Is Cousins going to win this for you if RG3 goes down? Why do you want to commit to having dead money on your roster?Depends on the cost of the handcuff imoHandcuffing is a losing proposition in this contest IMO.Fascinating. Only 28 teams have both Foster and Tate. Tate seemed like cheap insurance to me.
e.g. RGIII and Cousins for a combined $23 seems like a good deal. Vick/Foles for $16 was probably also a decent bet if you believe in the Eagles offense.
And, I also think for it to work it has to be a true handcuff, not simply a RBBC situation, where both players have limited value when both are healthy. I think it needs to be an all-or-nothing proposition.I always have some "dead" money on my roster - guys who end up not scoring for my team. This year, I did grab RGIII, and for an extra $3 bought insurance for when he gets hurt. So I looked at more like buying the Redskins QB for $23 - which I thought was fair value. I liked that combo more than the less expensive Vick/Foles. With the flexible roster size, it seems smart to hedge certain bets.
Maybe - if he plays well enough to cover P. Manning's bye week. I also think he has more upside with the Redskins than I thought Foles had with the Eagles. I think, in general, the "pistol" QBs will outscore the "traditional" QBs, but I also think there is a good chance that QBs like RGIII, Vick, Kaepernick will be injured and not finish the season. So - while I like their upside - not playing is a big downside. Is Cousins going to win this for you if RG3 goes down? Why do you want to commit to having dead money on your roster?Depends on the cost of the handcuff imoHandcuffing is a losing proposition in this contest IMO.Fascinating. Your understanding of economics is apparently far beyond mine. Why would the number of buys increase tenfold for a difference of $2-3 in price?$5?!You've got to be kidding me.

My last second changes at QB mean I'm gone week 12 (Russel Wilson/Vick with the same bye) regardless, but I gotta say taking Calvin (7.7) isn't looking real great right now. Since the rest of the offense had so much success I'm really hoping defenses can't focus Calvin as much moving forward and he bounces back.I hope a lot of Calvin Johnson owners get booted this week.
Wait, you're buying the backup of your backup? Uh, okay. To each their own I guess. I think that money would be used much better elsewhere.Maybe - if he plays well enough to cover P. Well, I don't really look at RGIII as my back-up - this week, sure. But I expected to use RGIII as often, or more, than Manning -so long as RGIII was healthy. I still look at them as 1a and 1b in a best ball format. I've just hedged on 1b a little.Wait, you're buying the backup of your backup? Uh, okay. To each their own I guess. +1 on Roberts. Loving J Bell as my #3 RB (and Bush as my #1) but Roberts is one of the WRs I'll regret not keeping.Agreed. I really regret removing him, but Edelman, Burleson, and Gibson are holding down the [bargain WR] fort for now.Tons of bargains that have already been mentioned, but after one week I'm really liking the $6 I spent on Andre Roberts. Plenty of yards for all three AZ receivers this year
Thompkins got 14 targets. For my leagues I hope that never happens again, but he'll eventually be productive for me here.
it's $3. I don't mind the "backup to your backup" thing, but that much $ on QB seems excessive.Wait, you're buying the backup of your backup? Uh, okay. To each their own I guess. Either or. Doesn't matter. The point is, that $3 could be have been used for Thomas, Thompkins, a K, a D, etc. instead of a QB3 who will most likely never score (or may not even play a snap this season)... and if he does score, something has gone horribly wrong with your QB1 and QB2 that you're probably not winning the contest anyway. 1. I'm sure OC knows how many people contributed last year and what they contributed and factored it in.
2. I highly doubt that 5-10x as many people would buy at $2 vs. $5.
3. PayPal takes 2.9% + 0.30 per transaction. That 0.30 kills you at this pricing level. So 100 @ $5 is the same as 175 @ $3 and 275 @ $2. And all of that is about $455. Given the number of hours to program, run the weekly data and verify it, that's probably $10/hour or less - before any hosting costs. Basically minimum wage, and a pittance compared to the enjoyment folks get from knowing where they stand, liv
Totally agree. I for one have never used his site or services and don't intend to, but if the live scoring was something that you wanted I think $5 for the season for the work involved is more than fair. About half the entries will be eliminated by week 6 so you're talking $0.83 a week for the service on average. If that's too rich for your blood, you can wait until Tuesday morning. As a former software engineer and someone who understand both cost-based and value based pricing, I agree.Three things:$5?!OC set up his live scoring app again this year: http://ffltools.com/fbg35k/, is that what you're referring to?A couple of years ago someone posted a team number for using My Fantasy league software. OC is not making much $$ on this offering given the number of hours to set up and maintain... and if he is, why should anyone care? If one thinks they can compete with a better, cheaper option, no one's stopping them.
I have Thomas, Thompkins, 3 Ks and 3 Ds. I did not see any other $3 players I thought had enough upside to score in this format.Either or. Doesn't matter. I'm not talking about your team or those players specifically; they were just examples. If RGIII gets hurt before week 9 - not an unlikely scenario - I have a QB who can play during the bye week instead of a Zero. I'd love for it to be dead money, and RGIII performs as a top-5 QB every week. But, I think that Cousins has enough upside as the starter that he could put up decent numbers in this format - conversely, I did not think Foles would put up big numbers for the Eagles when he has to start for the Eagles.
I certainly could have looked to upgrade other players by $3 - but I just looked at like spending $23 for RGIII/Redskins QB instead of getting two QBs. ANd, I liked that value for the season. When I lose, it won't be because I have Cousins...
Go to the MyFBG page and scroll down--there's a link to name your contest team.how do you change your team name from the numbers?
Taking backups or handcuffs aren't my style in this format, but I don't think it's as ridiculous as some people are making it out to be. The Vick / Foles situation really surprised me. You're essentially paying $16 for an extremely risky player in Vick. Bumping him from $9 to $16 removes any of his perceived value IMO. If you're relying on Foles to carry you through after Vick goes down, you're probably going to be making an early exit. I guess if you think Foles would be a top 10 guy it would make sense but I don't think any is making that claim.Taking backups or handcuffs aren't my style in this format, but I don't think it's as ridiculous as some people are making it out to be.
