Sunday injury thread (1 Viewer)

http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4506/fred-jackson

The Bills believe the knee injury Fred Jackson sustained against the Jets Sunday is a sprain.

Jackson appears to have dodged the dreaded ligament tear. This jibes with earlier reports that he sustained a sprained LCL when LaRon Landry awkwardly hit him from the side in the second quarter. Jackson will go for an MRI on Monday and we'd expect to hear a timetable shortly after that. Explosive C.J. Spiller rumbled for 169 yards in relief against the Jets. Sep 9 - 6:25 PM

Jaguars had three starting OL injured today

Ryan O'Halloran ‏@ryanohalloranFrom the #jaguars locker room. 1. Britton, Bradfield and Nwaneri all had walking boots on left ankle.

Doug Baldwin down, they said he just landed on the ball but he cost them a late timeout so he better be hurt :)

What type of results should I expect from the treatment of a MCL/LCL Sprain/Tear?

In most cases, a period of rest followed by some rehabilitation will be successful in strengthening and stabilizing the knee joint. For minor sprains and partial tears, it may only take a week or two of rest before normal activity may be resumed. Moderate injuries may take 3 -4 weeks to heal and more severe injuries may take 6 weeks or more. When surgery is necessary, it may take months of recovery and rehabilitation before a return to sports and usual activity levels can be fully resumed. Wearing a knee brace helps to add stability to the knee joint even after recovery is achieved.

How long will the effects last?

The length of recovery depends on many factors such as your age, health, and if you have had a previous knee injury. Recovery time also depends on the severity of the sprain. A mild lateral collateral sprain may recover within a few weeks, whereas a severe sprain may take 6 weeks or longer to recover. Completely torn lateral collateral ligaments may require surgery. If you need surgery to repair a torn ligament, your recovery may take 1 to 3 months.
We see players having MCL sprains all the time, but rarely see them spraining the LCL. Most of the time when we hear about LCL sparains/tears, it seems like it occurs with other damage as well. It seems odd to just have an LCL sprain.

More damage may show up in the MRI that is happening tomorrow.

D Thomas took himself out of the game seemingly grimacing and holding his groin.

As a Spiller owner it was nice to see F-Jax out of the game and let Spiller shine...what a game!! Hopefully he will be out for a few weeks to let Spiller cement his role as the lead back.

Jimmy Graham got popped on a helmet-to-helmet hit late in the game yesterday. He didn't come out of the game, but he got his bell rung pretty dang hard. Stayed on the ground for a minute until he could shake out the cobwebs. Really don't know how he was able to stay in the game. I would bet money that he was concussed on that play. Nothing really to see here, but certainly something to keep in mind.

Jay Adams ‏@FalconsJAdams

Smitty says Brent Grimes had MRI this morning. Has injured Achilles. Will be placed on IR.

Falcons defense just got worse, not sure if a big deal for IDP players but could mean the Falcons are even more likely to need to outscore people.
