*** Super BOWL XL Game Thread *** (1 Viewer)

Much like the Denver/Green Bay Super Bowl, do you think Holmgren will let the Steelers score right away so the Seahawks can get the ball back?
Depends on field position

Yes, some of us had a feeling officiating would get in the way of this game..

The DJ TD

The Big Ben call for TD to make it hard to turnover

then the 1st on the 1 yard line, called by the worst holding call since week 4....

This is a travesty.

 This is a 2 possession game. Why in the world would Seattle allow Pitt to score?

I think you have to be touched WHILE you're down.

He wasn't down yet when Foote hit his shoulder, and Foote didn't knock him down.

At least that's my understanding of the rule.
You dont understand the rule.
:goodposting: Down by contact. If he put a pinkie on him, they overturn and say down by contact. Rule is pretty clear cut.

...just a cheap shot on Holmgren and the Packers from a Bears fan. ;)

Jackson extended his right arm and pushed off directly in front of the ref. That's called every time, especially when his arm is fully extended like that. DJax should've scored on that play, because he didn't need to push off at all.

And on Ben's TD, if you watched the replay, it's pretty clear that the end of the ball tucked by Ben's elbow may have crossed the plane before he was hit. It might not have, but it was too close to be overturned.

They got the fumble call correct. Hasselbeck's elbow and forearm were down anyways.

I think Seattle should have gone for it on 4th down.

Seattle's D isn't playing well and the Steelers might take some time off the clock now.

hawks are getting hosed, plain and simple.  i don't want to complain about it...i don't want it to happen at all...but it is.
:goodposting: What an utter load of :bs: this is. If I were a Seahawks fan I'd be pissed. Shame on the official who made that holding call.
No doubt. If I was a Seahawk fan, I'd be downright livid. As a football fan, I'm disappointed that we are getting such a horribly officiated game. What's worse is that the bad calls are completely one-sided. Only a Steelers homer would disagree.

First off I am not a fan of either of these teams. I was hoping for a great game that I could enjoy watching with my family but it just hasn't happened. Further, I do not mean to come across as a whiner but I just cannot believe what I'm seeing tonight.

With all do respect to all Steeler fans, this is the worst Super Bowl I've ever seen. No way should Pitts have 21 points. No way should Seattle only have 10. I am usually the first to defend the refs because they just can't win no matter what they do. But in this case I cannot defend the refs calls. This is just unbelievable. I have never seen the refs "appear" to be for a team until now. Clearly they are in favor of the Steelers because the Seahawks can't catch a break.

Of all the big plays, only Pitts 75 yard run was a play that Steelers earned. The others were by the hand of the refs. The refs have also manged to keep the Hawks out of end zone twice.

So again, I think this is the most embarrassing game I have ever witnessed and while the Steeler fans cannot control what's going on, I wouldn't be too proud if I were you guys. If I were a Steeler fan I would be embarrassed to take credit for this win.

As for the Seahawk fans, what can I say. They have had this game systematically taken away from them in spite of their best efforts. The Seahawks have dominated this game from the beginning but the refs are the great equalizer tonight.

So Steeler fans, feel free to bash me all you want as I'm sure you will anyway. But clearly inside you know you have not won this came. You may be awarded the trophy but you did not win it. You were handed this game. It's a very sad day in the NFL.

If I were a Seahawk fan I would be used to dissapointment!(Cheap shot, I was actually pulling for the SeaFowl)

The final holding call was a bad one. First 2 calls were correct IMO.The holding call could & likely will be the difference in this game (14 point swing). It's a shame because I thought the crew did a solid job up to this point.

First of all, people, the game isn't over.

Secondly, (serious question), how much would Pitt have to win by before you feel this win isn't "tainted"?

Bus has played a key role in tonight's game -- the fattest, ugliest cheerleader in the history of the NFL.

What about Jerramy Stevens fumble that wasn't called in the first quarter? He caught the ball, put both feet down, twisted and then had the bar jarred loose by the Crazy Samoan.

That was CLEARLY a fumble, but the refs blew the whistle so fast, Pitt never tried to recover the fumble.

Thanks... I'd have ZERO problem if Pittsburgh or Seattle deserved the win outright... but with this officiating we have no clue... we REALLY don't....A shame....

The media is already glossing over the Ben TD as the big "hmmmm" of the game. A travesty...

That replay shows the clock at zero before the TO

Another excellent call by the officials

This has to be one of the worst Officiated games I've seen in my life.

Seattle has been playing against two opponents in this game. The way the game has been called, they've stood as much chance of winning it, as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest would.

When the Steelers win this game, they should just hand it over to the Refs.

We would not bash you if you actually sustanciated any of you're remarks. The only thing you have offered is opinion and of course Steelers fans have those as well. Feel free to tell us why the deliberate push of in the endzone directly in front of the ref should have been let go by the refs. Feel free to tell us why the call on the field that clearly could have gone both ways and was totaly inconclusive even upon review should have been overturned. Feel free to tell us how the Int by Hassy was the refs fault when he overthrew the ball buy 8 yds. Feel free do say anything that substanciates you're claim. I will listen. :D

Actually - he did not get his 2nd foot down once he gaiend possession.

Too late. It's already tainted. They handed the game to pittsburgh

Congratulations, Pittsburgh! Way to get handed a Super Bowl! Usually teams EARN Super Bowls, but not this team. Gift wrapped in a nice neat little package from the NFL.

Sorry, Seattle, you was robbed.
