In this video, a black woman get in the face of a dreadlocked white San Francisco State University student for "stealing her culture." Love the response by the guy taking the video as to why he was filming the situation: "Just for everyone's safety."

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Campus police at San Francisco State University have launched an investigation into a viral video that shows a female student confronting a male student on campus about his dreadlocks.

Campus officials confirmed to KRON 4 News that the video took place on campus Monday afternoon and that both individuals are students, but neither are employed by the school.

The 46-second video shows an African-American student confronting a white student on campus about his dreadlocks.

She tells him in the video that he is appropriating her culture and when he tries to walk away she obstructs his path.

“Yo, stop touching me right now,” the man says he tries to walk up the stairs. She then grabs his arm to keep him from leaving.

“I don’t need your disrespect,” he says as she releases her grip on him and he walks away.

The woman then notices someone recording the video and asks the unidentified cameraman why he was filming.

“Just for everyone’s safety,” the cameraman says before shutting off the camera.

Statement from SFSU:

We are aware of the video made of an incident which occurred on campus yesterday afternoon. University police were called to the scene of the incident when it occurred. The two individuals involved in the incident are not San Francisco State University employees. Further, no criminal charges have been pressed at this time to the University’s knowledge.

San Francisco State University promotes the rights of the campus community to engage in free speech, but does not condone behavior that impedes the safety or well-being of others. We are taking the matter seriously and will promptly and thoroughly investigate this incident through applicable University channels, including our campus student conduct procedures

Imagine if it had been the other way around, a white guy saying something like that to a black girl. Then grabbing her? He would have been dragged off in chains and spent a few years hoping he didn't drop the soap.

Yes. It must be very difficult to be a poor, persecuted white male in the US.

1)  The dreads guy needs to get his ### kicked just for good measure.  One more deep shoulder shrug/combo knee dip to emphasize his point and the mincy dude was gonna drop him for just cause.

2)  Another example of how women think they can push and grab and bully people with no repercussions.  

3)  The little mincy dude with the bully girl cleans whatever she wants him to ...I mean whatever.

The dude with the chick looks gay (NTTAWWT) and not the slightest bit intimidating. The chick could prob take them both.

As we learned from #Grabgate that is assault and battery. I wonder if the courts of law and public opinion will treat her the same as Lewandowski.

Buddy of mine has had dreads for a while. Arguement on whether they look stupid or not aside (I'm not a big fan but they're his thing), he got comments and even threatened like this on a very regular basis. In Memphis when he was playing Beale 300 gigs a year he would catch #### from black folks downtown all the time. Now that he's up in Asheville (somewhat of a hippie hollow), the comments have died down a lot. 

 
whenver i hear someone playing beethoven i beat the hell out of them and yell at them for stealing my culture bromigos so i see it take that to the bank bromigos 

 
"White Privilege" borrowing "Black Privilege".  The girl in the video should be kicked out of school..

That's a stupid statement.  The guy didn't do anything wrong and that btch had no right to confront him in any way.

 
A funny thing is that dreadlocks are thought to have originated in India, not Africa. So that girl was admonishing that boy for stealing from her culture which "borrowed" from the Indian culture.

 
I've no doubt there will be some yapping about today's youth, but pretty sure I went to college with those two in the 90's.  

Militant black girl, and Trustafarian--nothing new.

Agree but with a caveat...the difference here is traditionally those two demographics played for the same team...the fact that they are turning on each other is really the big story here...kind of like when there's a heel turn in the WWE...

White guy with dreads always wants to get along with angry black girl, yes.  

Other way around?  Not so much.  

That girls not going to have too much fun the next few weeks.  I cannot imagine the reasonable minds that inhabit Twitter will be pleasant.  Assume all her social media is now gone.  Stay off the internet, girlfriend, it ain't gonna be nice.

Yep. On what grounds could she possibly defend herself.

And that particular brand of outrage (on the girl's part) is absolutely learned, not visceral. In aggregate, people rolled with things a lot better in the recent past.

Those roles were being played 20 years ago, but the scripts are different today.

 
So, it's dreadlocks today, will she be screaming at  whites wearing their hats with a flat bill with the name tag still on it and / or sideways, and wearing their pants hanging down showing their shorts to everyone?  Is that next?
