Anyone watched Dark Winds? Just finished episode 1. Seems solid. Good enough to stick with for a season?
i started watching it when it first came out but somewhere down the line I lost track of it. I liked it and will likely re-start it when I need a new show to start back on.

Nobody Wants This (Netflix) - 7.5/10

Look, like Portnoy with Neapolitan pizzas, all rom coms are pretty formulaic and can only be so good. In other words, I really can't imagine a rom com nearing a 9 or better rating. With that in mind, Nobody Wants This is a traditional rom com that nonetheless still can be pleasant to watch. The comedy is light and fun, all characters are quite likeable despite their significant flaws, and it's well-paced and ends when it should.

In short, if your significant other wants to spend a couple of nights watching a rom com together, Nobody Wants Us is plenty tolerable if not enjoyable.
We have watched six episodes and really enjoy it. It's better than most rom coms and is enjoyable. The episodes are short and we blew thru those six in one night.

The pacing and movement of the plot is really good.

Two sittings imo.

Tried watching Grotesquerie on FX. Tapped out during episode 2. It’s by the horror story guy and almost everything he does sucks so probably a good call

I'm OK 2 episodes in on The Penguin. The stuttering sidekick is dumb, but, everything else isn't any worse than the average series. I'm interested enough to see where the penguin character ends up.

Still making my way through a first time Mad Men rewatch. Mid-season 6. I like it but this has to be the best non-bingeable show of all time. After one of two episodes I'm just done for the day. I mean it has great characters and writing, but I put it behind other shows that also have great characters and writing, but also have more interesting things and plotlines happening.

I'm in the middle of a 1st time Mad Men watch (halfway through S3) and I agree. Not a lot of exciting events going on that compell me to keep watching.

The Summit US episode 1 has arrived.
New reality TV show. 16 ordinary Americans attempt to summit a mountain in Aotearoa within 14 days for their share of $1mil. Yes, some 'elimination' twists along the 100 mile way - not everyone is going to make it. The group must win the $, not individuals.

Hosted by Spartacus, err Manu Bennett.

High hopes, but tempered on how good it could be. Scenery will be awesome.

And yes, I'll likely admire the camera team for keeping up every step / cliff hold of the way.
2 episodes in. Nice imagery and height challenges.
Picking off the slow and irritating peeps as expected early on. Herd mentality to start.
The most 'compassionate profession' is the villain - interesting.

They still have to complete the mission as a group within the time limit. Unsure how I'm liking the social game aspect, but I guess it counter-balances the 'picking off the slowest person' mentality.

The Penguin on HBO Is terrific....had no idea Colin Farrel was the Penguin until I saw him interview on Fallon. He is for sure winning awards.

The Perfect Couple is a murder mystery mini series on Netflix that's good to watch with the wife....some of the acting is a little cringe, but entertaining enough. Nicole Kidman plays a great villain.

Love it. Zahn McClernon is awesome.
He really is a cool actor. Very good in both Westworld and Longmire.

And Reservation Dogs.
Yeah, it's interesting how he can play basically the same character in two completely different ways to fit the tone of the two shows.

You guys have been talking about Dark Winds, so I started binging it.

Only just realized I was binging Dark Sails

Also good.
Ha ha. First two seasons of DARK SAILS was great. Loved it. 3rd season tailed off. Didn't finish the last one.
Are you two talking about Black Sails?
Yes. Solid storyline.
Yeah, I really enjoyed that series, was just wondering if there was some other show called Dark Sails I hadn't run across yet.

Finished up Bad Monkey on Apple. It was entertaining enough but really fizzled out for the last episode of the season. Almost like they didn't really know how to end it and just forced it to end.
Bummer. I'm almost there. Decently fun ride so far (though the initial episodes were the best).

My Brilliant Friend continues to produce stunning episodes. I’m sure I’m the only one here watching it but you should be and also **** Nino Sarratore.

I assume the book ended the same way.

Did set up a 2nd season, if they get re-newed. But, I thought the book was a stand-alone - so not sure if they have any source material for a 2nd season.

I didn't realize that and Slow Horses were in their last episodes- caught me by surprise, so it felt kinda rushed for me on both.

I liked BM- consistent fun/funny ride riffing on Vaughn's unfiltered take on things. I thought Mulaney was great, as well as Vaughn's partner. Pretty much everybody was fun to watch.

I thought Slow got a little lazy with some eyerolly plot moving, but still a good watch.

The first season of The Leftovers was based on a book and covered its entire story. Seasons 2 and 3 were created fresh and continued the story. (The author of the book was one of the showrunners.) Maybe something similar could happen here.

watching the Franchise on HBO. Its a satire about large budget movies. Not awful, not great - some laughs will finish

I didn't have any idea it was based on a book. I just figured it was a Vince Vaughn vehicle for him playing is normal role. I hope it continues as it was fun with interesting characters and I like the Vaughn schtick.
Yeah it's a perfect light, funny, but still some "whoa" moments type of a show to watch while winding down at night, when you have some time to kill and there's no game on, etc.

I think there are more books with the characters

I had a good time with the first 2 episodes of Teacup. I like that it's a short series that wraps Halloween day. I'll see it through.
Ep1 was rough. Bad acting/plot. Lights in the house don't work. Flashlights from the 1980s. Let's stop in the middle of the forest with weird things going on while my son is missing and have a conversation.

It's a horror show. People have to behave in a way that allows the show to happen.

Think we could write a horror script where there are ZERO bonehead decisions by the leads?
