Can't wait to see Holmgren at the podium postgame.

He'll probably be classy, but his complaining at the end of the first half leads me to believe he just might let loose.

I hope he does. The NFL deserves to be exposed on this one.

He should look in the mirror and complain about his own play calling. Even there at the end he couldn't get it right.

Agreed with all the other non-partisans.

Steeler fans should acknowledge the refs playing a HUGE part in this game.

At least 4-5 calls were horrible.

How about the OBVIOUS delay of game penalty prior to the Big Ben "timeout"?

This championship will forever be known as the "Screw Bowl".

If the refs don't get involved in the outcome, Holmgren 'getting it right' at the end wouldn't have been an issue.

I don't think he will. End of the half complaining can make a difference. After the game it can't. I doubt a guy who's won before would want to "taint" another guy's win in any way by being a poor loser.

Let's see if the NFL comes out and admits that the refs blew umpteen calls in this game, too.

Also, since when does an umpire pin a player to the ground and get in his face?

First off I am not a fan of either of these teams. I was hoping for a great game that I could enjoy watching with my family but it just hasn't happened. Further, I do not mean to come across as a whiner but I just cannot believe what I'm seeing tonight.

With all do respect to all Steeler fans, this is the worst Super Bowl I've ever seen. No way should Pitts have 21 points. No way should Seattle only have 10. I am usually the first to defend the refs because they just can't win no matter what they do. But in this case I cannot defend the refs calls. This is just unbelievable. I have never seen the refs "appear" to be for a team until now. Clearly they are in favor of the Steelers because the Seahawks can't catch a break.

Of all the big plays, only Pitts 75 yard run was a play that Steelers earned. The others were by the hand of the refs. The refs have also manged to keep the Hawks out of end zone twice.

So again, I think this is the most embarrassing game I have ever witnessed and while the Steeler fans cannot control what's going on, I wouldn't be too proud if I were you guys. If I were a Steeler fan I would be embarrassed to take credit for this win.

As for the Seahawk fans, what can I say. They have had this game systematically taken away from them in spite of their best efforts. The Seahawks have dominated this game from the beginning but the refs are the great equalizer tonight.

So Steeler fans, feel free to bash me all you want as I'm sure you will anyway. But clearly inside you know you have not won this came. You may be awarded the trophy but you did not win it. You were handed this game. It's a very sad day in the NFL.
Unfortunately, I completely agree.

Not entirely true. I am HUGE Holmgren fan (and I'm not a Seattle homer), but to see Holmgren snub Cowher on the handshake was pretty low.

Congrats Steeler fans. When you were 7-5, it looked like 'wait til next year' again. Great run in the playoffs. Enjoy the Lombardi!

As a Pats homer, I look forward to taking it back next year!

Congrats Steeler fans. I want to take it back from you next year. See you then.
Great season for Sea. They are the team I was hoping to make it to the SB from the NFC all year long. Was a sloppy game all around unfortunatly. Let's hope both teams can carry this over to next year and also hope that they can actually paly a better game if they make it back to this point. :bag:

I hate to say it but this is a completely tainted Super Bowl win.Sorry Stiller fans. That's the truth.

Hope the mods deleted all the wasted threads below.
Yeah, because I want to scroll through 20 pages of stuff. What's wrong with having different topics devoted to different threads?I mean, let's just start one thread entitled things that happen on earth and put EVERYTHING in there then.

NFL will admit nothing. Every Wednesday they trot their director of officiating out to explain why you can't believe what you saw on Sunday and why their officials made the right call in every circumstance.

The offensive pass interference -- falls under the letter of the rule, though it's not called that way 99 percent of the time.

Ben's TD -- nothing indisputable on replay, so the ref made the right call.

The holding calls -- absolutely perfect.

Maybe they'll confess on the Hasselbeck tackle; by admitting guilt on a relatively minor infraction, they gain plausibility in their denial of all the other blown calls.

:goodposting: Seattle Screw(ed)

So, to all of the people whining about the officiating of this game... do you think Seattle played well enough to win?
Before I answer that... did Pittsburgh play well enough to win?Terrible question... 1st down on the 1 yard line... much less an extra 10 on the Hasselbeck tackle... even after it was all moot.

Steeler fans.. quit the homerism, and talking about how bad Seattle played, the Steelers had a few great plays, but were completely outplayed, and officiating took away key plays, period, from Seattle.

Yes
To go up against dubious calls at pivotal times and make mistakes too? No, but on a more level playing field they could've overcome their mistakes. Honestly, dropped passes were as damagin as bad calls. And clock magmt was atrocious. Could've beaten one of those probs but not both.Stevens and Jackson really let their team down.

Did Ward deserve the MVP? I have no idea who should be getting it.

It was pretty cool to see Jerome Bettis retire there, but I guess he could always change his mind.

How does he explain away calling a TO with a big fat ZERO on the play clock?

A TO can be called by the Sidelines. Which is what happened.

I'd bet any amount of money that didn't happen. Where are you getting this BS from?

Football players generally enjoy playing football, and they make lots of money doing it.

:goodposting: Add these to the unbelievably long list of absolutely AWFUL calls this post-season, and the NFL has a problem. It may not admit it, but if it fails to take action damage will be done to the game.
