People really like Your Honor? They're ok with the plot? Come on. Completely ridiculous.

There is something about "Your Honor".
Yes, the plot is completely ridiculous. Everything about it is hard me to to swallow in a plausible manner. But I can't stop watching ffs.
Everytime I see Fia all I can think about is Sophia Coppola in Godfather 3.
Carlo reminds me of James Remar from the Warriors.
Little Mo trying to act intimindating as a 5'7" 125 lb gangster (sorry I don't have a similar character lined up)
Rosie Perez got dug up from the where are you now files.
Yet, I've watched 15 episodes in a week and a half and just want to see where this thing goes.

I think it’s the Bryan Cranston factor. If he wasn’t the lead I’d probably have given up earlier than I did. Gotta respect Heisenberg.

I enjoyed season 1 but I got through about 1.5 episodes is season 2 and just gave up. No interest in continuing.

I never finished S1, just way too over the top.

She's been around for a bit, great character.

Prison Break just dropped on Netflix. Never seen one episode. Game on. I spent nearly a decade working for the Bureau of Prisons so I'm not the normal guy watching a prison show. It's gonna go really good or won't make it past a few episodes. Fingers crossed it's good. Pray for me. Ha ha

I'll be very interested to hear your critique. We watched it when it came out and were hooked. Then my daughter discovered it a few years ago and binged it in like 2 weeks.

About 8 episodes in. It's dumb, but actually the type of show that keeps u watching. Once again, it's dumb, but the characters aren't all bad. Has HBO OZ type feel just not as extreme.

His brother is on death row. Zero percent chance death row inmates are hanging out with only a chain link fence separating them from general population. Zero

I always laugh at prison shows in regards to shanks. Prisons shows make it look like shanks are on everybody and in every room. Even funnier is that they always depict these thousands of shanks everywhere to all look like what William Wallace used in Braveheart I found 3 shanks in a decade and have seen a bunch. They aren't quite like the movies.

In a riot, like in the show, it's comical that it just goes back to normal. It doesn't. Once, our inmates didn't like the food and staged a one day food strike. No violence. Just didn't eat. We locked the place down for over a week. A riot like that? Lockdown indefinitely. All gang leaders would be shipped out. It would be a mass Exodus of inmates to other facilities.

Having said all that. It ain't Shawshank Redemption, but I'll keep watching. Ha ha

Rewatching Lost on Netflix.
I seem to remember that, at one point, it felt like chore. But right now, toward the end of S1, I'm hooked again.

I forget when it starts to go off the rails. s4 or 5 maybe?

The Paolo and Nikki episode is pretty bad too

Season 3 overall is still solid (especially the latter third or so) but has some of the worst individual episodes. Nikki & Paolo, Jack’s Tattoos, Eko getting killed off out of nowhere, Locke takes peyote and rescues Eko from a polar bear, Sun is revealed to be a liar/adulterer, the first six episodes in particular were rough and there was a huge break of 3 months before the show came back which ticked a lot of people off. But season 5 was the island time jumping season which really lost a lot of the fans and probably the jump the shark you are thinking of.

The deeper into Prison Break I get, the more I find myself rolling my eyes at yet another distraction to the main plotline, but by the end of the episode I'm cliffhung again and I find myself wanting to hit Next Episode. The constant interruptions are getting to be really annoying though. Reminds me of the middle seasons of The Walking Dead. The group goes to check out a new building. Oh wait, Joe wandered off, gotta find him first. Found Joe finally, let's get back to that building, oh look Stacey just got bit, somebody shoot her so we can get back on the road. Wait, where's Dave and Becky? They heard a noise and went down a side alley, somebody go fetch them and bring them back. Ok everybody's back now, let's go check out that building. Wait, we lost Billy, where'd he go......

I'm fascinated with Scofield - the level of planning he put into everything, and I want that story told. I don't care about T-Bag wandering off or Abruzzi getting demoted, just give me the main story dangit...

It's not too bad once you get into it. Some suspense of disbelief that commoners can get away with so much and get around so freely.

Seemed better when one compares some Wiki info on the historical figures (look up the Emperors to start) and the show's effort to fill in the back story on some of them (show makes the emperor's winy brother gay, though historically he was married 2-3 times by the time the show is being played out) .

Much like the Spartacus series - the historical truth is pretty impressive as they fill in that storyline... once you get past the action packed first season.

But I get it if one is only in it for the gladiators or racing... not much going on there as one might expect from the title of the show.

Finishing this up tonight. Was just looking for something to watch, scratched the itch. I like history, I like ancient Roman history, I like gladiator stuff and there is enough nudidity to offset the oiled up men so it checked all the boxes for me

So far, I'd say I like it but dont really love it. Don Draper is amazing in every way and I wish the show was focused in the office a bit more.

Any scene with Betty and the kids has just been really boring so far.

They were doing some good stuff with Peggy in the first two seasons, but she's kind of disappeared in Season 3.

For those who may not be aware, this is an adaptation of a novel by Carl Hiaasen. I haven't read it but my wife has and really enjoyed it. So far the shows been pretty good.

Yeah I’m watching on Stremio so I saw it. I mean, it’s an accurate portrayal of the racism present in that period. Not in favor of pulling episodes.

Traveling Reality shows like Hunted, Amazing Race, Race Across the World, Race to Survive, etc... I am always amazed at the camera operators running speed, angles used, climbing mountains, and some of the accommodations in foreign countries are not so spacious. At least they don't have to starve.

They run the races just like the contestants, but never win!

I also watched this the other night and thought it was not so good but it's still not the worst movie I've ever seen. I sort of like the lulz take on the purge (and the unintended? knock on cali) but I didn't think the humor landed alot of the time or maybe I'm just not the intended audience.

I think I tried to watch that way back when it was first running and had the same result.

Only show I've watched is Race to Survive... Lol, no- not dolly shots.

In one episode the racers had to stop because their trailing camera man fell down a small cliff and got injured, which became part of the show.

These are people racing through bushwhacked wilderness for the most part- that a camera person is able to keep up at all is incredible, let alone do their job on top of that. I'd be very curious to see what kind of gear they're lugging... I'm assuming GoPro and not some kind of steady cam.

We finished it when it first came out and it didn't get smarter. Probably a good decision on your part since you actually live it. If that was a representation of what goes on in prison, I'd be very, very concerned.

On Hunted, we get to randomly see a glimpse. Like the 3rd person in a street cam catching the '2 perps' running across a street - carrying a decent sized hand camera. Partially see a shadow of the camera person at times. Had one episode that they were riding a bike and keeping a steady shot behind the participant bikers.

The hand camera caught on the street cam looked like the top part of this set-up:

Now run full speed and not move your arm.

They will sit behind the driver many times (2 particpants are other side + middle seat). Occasionally see a shoulder or whatnot of the 3rd person.

Race to Survive is incredible as the camera person is climbing mountains, spelunking in caves, canoeing white water. Sometimes the shots are ahead of the contestants so you see the faces and entire bodies as they approach, such as coming up on the check points.

And the angles taken don't show the other camera people with the other participants. Some good editing on the shows.

So what does the job entail? For Petr Cikhart, a longtime camera operator on “The Amazing Race,” there’s no such thing as an average day. He and a sound tech will follow a pair of contestants nonstop, sometimes for as long as 24 hours → straight, capturing whatever the contestants do. “If they decide to sleep on the airport floor, there we are 10 feet away sleeping too,” he says. “Physically, it’s very demanding. We get tired.” And you can’t take a break, he explains. “If someone is running, you can’t tell them to slow down so you can catch up. You just have to keep up. There are no do-overs or second takes.”

With only 6 episodes I think they left some questions unanswered but whenever you do those multiple time line story lines, I don't know how you wrap everything up. Thought episode 5 was a waste but the writers brings the series to a close with a satisfying ending so I'll allow it

So I fired up Peacock streaming instead and watching NZ Traitors Season 1. I'd previously watched the first US season and both (I think?) UK ones. I do prefer the non-US versions since they are regular people and much more interesting. Enjoyed NZ Season 1 a lot but Season 2 does not appear to be on Peacock yet, so I'm starting US 2 instead.

OK, these are the dumbest people yet.

US 2 has interesting gameplay. Would I call it good? Probably not. But it's entertaining. And the players do some things that we hadn't seen in English-speaking versions up to that point.

Homicide: Life on the Streets is on Peacock now. I never actually watched it but the acclaim for it is so high and seems like an obvious choice for those who love the Wire. And of course I can see Captain Raymond Holt before he took over the 99. Is the consensus here aligned with the critics?

Finished S1 of Race to Survive. We watched S2 first. After the first few episodes of S1, I didn't think it would be as good as S2 but it turned out to be a very good season too. If you haven't watched yet, I'd say to start with the first one. They make improvements in the game by the second one. Definitely recommended for those into these kind of shows. I hope they do another one.

I mean at some point in one of the seasons, perhaps it was AUS, they pretty much come out and say "we need to keep the stupidest people in the game as long as possible", and usually the most hilariously clueless faithful goes the distance.

Keeping the dumbest faithful in the game is a major part of good traitor strategy. It's been partly responsible for several of the traitor wins I've seen.

In the Canadian season, we even saw faithfuls talking openly about whether they should be taking out the dumbest of their numbers even if there is no reason to believe they are traitors.

just started watching this in the last week or so.

hooked me immediately from the first episode. it hits my funny bone just right. mostly Samberg and Braugher but the writing is funny and well delivered by pretty much everyone.

Homicide: Life on the Streets is on Peacock now. I never actually watched it but the acclaim for it is so high and seems like an obvious choice for those who love the Wire. And of course I can see Captain Raymond Holt before he took over the 99. Is the consensus here aligned with the critics?

Just saw this tonight when opening The **** app in Roku and was overjoyed. Loved this show when it originally aired. Will be interesting to see how it holds up. The Big Bang of the Munchiverse.

Untold: The Murder of Air McNair is 58 minutes long. 2 minutes are the usual Netflix intro and 2 minutes are the ending credits.

45 minutes are spent romanticizing McNair's career and the relationship with the young woman interspersed with testimony about the crime scene and investigation. Including a very quick drop of (paraphrasing) "McNair was still married and everyone knows his wife WhatsHerFace." Ummm, I don't. Am I suppose to? Who is this WhatsHerFace and why should I know her? And another very quick drop of the two not knowing each other long. And that there were other women in McNair's life.

The final nine minutes are pure speculation, subtle/not subtle accusations, and conjecture with no individual piece being looked at with any particular depth. Basically, just a narrator saying "I pooped in your house" and leaving you to guess what could have happened.

Terrible documentary. Horrible storytelling. I'm embarrassed to say I watched this after knowing the Untold series was garbage after the Johnny Manziel promotional video they put out under the guise of being a documentary.

Watched Tokyo Vice (MAX streaming), which has been brought up in this thread before.

It was good, not great. As with some other shows over the last couple of decades set in East Asia yet featuring caucasian people as main characters (Marco Polo, the recent Shogun adaptation), the caucasian characters are the least interesting, most poorly rendered, and among the most poorly acted characters in the show. Here, the story is based on Adelstein's stories about his time in Japan, so you can't really do this show without him being a prominent character. Also since Ansel Elsgort was somehow the executive producer for the series, he wasn't about to recast from himself to someone else playing the Adelstein role because Elsgort wasn't great in this acting wise.

Samatha was also a feature character and didn't really do much for me either. The acting was o.k. there, but people fall in love with her for no discernable reason apart from apparently that she's trying to take control of her destiny (but doesn't seem to be particularly adept at or intelligent about it). Similarly, Adelstien draws the stunning and sophisticated ganster mistress Misaki into a torrid love affair because he's as alluring as a wet sponge? Zero attempt to build credulity to that relationship. Along those lines, Adelstein time and again gets people to go along with his requests despite his lack of compellingness, and despite the eventual track record he establishes of not really holding up his end of his bargains. Got a bit eyeroll inducing after a while. By the end it felt like this would have been a better show if the Adelstein character was removed.

The Japanese characters and cast (and it's a large cast) came off much better, except for Tozawa and Hayama, who are caricature violent Yakuza strongmen played in caricature style. Not so problematic for Hayama as it's a smaller role, but problematic for Tozawa as he's the main bad guy. Ayumi Tanida hams it up, with sometimes laughably silly results. Multiple times I found myself wondering why someone didn't just kill the guy during one of his episodes, but I guess the answer was everyone but him was playing by the rules, acting honorably. It got stretched way too thin after a while.

The rest of the show is acted well, and written decently. It's loosely based on Adelstein's memoir, and there are questions about the veracity of his depiction of events, so I take this as mostly fiction. Michael Mann is involved in the production, and you can see his style throughout, which I enjoy. I liked it not just for the gangster drama, but also for the highly stylized glimpses of parts of Japanese society.

I'd call it a maybe watch if you're looking for something mobster or something Japanese flavored.

Prison Break. Finished season 1 episode 10. That will be the last episode I watch. Gave it a shot. In the end, it was just more dumb then good for me.

We finished it when it first came out and it didn't get smarter. Probably a good decision on your part since you actually live it. If that was a representation of what goes on in prison, I'd be very, very concerned.
