Started "Bloodline" tonight and liked it quite a bit. it gets the feel of the troubled family dynamic rather well.
I'm on episode 6 so far, really enjoying it. It's not for everyone though. Slow pacing, very atmospheric, very deliberate unveiling of major plot points. Not a show I can binge watch, but it's a better show to watch one every day or two and let it marinate.

Just finished this over the weekend, thought it was excellent and I won't give anything away yet. Just hope they make another season.

I liked it a lot as well, but thought the last episode wrapped up a little too neatly. I certainly think they left it open for another season.

I also liked Bloodlines. Are spoiler tags OK in this thread?

Just started The Tudors.
Wife got me hooked on The Tudors... all the gratuitous sex was a good selling point. Quite interesting, but by season 4 it's played.

ETA: I used a quote from The Tudors on my wife... "You know what I want... Do it!"

The queen in the show proceeded to give the guy a bj... didn't work out quite the same for me :kicksrock:

I don't have Netflix, is "A Serbian Film" streaming on it?
Ugh, hopefully that trash isn't on Netflix.
Why is that?
Seriously? This film is regarded among even torture-porn enthusiast as being extremely unsettling.
So just because you don't like something it is immediately "trash"? Got it.
You're right, I was putting my personal belief out there regarding films that show extreme violence, rape, and dismemberment in exquisite detail. Oh, and apparently this film includes a baby involved in some of those acts.

So yes, IMHO it's trash.

Ah, so you formed this opinion on something without watching it? ;)

Is there an objective definition of 'trash'?

Just had to clear my imdb history after looking up that film that lurch mentioned. Between that film and the ones it suggests in the "You might like" section, I was pretty damn disturbed. What kind of creepy bastards watch those kinds of movies?

So just because someone likes to watch a movie like this, you label them as "creepy" and "*******"?

Not understanding why some might feel that way doesn't lend support to the notion that they are not creepy bastards.

And to bring it full circle, the reason I'm glad it's not on Netflix is that anyone of any age can watch anything on Netflix. I'm not saying that these kind of movies shouldn't be made (as long as no one is hurt IRL).

It would be nice if there wasn't a market for this kind of stuff, but alas there is.

I completely agree. The very presence of these movies and the fact that folks like you actually want to suggest it's not creepy to watch them is very sad.

That was likely intentional because they do not know if it will be renewed for a second season. There is still enough intrigue to make me want a second season. I had the distinct feeling someone was watching when the drugs where planted in Danny's Miami apt.

i finished the second episode last night. it's still very good but i can see the "Damages" fingerprints all over it now. that's not necessarily a bad thing either. still some very good performances to enjoy. Also, Chloe Sevigny has a nicer body than I gave her credit for. She's interesting-sexy and not hot-sexy.

Yeah, she's kinda trashy hot. Blows my mind that she's been naked in everything she's ever done it feels like, including giving an actual bj on screen, and yet in this she's just a tease.

Pretty sure it was real. No prosthetic. Girl swallowed, too, a real champ.
Yeah, unless they've both been lying all these years, that was real. Her boyfriend was the actor/director I believe. They wanted it to be real "for the art".

we watched frequencies last night and me and my wife both liked it so hey there you have it brohans

Never heard of The Brown Bunny but this is awesome.

A war of words then erupted between Gallo and film critic Roger Ebert, with Ebert writing that The Brown Bunny was the worst film in the history of Cannes, and Gallo retorting by calling Ebert a "fat pig with the physique of a slave trader."[6] Paraphrasing a statement attributed to Winston Churchill, Ebert responded with, "It is true that I am fat, but one day I will be thin, and he will still be the director of The Brown Bunny." Gallo then claimed to have put a hex on Ebert's colon, cursing the critic with cancer. In response, Ebert quipped that watching a video of his colonoscopy had been more entertaining than watching The Brown Bunny.[7]
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: GB Ebert.

I should watch the first US episode.

lol... the French music- I loved (I think it was by some well known electronica dude) , but IIRC they could only afford one song which got played over and over all season.
I'd be interested in hearing your take on it.

I doubt it'll compare well since you got immersed in the French version and I only saw one episode. It wasn't so much the songs but I noticed the score during the creepy parts and I didn't in the US version. Although some people have a problem with that when they notice it, like with There Will Be Blood, which I loved.
I watched the 2nd episodes of the US version of The Returned and most of the French version. Definitely like the US one more and will stick with that. I had to turn the French version off with about 15 minutes left because they were showing things that have not happened yet in the US version.

The boy is creepier in the French version.

The writing and storyline in Bloodline is a cross between a soap opera and sons of anarchy. It is so excruciatingly slow that it is painful.

The camera angles and shaky camera effects just wreak of trying too hard.

that phrase reeks of trying too hard.

:goodposting:

We are enjoying the show, 9 episodes in. Kind of wish they had not had the flash-forwards, but I am enjoying the ride, and like the pace.

I thought for sure there would be discussion about "Bojack Horseman" in this thread or even have it's own thread. Well, i was Re-watching "Bo-Jack Horseman" and caught this one that I missed before.

Mr. Peanutbutter gives Todd a Business card that reads: "Todd Chavez, Executive VP of West Coast Operations"

Todd: "Whoa, does that mean I can stop the Waves??"

As "Walking on Sunshine" is playing in the background.

Watched the first episode of Kimmy Schmidt. I remember people mentioning that there was one really funny scene but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what that was. Didn't laugh once.
