Student Ambassador with People to People - Any Recruitors out there? (1 Viewer)

Has anyone had any experience with this?

My daughter (10th grade) received a letter saying she was nominated as a Student Ambassador with People to People. Seems they gather a group of kids together and head on over to Australia for three weeks.

It says that it is set to build:

Confidence and Leadership

Cultural Understanding

World Awareness

Friendship and Memories.

They claim that over 80% of Student Ambassadors are accepted to their first college choice, so I'm guessing this is for kids who accel academically - my daughter isn't into sports or school counsel).

I'm curious as to whether there are any school admission people out there who can indicate whether having this on a student's admissions application would give that student a leg up.

My daughter was invited too a few years back. I had an acquaintance who's daughter did it maybe 15 years ago now. She said it was great and highly recommended it. We didn't go because of cost.

Girlfriend is Admissions Executive at a very competitive college to get into.

I asked her and will let you know what she says

She says it's a great program but doesn't equate to some great distinction when reviewing files for admission.

When working at a much less competitive college, she stated she saw TONS of applications where students had participated in the program. too many to distinguish them.

Hope that helps.
