Summerpalooza V -- Playoffs Over -- Eephus Is Now Two-Time Summerpalooza Champion (1 Viewer)

With the sixth pick in round 11, the Hoodoo Guru selects

11.06 , Jeff Wilson Jr., SF 49ers

Song:
Bittersweet by Hoodoo Gurus

I needed to work in a song from my team namesake, and one of my favorite Aussie bands. The first tour to the United States of the Hoodoo Gurus was in 1984 and featured several concerts in San Francisco, including October 13 at The Stone. Whenever Wilson takes the field it's bittersweet, as it means the 49ers lead back is injured.

The Stone held down the Northeast terminus of the Broadway strip in SF. Broadway hosted a collection of strip joints, sex shops and music venues that was unlike anything Young Eephus had ever seen. When the Stone didn't have touring acts, it mostly booked Metal bands. It was located directly across the street from two Punk clubs: The Mabuhay Gardens and the On Broadway. I don't remember any fights between members of the two tribes but the crowds were pretty wild.

The VCR killed off the sex businesses on Broadway in the late 80s and took the music venues down with it.

It looks like my RB Brian Robinson, Jr was shot. NV owns Antonio Gibson and is missing. hmmmmm I'm kidding, but BR was really shot. I hope he will be ok.

Yeah. It's been said not to be life threatening, but he was shot multiple times, according to the report.

Apparently it was in the commission of some sort of robbery. How ugly and sad.

The WFT franchise has a bad record of players getting shot in lower extremities during robberies.

Jeff Wilson got taken from me so I’ll take another guy who needs an injury to get playing time.

11.09 D’Onta Foreman RB CAR

Song later.

Foreman went to college at the U of Texas. Trail of Dead are from Austin.

Plus "How Near, How Far" is as good a phrase as any to characterize a backup RB.

... I'm sure this has been mentioned, but the Google Sheet is pretty fubarred right now, and the issue are beyond sorting. If it will help, I have all the draft picks -- same exact columns as the Google Sheet -- in an offline Excel sheet through the end of Round 10. The Google Sheet could be blown out, repopulated from my sheet through Round 10, and then manually populated from there.

(How do you guys end up replacing the header row with a draft selection? o_O )

I don't think I've ever listened to these guys before. I was always intimidated by their name.
The album that one comes from, Source Tags and Codes, is amazing. One of my favorites of the ‘00s. Their other albums are spottier.
20 years ago, this tour— these dudes on this record opening for Queens of the Stone Age touring on Songs for the Deaf, Lanegan in tow… just blowing the roofs off joints

looks like it just needed to be sorted twice - it looks ok to me now.

Also as a heads up to the group. Tomorrow and Wednesday are incredibly busy for me at work with all day meetings and I will likely only be on late night Cali time. I apologize in advance if this holds things up. Depending where we are with the picks I may just have someone pick for me. Thanks

I have an anecdote about that tour. I might have told it in the GP4 thread. Don’t have time to get to it now, but I’ll try to remember it later:
