Summer music mix for the kids (1 Viewer)

Last summer, I put together a music mix that my family loved. They listened to it all summer long and would like another one for this summer.

The problem is, I pulled that list together from music over the past decade for the most part. I've put together one for this summer, but I don't think it's as fun.

Help me pick some good tunes for the summer. My kids are 11, 9, and 6. The songs need to be clean.

I can't vouch for all the lyrics. The songs don't swear and none of the songs are explicitly about anything bad. I can't vouch for every verse tho.

Northern Voice, thanks - I've got other songs by a number of bands on that list, that looks promising.

The kids love Dancing On My Own, but they wore it out for us before I put the first mix together. My wife will end up hearing this list ~50 times this summer based on last year's play counts, so anything that's already been worn out can't make the list (apart from Gangnam Style - it just makes the kids too happy to leave off).

 
I just realized that those aren't static links - as I've been hacking up the lists (I think combining ilov80s and Dreaded Marco even), it changes what the links point to... I'll edit out the earlier lists.

Dotting this cause I obviously need to check out a few of these bands.

Brett Dennen's "Darlin do not fear" is one of the best acoustic songs I have ever heard. And since you're throwing some Weezer on there. Rock Star from the Red Album is fun.

Temper Trap's Sweet Disposition is awesome.

And for kids in search of themselves nothing really beats "In the Middle" by Jimmy Eat World.

 
I noticed everything you have is recent, is that by choice? I could obviously suggest plenty of great summer songs from 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Check out the Best Album threads and the spotify threads, I believe they have links to all the playlists of the albums. Also, there is a best Song of 2013 that has a Spotfiy list as well.

It is by choice - my wife and I will hear these songs a gazillion times this summer, and we're tired of old songs.

I'll have to put together a Spotify for this summer's list in case people want to listen to that. I'm starting to build next summer's now, starting with the suggestions made by people in this thread - Vampire Weekend's release should help that.

Maybe 3-4 songs have been taken off the list so far due to people not caring for them. I dumped the Beyonce song before they listened to the list the first time.

 
Oh yeah - the Awolnation song This Kid's Not Alright is a clean version... otherwise it's not kid-friendly about 1 second into the song.
