Streaming or currently airing TV shows (AKA Netflix thread) (29 Viewers)

We watched both seasons of The Frankenstein Chronicles w Sean Bean. Pretty good overall with some quality acting and period art direction plus interesting take on the subject. Kept getting it mixed up with The Alienist, which was also a decent watch (on TV now)

Started and finish The Take last night... 4 episodes roll along like a lengthy movie with timely intermissions. Obviously, recommend. Oh yeah, Am Prime, btw.

Yea.. Like i said.. You either Hate it or love it, there is no in-between. I will say the first episode had me questioning whether I would continue or not. But gave the 2nd episode a shot and I was hooked.

Yeah the premise is ridiculous of course (and the puke scene in the first episode was tough to watch) but the humor is really quirky and the acting is real good, outside of Barrymore.
Just started watching Santa Clarita diet yesterday, 2 episodes in and I like it enough.

Sort of an iZombie with family, but funnier. Abby is the highlight so far.

Sneaky Pete (on Prime)

Really liked the first season.  Season 2 is disappointing.  Kept wanting to like it but it had too many moving parts to keep up with and lost interest in some of the characters that I liked in S1. Also it was far more unbelievable than S1.

I watched the entire season and was entertained but it’s not close to being as good as S1.

caught Icarus today

interesting but i think the hype i heard prior was a bit much.
I watched it last night and thought it was great.  Small time documentary maker gets mixed up in international conspiracy involving the KGB, FBI, and Olympics.

Recommend you DON'T see movie, The Titan. Complete mess. I think it was written by somebody for whom English is a second language.
Funny, just coming here to post the same. Watched it last night, had some potential really went nowhere and the last 15 min or so of dialogue with the lead characters? RIVETING! WTF?

Maybe they were going for a Castaway feel   but it didn't work, at all...ever.

Yeah, wtf was the guy supposed to do on Titan anyway?  Just swim around?

Finished up Mindhunters. Glad I stuck with it after the first episode, which was a little rough. I wouldn't say it is a great show but worth watching and will be back for season 2. Loved the use of Zeppelin in the finale!

Watched Collateral over the weekend.  Good show, your typical British crime/police drama with a little social agenda mixed in.  Only 4 episodes so it's a nice quick watch.

Started Seven Seconds and have gotten 4 episodes in.  I like it.  My wife likes it but not as much as me.  It is on the slower side (although we just hit an interesting event and I think things will pick up).  It's from the same maker as The Killing and has the same kind of feel and look to it (dark, blue filter like appearance, slow burn with a build).

Anybody else watch Into the Badlands?  Enjoyed it for the most part.  Binge watched the rest of season 2 last night.  Last episode comments:

I thought the final fight between Sonny and Quinn was super cheesy.  Sonny ran through 100 fighters like soft butter and then he can't seem to finish off this half dead baron?  As he walked away from him, I screamed "Cut his head off!!"  But still, a guy with a massive brain tumor who has been stabbed through twice can somehow just get up and hold onto the girl with a knife at her throat?  Lame ending to a great series.

I don't know why but someone will ##### if i don't put this in spoiler tags so...

Well yeah, I mean the dude turned into a fish, and apparently a bat, by the end of it all. I think they were hoping he'd get a little bow chicka wow wow going with the her version of him. You know, right up until they wasted that $300 million investment.

The Tunnel season 2 was just released at Amazon. I thought season 1 was marginally better than most the Brit/Euro crime dramas I've been binging. Not in Broadchurch category, but a step up from most.

I'm guessing it was mentioned, but....The entire Monty Python catalog coming to Netflix in April!

spam, spam, spam, spam, spam and spam!

My wife has said she'll try and watch with me. "Prognosis Negative" Shes kind of liked it through the years. Doesn't hate it. She said she liked it but some of it was too childish. Which I replied: "Some?" Greatest comedy group of all time.
Holy crap! I literally was just perusing this thread and was going to ask where I might be able to watch Life of Brian on streaming. Couldn't find anything on canistream.it.

Awesome.

Kid movie review here after Saturday night family movie. "The Adventures of Tintin" is one of the more interesting animated kid movies I have seen. Spielberg directed it and it obviously is a labor of love for him. It's the kind of classic, globetrotting action adventure that he relished as a child. It's a bit of that for me, too, because I grew up reading the comics. Good cast - Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig - lending their voices to digital animation that captures the style of the comic books but is also very lifelike. Definite, discernible upgrade over Polar Express. Supposedly there is a sequel planned with Peter Jackson giving it a go.

Watched Nacho Libre with the wife and 13 year old son last night as part of our celebration of "Easters".  If you have a pre- or young teen boy this is a perfect movie.  He has seen it before but about wet his pants for much of this movie.  Hard to find a more funny first 20-30 minutes of a movie anywhere imo if you like dumb humor and over the top accents.

I like to cook and tend to like shows and movies about cooking and/or chefs, both documentary or fiction.  I watched "42 grams" which is about a Michelin star winning chef and how he started a restaurant called 42 grams in Chicago.  What a boring piece of crap about an arrogant #######.  I like shows with this premise and I thought it was horrible.  Don't recommend.

I still use "get that corn outta my face!" at least weekly.

I watched with the kids not too long ago and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I was a big Tintin comic fan as a kid, so it was fun to see it come to life

I wanted to thank those who recommended Halt and Catch Fire. Three episodes left. Amazing show.
Wife and I have almost finished this, 3 episodes left in S4 also. What an interesting enjoyable show. We loved it, probably me slightly more than wife.

So much nostalgia as well as insight into the IT revolution. I found the dramatic interpretations of intelligence, genius, innovation, etc fascinating. And they did it all while maintaining a compelling story with characters you become invested in.

We thought there were a few instances where character motivations/behavior were askew but those were easy to overlook.

I actually took my older daughter to see this in the theater when it came out, and watched it with my younger daughter this weekend.  Always disappointed there was not a sequel, or even a series of Tintin movies.

This show really improved as the season went on and made great use of music they chose. Looking forward to season 2.

I'm 6 episodes in to season 2 and like it a lot but I'm a sucker for Kung Fu movies. I'll come back to your spoiler when I finish.

Warning Will Robinson! Warning Will Robinson!

While usually not a fan of remakes this one stirred very fond memories of the '60's TV show. After watching the trailer I wondered about the robot. I seem to recall the robot was on board the Robinson's space craft from the get go and worked with Dr. Smith and Will. In the trailer it looks like Will discovers the robot on another planet and befriends him?

Fun fact: the kid who plays Will Robinson in the reboot lives around the corner from me.

Have you ever taunted him?

"Going home to Mummy?"

That's very cool. He had a much better childhood job than me, newspaper slinger was a drag.

Edited to add, sorry- on first read I thought your neighbor was Mr. Mumy.

Non-netflix post.

Anyone watch The Alienist on TNT or start The Terror on AMC?
I gave up on the Alienist. I normally like period pieces, but this one just didn't keep me interested.

watched the first 2 episodes of the Terror and it's pretty good so far. I know a little of that story already, so I'm more interested in how they tell it.
