Strength of Schedule ... (1 Viewer)

I just love the analysis associated with Clayton's annual SoS Article.

Congratulations on a great piece Clayton!

I have two questions.

a) Which two Defenses match the best for your typical DE by Committee concept? I would take Chicago & Seattle ... or maybe Chicago & Green Bay ...

b) Can you explain some of the rationale behind your projected numbers associated with the Team Defense SoS? I am having trouble believing that the NE Patriots for instance will instill the fear in teams that your 0.4 points implies. Do you really believe that they will be better this season than the likes of Seattle, Indianapolis and KC?

CHI will probably be drafted too high to make it a viable DBC choice, if you're spending the midround pick to get them, you should be playing them more often.

Miami and Cleveland.

Both face some weak competition, and both face the Jets on the other team's bye.

I like. A lot.

If I could count on them being available, I'd drop CLE for CIN off waivers after week 9, though. CLE's schedule is a bit tougher, and CIN faces BAL, SD, NO, CLE, BAL and OAK from 9-14.

So, ideally,

1: CLE vs NO

2: MIA vs BUF

3: CLE vs BAL

4: CLE vs OAK

5: CLE vs CAR

6: MIA vs NYJ

7: MIA vs GB

8: CLE vs NYJ

9: CIN vs BAL

10: CIN vs SD

11: CIN vs NO

12: CIN vs CLE

13: CIN vs BAL

14: CIN vs OAK

15: MIA vs BUF

16: MIA vs NYJ

BAL and NYJ: 3 times, incl vs NYJ in wk 16 (FFL championship?)

NO, BUF, OAK: 2 times

CAR, GB, SD, and CLE: 1 time.

I'd like to see this table with "points against" factored in. Sacks, ints, fum recs are all well and good but, who is keeping the opposing team off of the scoreboard?

:goodposting: Good thought.

However, you might have to grab Cincy before then, but they SHOULD be floating out there as their bye is Week 5 IIRC.

That might be the time to grab them (prior to Wk 6 - CLE on a bye).

Either way, nice strategy.

I'm digging on this info guys. I've been crunching some numbers using an average of TD points scored plus TD points allowed by opponent. I hope to "publish" my results soon.

Cool...but isn't Miami one of the 1st 5-8 defenses off the board...I know Cleveland will be sitting around.
Antsports has them as the 14th Defense off the board; going in the 15th round on average
