Not yet what to think of Welcome To Derry, especially since this is a completely different story from the book. But...
Is that **** Hallorann, as in The Shining's **** Hallorann?

The fact that it's different actually makes me want to watch it more. We don't really need another TV/movie version of the book.

Finished Task.

I'll give it the Apple standard rating of 7.5/10. Yes, I know it's an HBO production, but it reminded me of a "good but flawed" Apple show. Worth the watch but nowhere near top tier TV for reasons I can't really put my finger on. I will say that, in general, I am not a fan of police procedurals that overly focus on the investigators.

Networks rarely make intricately detailed shows like Breaking Bad, Sopranos, etc. anymore because the audience for it is no longer there. People scroll on their phones while watching TV these days. Maybe your reaction has something to do with that.

my thoughts Verbatim

I liked the first 2 seasons of the Diplomat but I’m hating season 3. Still have a couple episodes left but probably won’t be back for S4.
I haven't started yet but what is turning you off? I thought the first two seasons were great.
Kerri Russell's character becomes, IMO, both more unlikeable and less interesting this season. The banter between different characters has its moments but is not as consistently entertaining. Political issues not as interesting. I don't think there's a "jump the shark" moment, but my wife and I have started fast forwarding through plot lines we don't care for and that's usually our last straw before giving a show up entirely.

It doesn't, as I love your other exampled show.

Nero the Assassin (Netflix - French with subtitles) is a solid watch for fantasy fans. The end isn't completely satisfying as it seems to be setting up a following season. It gets a bit tropey/derivative at times, but not enough to ruin the entertainment factor.

Derry watchers - how have the first episodes been? the previews definitely peaked my interest (books don't exist guy here).

I'm pretty mixed. It's a little too in your face for me.

Need to fire up some new shows. Having surgery next week and have a lot of down time over the next few weeks.

I vote for the Lazarus Project and The Shield.

The Shield is awesome...must watch, imo

The Shield I remember being a very fun show. Lots of twists. Good entertainment.

Started The Shield tonight. That first episode, holy crap.
Yeah. It doesn’t let up.

Yeah, it's definitely a show that sets the tone pretty quickly.

I made it halfway into Ep2 of Lazarus Project. Just wasn't really grabbing me. It's very Hollywood slick and kinda network TV feel. The lead isn't very charismatic and his character just bought into what was happening too quickly and became an integral part of the team right away. That just seemed too rushed. I love time travel stuff but prefer weird edgier stuff, like on the show Dark. Maybe I'll go back to it but probably not.

Been a long time since I watched (I got into it after it was done so was able to power watch). Lots of great ups and downs I recall. There are quite a few of those holy crap moments.

I didn't watch it until about 6 months ago. Then binged right through it in no time. It is a wild ride and entertaining for sure.

I never looked at a hot stove top the same again.

I cant remember if its the 2nd. 3rd or 4th...but the ep with couple repeating on the roof top as missiles fly...thats the ep where i went all in. Overall mood and writing felt anything but hollywood- interesting and emotional without being schlocky melodramatic.

I think Hulu has it

Pluribus premiere soon! We might need a new thread.

Has a budget of $15M per episode which is 5 times Breaking Bad. Vince Gilligan has also kept most of the premise and details under wraps, banking on his name being attached being enough to maintain interest.

Gilligan says he thinks it should go 3 seasons, but he also thought that about Breaking Bad initially.

I've found mention of one review. Andy Sepinwall from Rolling Stone.

Pluribus is a dazzling piece of entertainment. It takes advantage of everything Gilligan learned about patient storytelling with Breaking Bad and Saul, then combines it with the high-concept ambition of X-Files, as well as the visual flair Gilligan has developed as a director on all his shows. Though the plot involves every person on the planet, the focus is often entirely on Carol, as Gilligan relies on all the things he realized Seehorn could do — tragedy, slapstick, and sheer screen presence — during her time playing attorney Kim Wexler on Saul. There are long stretches where we’re just watching Carol struggle through various tasks, like digging a grave. And it’s riveting.

(British) Celebrity Traitors 2025 starting up.
Trailer
They may or may not be right (could just mean UK version), but said on the show that it's not happened before.

Banishment vote tie, re-vote was a tie, it goes to banishment by 'chance'.

19 started the game, 12 remain. No traitors found thus far.
The tie vote is between 2 Faithfuls.
Either way it will be 3 Traitors vs 8 Faithful and then a murder down to 7 Faithful.
Celebrity Traitors finale

Only 1 Traitor found and no replacements.
Final five go into the last roundtable.
Big Mohawk Guy has the right 2 pegged, but unsure if he strikes as the swing vote.
(Is it surprising that an Iroquois Native haircut is still in style 250 years later?)

The Ted Lasso 'good Coach turned bad, turned good again' actor has never been truly suspected all game.

Roundtable was pretty long - surprised it was allowed to go on. Lots of good points from all.
Will not reveal to the rest what they are - banished the Silent Singer Traitor.
Only the Flamboyant Comedian Traitor remains. 1v3

Will Crooked Glasses (or are his eyes or nose crooked?) Faithful become a casualty of the unknown? Or can the 3 Faithfuls get it right? He chooses Mohawk over Comedian. Comedian and in a surprise move best mate Coach send Mohawk packing. Nooooooooo 1v2

They choose to end the game.

Flamboyant Comedian Traitor wins. Alan Carr
Well deserved as he (alone) had to murder in plain sight - two times.

Marvel Zombies blows. Only 4 episodes, but just a collection of characters I only sort of recognize getting picked off one by one. The ending was good, though.

Heritage was pretty good on HBO. Polish limited series available in English overdubbing if you're into that sort of thing (I am not). 7 episodes, I believe.

I finished off season 3 and thought it was just fine. Still entertaining and interesting. Similar to the first two seasons for me. If you liked the first two seasons I would think you would like this season. Surprised you were so turned off by it.

I think it takes a WHOLE Lot longer in season 3 to get to the Spy v Spy stuff and they spend way too much time on the interpersonal drama.

“Roundtable was pretty long - surprised it was allowed to go on”

As with Survivor tribal councils, Traitors roundtables go on for much longer than what is shown, and how much they show varies by episode.

I love Gilligan and Seehorn so I will continue watching despite this type of show not being up my alley. It’s close enough to zombie/alien/post-apocalypse genre where I normally wouldn’t even try it. I was entertained the first two episodes so still in for now.

If you are a fan of Billy Bob Thornton then Landman is a good show. Just watched Season 1 for the second time. Season 2 starts next week
This one is polarizing. I have several friends who loved it. I thought it was garbage.

I’ll reiterate what I said when season 1 was running. I’m not a prude and normally all for T&A but them sexualizing the teenage daughter was creepy to me. Once I could have overlooked but it was constant during s1. And yes, I know the actress is in her 20’s but her character is supposed to be a HS senior.
