Subscriber Playoff Contest is LIVE (1 Viewer)

First year doing this contest and I am a little confused. How many players total start each week? I know you can only have 2 from a team

Taken right from the rules:

  • Aside from the cap, there are no roster limits or positional requirements at all. Take only five players, or take 40. Take all QBs, or take none. It's up to you.

That still doesn't tell me how many start each week. Just says I can take 15 kickers if I want

It's postseason contest tradition to not clarify the rules for people. Every year there are lots of people who seem to misunderstand how the contest works, and that's better for the rest of us. :)

Just read the rules, it's not too complicated.

It absolutely tells you that. The answer is "it depends on how you've built your team." There are no minimums/maximums at any positions. It pretty much spelled it out in that bit that was quoted above.

If you blew you entire budget on every WC round QB, you could start all of them since they don't play for the same team, etc, etc.

I don't get what's so confusing about this. You will get scores from your top 2 from each NFL team. There are no "starters", or "starting lineup". If you took 15 kickers you'd get all of their points. If that's enough to get you through to week 2 then great, the only problem is you would lose a bunch of your players since only half of them will carry on to week 2.

Any guess at how many pts it will take to advance each round? Maybe the #'s from the last couple seasons would help, along with # of entries. I can't seem to find them.

So I say "Maybe the #'s from the last couple seasons would help" and your reply is "0, 225, 100"

Yeah, that's probably a good thing to specify. "This is a guess"

There was a thread from last year that people can find the numbers. I looked the other day and it was something like 43, 144, 110. I could easily be off by +/- 10 in rounds 2 and 3. That said the prior year to that the cutoffs were higher but with these crazy new prices are going to make those cutoffs largely irrelevant. The first round 0 is a possibility depending on what strategies folks employ.

I figured that since guess was explicitly stated in your question it was implied all responses would be guesses.

This is a tough contest to win. Basically you need to squeak by in the 20th week & pray you have selected the Super Bowl participants properly.

That's the only way to win this one.

Last years cutoff's

- 18 - 19 - 20 - 21 46.65 125.45 102.20 0.00Week 21 is obviously zero because it's the final week

To the newcomers, this is obviously an extremely difficult contest. Ideally you want to pick players who will advance hence, give you more than one week of points. You have to get enough points in each week to advance. If you guess wrong about which teams will advance it obviously hurts you. If you can pick players that will advance from WC round to SB then you did good. But the bottom line is, 1) all you want to do each week is make the cutoff and 2) you need enough points SB week to place.

As for lineups, you don't set one. All of the players on your roster are in play with one exception......if you have more than 2 players/DEF from the same NFL team you can only count the 2 highest scores per week. The rules give an example but I'll give another one. If you pick Golden Tate, Calvin Johnson and Detroit defense you will only be able to accumulate points for the 2 with the highest scores. The other one will not count. On the other hand, if you pick 18 players/DEF's and don't have more than 2 from any single NFL team every single player/DEF on your roster will count. Scores reset each week and you are then just playing to advance again with the same rules applying as the first week.

All of that changes on SB week though when every single player on your roster will count regardless of how many are from the same NFL team.

Like any other playoff contest, your step one will always be to map out your projected playoff outcomes. The most useful outcome is if you have a wildcard team going all the way to the SB (e.g. '07 Giants or '10 Packers). If you don't have any wildcard teams going all the way then you will have to burn some dollars on players in the wildcard whom you hope to get 2 or maybe even 3 games out of. Hopefully you picked enough wildcard players to get by round 1. The next round the players whom you have projected to goto the SB are all available to you now. Stock up as much as you can from both teams (i.e. Seahawks and Patriots). Now, if you don't think your team will advance because you're too stacked then you will have to spend your money somewhere else just to get pass the cut -- this is the skill portion of the contest. Not only do you need to predict the eventual SB participants, you have the walk the fine line of stacking enough players to win the contest but not too many as to get knocked out. Enjoy!

Load up on the bye week teams.
Trolling or truth?

Seems logical with 4000 making the first cut and this contest being short notice - I didn't even see it posted last year and I was 100% into the normal subscriber contest.
It's always posted short notice and there were still 5000 teams last year. You can't ignore the first week and make it.

Did you read the rules?

I was kinda hoping they'd close this earlier today. Looking forward to seeing what teams were most popular.
