Earlier in this thread krista called this show laughably bad, which made me second guess myself because of her typically rock solid opinions. But I really liked this series, too.
The reviews seem to be more about outside concerns than the actual show hence the huge divide between critical reviews and regular folks.

I am absolutely loving this one. Started it like two days ago and I'm already up to the finale. The weird stuff might be off-putting to people who maybe don't think that sort of stuff belongs in a crime mystery drama type show, but otherwise it's been excellent so far.

Mr krista and I might be the minority here. Despite not enjoying the last couple episodes (but did like the first few), I do think the acting was really solid throughout, so at least we might agree on that.

Just finished ep6 of The Bear.
Have quite a bit of restaurant experience in my younger days. The first couple eps I felt like I just worked a 12 hour shift constantly in the weeds. WoW!
And now I get the "ketchup on dogs" jokes that have been circulating.
Wrapping it up tomorrow and then moving on to The Old Man (we just got Hulu back).

Anyone else watch The Wheel of Time on Prime? We're three episodes in and impressed so far. It's Lord of the Rings type fantasy/action.

I found it enjoyable enough, but I never really read the books. My low bar for fantasy TV is probably the Shannara stuff, and this is definitely better than that.
I think there’s a separate thread on this. Reaction seemed to be mixed. I thought it was OK.

We’re up to 6 episodes, it’s brilliant. The lead character is a rookie attorney with autism (IQ 164), encyclopedic knowledge of whales, started memorizing law textbooks as a child.
Feel good comedy with occasional moral dilemma.
Not the best, but decent enough that I’ll watch more. I never read the books either but hopefully it will pick up. The younger characters are the weaker part of the show. Kind of like Hayden Christensen versus Ewan McGregor.

It took me a minute to get past seeing Lip (
) without the rest of the gallaghers but the season was awesome. His brother had such a small amount of screen time but (not naming) he is one of my favorite actors and completely makes his screen time memorable. in fact i’d say he is one of the best supporting actors of the last 10 years.

Loved this but I've devoured every book Jack Carr has written in the series so I'm biased. I will say they made this as realistic as possible given the unrealistic plot. Many retired SEALs in the show as well as on the set consulting. The series is about as true to the book as it can be. Big fan, hope they do them all. So far 5 books.

I watched it while starting the book series. It's cool to see characters take life but as close as Terminal List came to reproducing the book for film, I don't think Wheel of Time did. That said, if you're just watching, it makes total sense, flows well and was done pretty well cinematically.

We have two episodes to go and love it. Makes me nostalgic for Chicago, and the characters are fantastic.
They are clearly setting this up to be "Mr. Beef" on Orleans St., since they showed the Green Door Tavern, which is next door to Mr. Beef, going out of business. (It has not, thank goodness.) My first home purchase in Chicago was exactly two blocks east, so I am especially loving all the River North stuff. We didn't have drive-by shootings in that neighborhood, though.
There are a lot of little things like that that a Chicagoan will know aren't accurate (another example: driving an hour to get caulk when there's an Ace Hardware about six blocks directly south and a Home Depot a mile or two NW), but who cares. It's like a love letter to Chicago in a way, and I 
that.

Just watched episode 7. Felt so stressed and realized it was all one shot?!? Mr. krista said it was beautiful filmmaking but he thought he was going to have a heart attack. Created a sense of urgency and absolute despair.

I started watching and got through about 1.5 episodes and just started losing interest. Not exactly sure why...think I just got bored by the losing his memory slog? I just know once I start playing on my phone during a show, it's over. Was everyone else who loves this enthralled from the start or does it get better and I should stick with it?

I think that was partly it. Felt all over the place and zero flow. Boring scenes into random flashbacks into overly long gun battles who I have no idea who the good guys and bad guys are.

I'm 3 episodes in. Definitely not "enthralled," though I'm intrigued enough to continue at this point. Sucker for stories featuring unreliable narrators, so interested to see where this ends up. Not in any super rush to finish, so I guess that means I'm still a bit on the fence.
Saw The Gray Man in the theater today (it streams on Netflix next weekend). I really liked it. It’s got a Bourne Identity vibe to it. Lots of guns and fight scenes with a few jokes mixed in. Several household names in the movie (Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Billy Bob Thornton, etc).
Definitely recommend it.

He'd read some other chef saying it "wasn't realistic" and went on a rant about how of course it wasn't entirely realistic, because no one wants to watch two hours of someone chopping parsley, but that it was still the closest to a real restaurant he'd ever seen portrayed. Something about how the only other situation with people in close quarters with such pathos would be in prison. He's still having nightmares/PTSD about episode five with the tickets coming out non-stop.
We both loved it. Can't wait for another season and hope they can keep it up.

I somehow never paid any attention to talk about The White Lotus, but my wife wanted to watch it after seeing all the Emmy nominations and reading good things about it. Just finished the chore of watching it and looked back on this thread to find mostly good things being said. I don't get it, but I guess it just wasn't my cup of tea. At all. We didn't like the first couple of episodes but thought it must get better, so watched a couple more, and then only finished because we had gotten that far.

agree with this. Great show. Best thing I've seen in a long time.
Mare of Easttown. If I knew it was a detective in small town show wouldn't have bothered. quit after 2 episodes.

I'd say give it a chance but I'm biased so take it with a grain of salt. The plot advances and does come together but it is a little choppy at first. I'd say episode 3 on it starts to become more followable and eventually makes sense in the end. I wasn't a fan of the memory thing but I don't know how else they would portray it either so I have no solution for that.

I thought Mare of Easttown was pretty good although a bit too similar to Broadchurch, which was better, imo.
I am in the same boat. Had a couple chuckle moments but overall it was just kind of meh. Might be expectations as it was supposed to be great but just didn't do anything for me.

Totally agree. Thought it was incredibly stupid and basically went nowhere. Pretty much every character was a completely horrible person, which I GUESS was the point?
I just have no idea what it was trying to be. It wasn't particularly funny. You had nobody to root for. Yeah, the ending was a twist because the character that died wasn't who they hinted at in the first scene...but who cares?
Just complete meh for me.
