Streaming or currently airing TV shows (AKA Netflix thread) (34 Viewers)

This probably doesn’t fit the typical post in this thread but….

Diane Sawyer Interview with Jeremy Renner (Hulu)

I don’t even know what network it aired on originally I can just say I found it streaming on Hulu.
For anyone interested in such stories, this was good. I could be a little negative on the “production” of the interview for being a little too dressed up for a prime time program bringing in neighbors and Doctors and First Responders, but they were actually pretty critical to the story and added a lot to it.

I’ll say this, after hearing the list of injuries he sustained and all the metal he now has inside of him, it’s really amazing how good he looks now and how well he’s moving. He’s made a miraculous recovery!

We watched it last night and it was really good. For him to be alive is amazing. Hearing him in the background of the 911 call was tough.

Watched Kindred on Hulu. I thought it had a great premise, and first couple episodes were solid. But it didn't really feel like it went anywhere. Not sure I'll tune in for a second season.

C.B. Strike - Anyone ever watch this show? I'm about halfway through the series. I've enjoyed it. But I very much like detective shows/mysteries. Its kind of like a poor man's grittier Sherlock.

ETA: Its based on some JK Rowling books, I guess.

It's decent, not spectacular or anything. It's kind of in my wheelhouse too.

Murder Mystery 2

Quite enjoyable.

Nothing original or deep about the plot, (every twist and red herring is spotted a mile away) but you understand why Aniston and Sandler have sustained fame for thirty years: charisma and tremendous chemistry.

I would watch a film of those two just riffing off each other.

I just listened to a podcast talking about Ticket to Paradise that said almost exactly the same thing about the movie, Julia Roberts, and George Clooney.

well - we hammered through Larry Sanders ...and i cannot recommend it more highly ...omg, so good

kind of bummed it's over, Gary Shandling was a genius.
Garry sure was. I'm not sure where to find it, but "It's Garry Shandling's Show" is worth checking out too. Very different from Larry Sanders, but still genius.

ETA- Forgot to mention earlier, the documentary "The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling" is a great watch too.

Top Gun Maverick was on Prime. good movie imo, probably better in the theaters. Billions is on as well been binging that one.
Maverick was 10/10.

Billions season 1-3 was solid gold….I bailed after season 4.

Meantime we finished You (all 4 seasons). Loved it.

About to finish up season 4 of Fauda and honestly it is one of tue best shows on television. Just a gritty, intense experience each and every episode.

Watching Lord Of The Rings The Rings of Power on Amazon and we are two episodes in and Loooooove it.

Succession is next in the que.

Also going to watch the Waco Documentary this week.

Watched the Netflix MH370 documentary. It was pretty good but they really wanted to push the more conspiracy based theories. Anytime they convinced you that a theory that was being presented made sense, they'd throw a wrench in that made you question everything. There were also a few pieces of info that were presented that were subsequently pretty much ignored.

Agree. Way too much conspiracy theory jargon.

Caught the Waco docuseries on NF. Thought it was very well done.
Caught this over the weekend. Thought it was excellent!! What a fascinating cluster f&#@!
I liked how they presented both sides and allowed the viewer to decide who was at fault. Left me feeling really bad for the negotiating teams. Seemed like they were left hanging out to dry multiple times. I'm sure there were weapon laws broken, but they never explained what specific law was broken that led to initial raid.
The only talking head that annoyed me was the woman from the Dallas Morning News. I yelled "STFU" at my screen a handful of times when she was on.

The one line in the program that struck me: "We're coming in and dropping tear gas, this is NOT an assault?"

Tetris (Apple+)
Based on the true story of smuggling the most popular video game out of the Soviet Union.
I liked this movie. It was fun and had a couple of good suspenseful chase scenes. I probably would have liked it more if I knew the first thing about licensing and legal rights to selling gaming software. There was just too much terminology I didn't understand. However, I just tried to follow along as best I could, and I still enjoyed it.

Beef has been shockingly good so far (about 4-5 episodes in) and has outstanding reviews so far on RT (100% critic and I think 95% audience scores).

Ali Wong is excellent and so is Steven Yuen.
Finished it. A lot of it was fun. A lot was serious, especially toward the end. Could relate as sometimes you just can't stop yourself from continuing down a path even though you know it's counter productive.

wrapped it up last night.

really well done. maybe glossed over some things but all in all well done, i thought.

was interesting to find out how Koresh rose to his position. i always thought he founded the thing. guess not.

I guess Waco is the series that aired several years ago but Showtime is showing it to lead into their followup.

Same. I had no idea it had been in existence for so long prior to his arrival.

Just finished night agent. Basically a very, very light version of 24. After watching the entire 24 series, it was a rather big letdown. Definitely will not commit anymore time to subsequent series.

we started the 1st couple eps of Rabbit Hole on Paramount+.

Kiefer doing 24ish spy things where nothing is what it seems... maybe. decent enough start, so we'll keep going- hopes aren't super high though.

I don't know how many have read the book "Wool" but Apples adaptation comes out next month. Renamed Silo for the show. I'm not sure how I feel about the direction it appears they are taking Tim Robbins character, but will watch.

changed my emoji from a "huh?" to a "thanks" because this looks like it could be fun. never heard of the book or the show. at first blush... it's coming across as a one-note mystery (what's out there?) so I'm hoping it's more layered to that instead of just waiting for that specific answer.

Actually a very good trilogy of novels. Way more than one layer.

I read Wool a few years ago and actually just started Shift. It's unclear if they intend to adapt the entire triology.

I really liked the Recruit on Netflix for the first few episodes, but by the end of the season I was hate watching it. Disappointing.

I hope I recommended Fauda here. Excellent Israeli action/political show about an elite anti-terrorism unit. One of the stars actually did this for a living, so it seems fairly realistic. And while the main characters are Israeli, the show is fairly evenhanded - and it makes a point of using Palestinian characters that aren't simply stereotypes.

Didn't see this mentioned:

Jury Duty (Amazon): A fake trial with actors and one jury member who isn't in on it. I think the creators of the Office were involved (it feels very Officeish). I've watched all the released episodes and am hooked. Very well "acted" and hilarious at times.
Thanks...this looks like fun.

Listen (Hulu & ESPN+)
The true crime story centered on the murder of University of Utah student Lauren McCluskey.
Excellent reporting and storytelling for the entire 90 minutes.
Searched for Listen on Hulu and nothing came up. Are you sure it is on Hulu?

Through 2 episodes and I’m enjoying it. Everyone being interviewed about the guy who got injured was hilarious. When they all kept pulling out their paper cranes… :lmao:

lol Im currently hate watching The Night Agent. Got one episode left.
Watched the first episode and not sure if I should continue. Time to bail?
of the Recruit or Night Agent.

I pulled the plug on the latter. don't think I know the former.

so it's a Joe Schmo show... but set in a jury? Does the juror think it's real?

Yes. He 100% thinks it's real. The Jury gets sequestered, so it jumps between the courtroom, the jury room, the hotel and a few other places.

It's certainly scripted, but I have to believe that a lot of it is improvised.

Never heard of Joe Schmo...I'll have to investigate.

Yes it's basically Joe Schmo in a courtroom
