Suggestions for someone getting back into fantasy baseball? (1 Viewer)

I havent played fantasy baseball in years, and when I did play, it was daily salary cap games (Smallworld, The Sporting News). Im not looking for a serious league, just something to ease back into fantasy baseball.

Would a traditional roto league be my best bet? I dont think Id be interested in a weekly head-to-head league. Is there some other (relatively) new format I should consider?

Any recommended sites for draft prep and in-season strategy?

Kind of like easing yourself into the deep end of the poolIf you're just trying to get your feet wet, join a roto league(or try a points league) on yahoo/ESPN. They are free and will give you the guidelines to help you get up and running for years to comeOnly drawback is you get what you pay for. Many owners will give up/quit after the first couple months of the season.

I joined a Yahoo public league and the auto-draft happened last night. Here's my team.

My infield seems pretty solid, probably at the expense of my outfield after Kemp. I dont think I want to roster 3 2B eligible players. Im not too excited about Jeter either. SB will probably be my weakness.

Starting pitchers are kind of like the outfielders - a solid #1 and then question marks. I ok with Rodney (11th round) but I doubt Id have drafted Hanrahan and Grilli if it had been a live draft. I figure Ill be sending Pettitte back into the player pool in the first waiver run.

Any thoughts? I had hoped that a site like FantasyPros would be up and running for the 2013 season. In football anyway, it could look through "expert" rankings and highlight free agents in your leagues.

Im talking about the feature where you can put in your league and team ids and get rankings/projections/etc. for your players and free agents in your league.

I see you cut bait with Jeter and Ackley for Dee Gordon and Jackie Bradley Jr. I wouldn't have made the Jeter/Gordon swap. I guess the Bradley swap is ok. It presents a problem though because you now have too many OF on your bench. I'd drop one of them for Ross Detwiler (probably Murphy) and would probably put in a claim for Anthony Rizzo with another one (Brown or Bradley).

Overall, you've got a strong team. Your pitching will take some management during the year, though.

He claims he'll be back April 6th, but based upon reports about his running, I think he might need all of April.As for advice, I like hardballtalk over at NBC for a news feed. MLBdepthcharts is really useful to keep up on position battles, but that's less of an issue for a shallow league. And really there is no better site than fangraphs for general baseball analysis throughout the season.
