say after having enough stats over 3-4 weeks. Averages are not enough, the opponent has to allows decent points almost every single week for this to pay off. And then the kicker has to be a free agent. If he's on a pretty good offense he probably will not be available. And you need a kicker with a good FG%, you don't want a guy who misses FGAs. There are far fewer decent kicker matchups than DST matchups. Go ahead and try it for this week, see what you get. For instance, this week if Novak is available this week he looks pretty good. But I just checked, he is owned in my league. Etc., it's not easy.

Like I said not worth it.

Streaming seems like a huge waste of time.
Why? I have never NOT streamed kickers.

Wait until waivers are over, look at the FBG rankings, and pick up the highest ranked kicker on the board. Costs nothing.
If I look at Dodds Graham is the top ranked FA kicker in one league at No. 6. Bullock is the 6th best FA at no. 17. - If I look at Herman Graham is the 8th ranked FA kicker and comes in at No. 18. Bullock is the best FA at No. 6. - Good luck with that.

I always just pick the kicker that has a somewhat a decent offense that can move the ball that can not finish in the red zone for example Dallas is one of them. Buffalo and jets are others but come with some risk because ethey can completely stall so you have to look at who they are playing and make sure its not a great defense. This week I'm going with Carpenter so hopefully this works well. Its kind of Russian roulette sometimes it pays of huge and you get a great game by a kicker. Other times you get 2xp and that's it but so far I'm 3/3 for streaming kickers haven't gotten less than 10points from my kickers this year.
