Stupid Sports Schtick (1 Viewer)

I'm pretty much done with "exit velocity". I don't care how many mph the ball came off the bat.
Yeah. Hate that one.

That means absolutely nothing. Especially when the guys batting average is .217.
You need to stay away from the Fantasy Sports channel on SiriusXM.

I mean, I'm a total fantasy sports nut but some of the terms/stats these dorks come up with is borderline insanity.

Another vote for the players/coaches thanking God in the post game interview. It's reached the point of absurdity in college football. We're about 2 years from replacing the cheerleaders with a gospel choir at some of these schools.

Signaling a first down after securing one.
Especially on the first drive on 2nd and 4 from your own 26 yd line
Or your last drive when down 20 and the game is pretty much over.

Heck too many celebrations of a meaningless stat when down big late in the game. Don't get me wrong, I am not anti celebration, just why are we celebrating a sack of the backup qb or a first down when the game is basically over? GET OFF MY LAWN

"Smartest guy in the room". Loved by radio hosts and some of their more avid listeners. Basically projecting themselves as being smarter than "the smartest guy in the room", without realizing the irony.

"Red Area" instead of Red Zone. Why?

Also "the paint" in hoops is now "the painted area".
I would guess this is due to an NFL trademark, like Big Game for Super Bowl.
I gave that some thought... you think the folks that run the Red Zone channel would be that greedy? Are they actually owned by the NFL? If so, that would make sense.
I heard some commentator wonder why they used red for that area of the field when red is associated with STOP?
I think I've heard some game announcers on the radio use green to describe it. May even be some stations that sell ads based on calling the "X Company Green Zone" as team A looks to score here.

Only two types of injuries in the NHL: upper body and lower body.

Decapitation is merely an upper body injury in hockey parlance.

"score the basketball"

We all know the sport that's being played and the kind of ball they're using to play it. You can just say "score."

Yes. Red Zone channel is owned by the NFL. I think we have plenty of evidence that they are very greedy and aggressively defend IP or what they consider IP.

This has been an issue for a while, but the college game in the past three years has gotten almost to where the coach can’t speak a sentence without thanking his savior and Lord for everything ever.

“First of all, I’d like to thank our Lord and savior Jesus Christ for blessing us today with vocal cords so that we might have this sideline interview!”

The Boise State guy this year made me wonder about separation of church and state and of football and Christianity. In all seriousness, the way these guys talk leaves no room for private conscience. I worry for the players that aren’t quite as on board in the belief structure or the expression thereof. I don’t like it and it almost strikes me as one of the seven deadlies—that of pride and almost false idolatry. God is likely indifferent about the result of your pulling guard. There are deeper emotions and bigger fish to fry, so to speak.

Looking forward to when Atheist University wins their first title.

Their halftime show is an angry Russian exchange student riding in on a carriage and flogging the horse pulling it.
