I finally got around to starting Marvelous Mrs Maisel last week. I just assumed it was going to be like Hacks and Fleabag, which were both funny shows, but it is so much more. It has the production quality of Mad Men, and after 2.5 seasons I think I would rank it pretty high up on my All Time Greats list.

(I haven't read anything online about it as I have found that no matter the show people tend to eventually turn negative towards them and I prefer to binge with no expectations. Maybe it falls off a cliff and my initial take sounds ridiculous, but so far I am loving it)

Big-time sci-fi or "spy action" (like Jack Ryan) fan here. Just finished Ahsoka. Anything recent that's on either Netflix or Amazon worth checking out? I have some travel coming up and I like downloading stuff for my flights. May just grab a couple of movies that look decent but open to starting a new series.

It's an undertaking and a grind at times and not on Netflix or Amazon, but I thought Foundation on Apple TV was a worthwhile sci-fi watch. Found it close enough to Dune that I just wanted the second Dune movie to come out more.

I'll second this. Foundation is excellent.

How do the books compare to the show? Was just about to start the first prequel. Thx

I personally have not read the books although I mean to. At this point, I'm going to wait until the show is over and read them.

My wife, who is a bigger sci fi nerd than I am, has read the books and says they're fantastic.

It's good... And I enjoyed how they brought the Poe into it. I didn't enjoy how the episodic conceit played out in the short term ep to ep... But it makes sense in the overall story arc.

Shoresy season 2 is out on Hulu. I watched the first 4 episodes. I'm a hockey guy, but it was a little too hockey-heavy. Pretty much switching back and forth between low-level hockey and lingerie shots. Now that I describe it that way, it's better than I thought.

Stumbled upon Lucifer. Through the first season. It's entertaining so far. Not a lot to it but an interesting take on the devil.

Watched most of s1, maybe into s2. Got very repetitive and didn't go anywhere for me so I dropped it. Mazi was a lot of fun.
Heard it kind of goes off the rails into S3 though.
S1 was good though.

Finished off the series. It does change quite a bit throughout the run but I thought it was a very interesting take on the devil and his growth with respect to heaven/hell and his place in all of it. Interesting characters throughout bringing in Adam, Eve, God himself, and various other angels along the way. It wasn't the best ever TV but I thought it was entertaining enough to get through it.

Mazikeen was a great character for sure. Her transformation was interesting.

Onimusha (Netflix): Anime, 8 episodes. The description sounded like Seven Samurai with zombies. There was one short scene a bit like that, but it went a different direction. I thought this was pretty awful, but gutted it out because so many people like anime and I wanted to give it an honest try. This looked pretty true to the form from the glimpses I’ve gotten of some shows my son has watched. Many ridiculous fights with increasingly silly demons… yawn. I’ll go back to being an old who doesn’t get anime now.

Thanks for posting this one. Based on your recommendation, I watched it last night and definitely agree it's a great (albeit difficult) watch. I have some quibbles with the filmmaking itself, but the stories were amazing. Those guys that did the helicopter rescues...well, "heroes" seems like an understatement.

Each team is given a different set of challenges and get eliminated when they answer a question incorrectly. The challenges aren't particularly Bond-like; instead of shooting or car chases you get two brothers from Croydon trying to measure a live snake.

Brian Cox appears in cutscenes as "The Controller", sort of a cross between M and Logan Roy. He's the best thing about the show which isn't saying a lot.

I was so mad when I turned it on. Because of my A.D.D. probably, I was expecting a TV James Bond series. What a disappointment when it was a GAME SHOW.
