Stressing Over QB Start Again... (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone,

LEAGUE SETTINGS: .5 PTS PER COMP / 6 PTS PER RUSH TD / 4 PTS PER PASS TD

In my league, the QBs as a whole score a lot (a nice week is 40-50 pts). The issue comes in if your QB has a bad week, and scores in the 30's or less, you're potentially losing 20+ points to your opponent.

I've been running with J Daniels but last week I was very concerned with playing him against the Steelers. Every ranking had him still ranked high and, anyone I asked for an opinion over it (like on this board) said I was over thinking it and he ended up having a stinker. I was considering Matt Stafford, who in real life had not a great game, but scored 45 pts in my league. But, I lucked out and my opponent had Rodgers who stuck as well and I won.

SOOOO... I'm back again because I'm curious if anyone is concerned with Daniels playing against that Philly defense this week? They've been balling out since their bye (albeit playing bad QBs other than Burrow, who still didn't have a great game). Would you consider Herbert against that bad Bengals' defense in what could end up being a positive for passing game script? Or, would you consider Stafford against the Patriots with his two WRs playing (has scored 40+ every week since Puka and Kupp has been back)?

I'm stressd over this decision but am I over thinking this? I've had really sh***y luck but just got back into playoff contention.

So, with the league settings above, would you go...
Daniels vs PHI
Herbert vs CIN
Stafford vs NE

Thank you VERY much for any suggestions or thoughts.

I don’t know how/why your scoring is so
High so I can’t give a definitive answer. But just based on the QBs and scoring I know I’d still play Daniels. (I am playing him in my main league)

Yea, as I tried to highlight, it's because QBs get .5 points per completion. It pretty much raises all of the QBs' floor. We've had some QBs score into the 60-70-80 range (Lamar and Borrow last week), but a lot score in the 40's. I think things are pretty relative to every other fantasy league in that the best QBs in fantasy are still the best in this league other than it knocks a pure running QB like ARich. But, because of those higher scores, if you get a bad week and your QB scores into the mid to low 30's or lower, you could lose a lot more to your opponent (potentially 20-30 pts) rather than the more manageable maybe 10-12 you lose in most league scoring.

I'm not sure how I feel about it but it's just a league with some co-workers. Hey, it's better than it was a couple of years ago where the commish set it to a full point per completion. Freaking Brady was scoring 90-100 pts a week with his constant peppering of Godwin. Lol!

Oh, I missed it this whole time, but I just realized the scoring for passing yards is set to .1 per pass yard. So, the QBs in my league are getting 2.5x more points on passing yards than what I think most leagues are set at (1 pt per 25 yards). So QBs are getting .1 per ANY yard (pass or run). Before I saw this setting, I was starting to notice the trend where QBs who had 270+ total yards were at least getting 40+ points. So, this now makes a lot of sense.

On this info I think I REALLY am leaning towards Herbert as the Bengals give up a lot of yards, both in the air and on the ground, to QBs and the opposing passers throw a lot, which would lead to more completions (more points).

I really like Daniels but Philly allows one of the fewest per game yardage in the air in the league and not much on the ground as well. Stats are a little skewed because they've faced some bad QBs since their bye, but it is certainly a red warning light.

Sorry, I know most don't care about my ramblings on this, but I just found it surprising and I wanted to share. Lol!!!

Now, who to drop for Herbert.... Mason, Waddle, Jennings, or Downs. :ponder:
