Handful of highlights...
The Bills are reportedly finally ready to roll with their expected opening weekend secondary. Stephon Gilmore and Jairus Byrd should be full time players today, which would push Aaron Williams back to safety. Da'Norris Searcy will see his snaps decrease as a result -- in most weeks, but not today. The Saints are likely to spread the field enough to keep Searcy on the field for a large number of subpackage snaps today, especially with Manny Lawson doubtful with a hamstring injury. Jim Leonhard's snaps are a concern, however. There's a slim chance the Bills continue to rotate everyone heavily and / or Leonhard is considered a better option than Searcy by the coaches. But I suspect we see Williams as a DB2+, Searcy as a DB3+ and I'd not risk Leonhard except in very deep leagues.
Cameron Wake fully practiced this week, but there's still reason to worry over his stat line. He reportedly looked good in practice last week, but clearly wasn't right. Unless you have no other good options, I'd wait to see Wake take 50+ snaps and/or return to his usual effectiveness (play with better leverage, stay off the ground, show his usual lean and turn) before using him in a fantasy lineup. Dannell Ellerbe should be back this week after missing time with a shoulder injury.
Ryan Mundy missed snaps last week, but is still the starting safety. I believe Will Hill's snaps are more tied to the health of Terrell Thomas than Mundy. That's been hard to predict. I would guess that Thomas sees more time against Philadelphia today, with Rolle playing more safety than slot corner, but that's just a guess. Jason Pierre-Paul told reporters this week that he wouldn't be at full strength until next year. He looked strong enough in his situational role last week and the Eagles are another good matchup today.
Washington will be without Reed Doughty and Brandon Meriwather today. The team has been rotating a number of safeties in practice, unfortunately, and it's tough to rely on Bacarri Rambo or Trenton Robinson despite the good matchup. If you're willing to gamble, Rambo is probably your most reliable bet.
Clay Matthews remains out for Green Bay. Mike Neal is now rotating with Andy Mulumba and Nate Palmer. None are great bets, even in deep big play leagues, despite a decent matchup. Brad Jones fully practiced on Wednesday, but didn't take a full complement of reps in any practice this week and is questionable. I wouldn't count on him starting or playing full time tonight. Wait a week before getting him back in your lineup, unless you want to wait and hedge with Jamari Lattimore.
