Summerpalooza VII Music/Football Draft - In Palooza Vision with Last Gen Songs (1 Viewer)

Added Allen Lazard - NYJ

Laura Nyro - It's Gonna Take a Miracle (born in NY)

An artist I associate 100% with wikkid, who loved her and tried to push her on us all the time!
As @New Binky the Doormat probably knows, Nyro was a huge influence on Todd Rundgren. Much of his early material, before he got “experimental,” was heavily influenced by her. She even offered him a position as her musical director, which he couldn’t accept because of other contractual obligations.

Just heard CMC is going to miss another 6-8 weeks, going to be a long season
Having the top pick in a 14 man league and losing that player is tough to come back from. Crazy that it was kept so under wraps. My college friends league is also 14 teams and CMc went 1 there as well.
Did they report the Achilles tendonitis leading up to the week 1 game? Seems like it was just the calf they put on the injury report, but I'm not sure.

I only heard about the calf and most indications were that he would play Week 1.

The first mention of the Achilles was on the Thursday of week 1, but Shanahan played it down. We didn’t learn until Monday that he would miss that night’s game. Then he had a setback on the Thursday of week 2 and went on IR.

WR Jahan Dotson - Philadelhia Eagles

An Eagle WR to replace my two injured Eagle WRs.

The Eagles will have four active WRs today and none of them were on the team last year. Plus they’re missing their best OL. I couldn’t even begin to predict how this is going to play out.

I think that we probably could have predicted this honestly…

Added Jordan Whittington, WR, Los Angeles Rams

The Kinks - Celluloid Heroes (album version)

But please, don't tread on dearest Marilyn
'Cause she's not very tough
She should have been made of iron or steel
But she was only made of flesh and blood

Added

Joe Flacco - QB - Colts

Benny Golson/Art Farmer - "Killer Joe"

Flacco was key to my playoff run last year and QB is really thin in case Anthony Richardson's hip keeps him out.

"Killer Joe" was written and originally performed by Benny Golson who passed away last month at the age of 95. With Golson's death, Sonny Rollins is now the only surviving musician from the famous photograph that's become known as A Great Day in Harlem.

Added/Dropped

Sterling Shepard, WR, TB

3 minutes - 2 skinnee js

3 minutes and you’re outta here, sterling. Never intended it to be this way but he looked decent on Sunday and though Evans might be out, but now I am not going to start him and would rather not have him clogging the bench all weekend.

simey and I have been predicted by Yahoo to win each of the first four weeks. We lost them all. Here's hoping that being the underdogs this week will light a fire under our guys, though with our 1st and 2nd round picks, among others, on bye, it doesn't seem likely.

Anyway, we picked up the Denver D/ST because whatever. Here's a wikkid favorite from a band with members from the "Rocky Mountaineers," some of whom were born in Colorado.

Sons of the Pioneers - Cool Water

Dameon Pierce - RB - HOU

Cycles - The Pizzarelli Boys

I continue my cycling through Texans backup RBs.
Akers - draft, drop, add, drop
Pierce - draft, drop, add

The Pizzarelli Boys are a family outfit with guitarist John Pizzarelli playing alongside his father and brother. I liked their version of "Cycles" which was originally a title track of a Sinatra album from his late 60s Pop period.

Added Christian Watson, WR, Packers

The White Stripes - I’m Bound to Pack It Up

Add

Cam Akers - RB - Houston

Pharoah Sanders - "Say It (Over and Over Again)"

Akers - draft, drop, add, drop, add
Pierce - draft, drop, add

Sanders is best known for his groundbreaking improvisations and extended droning tones from his late 60s records but he plays inside on this lovely ballad recorded in 1991 (with the musically named Eccleston W. Wainwright on the drums)

Add

Curtis Samuel - WR - Buffalo

Avishai Cohen - "Samuel"

Pierce - draft, drop, add, drop

Cohen is an Israeli-born bassist who is a protege of Chick Corea. "Samuel" is a recording from 2006 that may be named after the trio's pianist Sam Barsh who's gone on to work with Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak and Logic.

The Houston rb roulette wheel is hot today

Matthew Wright - K - SF

Phil Woods Quintet - "Right as the Rain"

The great alto player Phil Woods is best known in rock circles for his sax solo on Steely Dan's "Doctor Wu" but he had a long career as a jazzman. This is a swinging version of a Harold Arlen tune from the 1944 Broadway musical Bloomer Girl, which dealt with antebellum abolitionist and women's rights movements.

Philly Joe Jones - Trailways Express

Philly Joe was the drummer of Miles Davis' first great quintet in the mid-50s. This recording of his up tempo composition "Trailways Express" is from a decade later with Jones leading a septet of English jazz musicians.
