Only 5 times in 36 SBs did a top seed in either conference NOT advance. 1997, 1992, 1980, 1979, 1971.

In the AFC the #1 seed advanced 20 times (10-10), the #2 seed 9 times (3-6) the #3 seed none, the #4 seed 5 times, the #5 seed none, the #6 seed 2 times.

In the NFC the #1 seed advanced 22 times,(13-9) the #2 seed 9 times, the #3 seed 4 times, the #4 seed once, the #5 seed none, the #6 seed none.

A wild card team has appeared in a SB 8 times winning four times. 7 AFC teams (*Oakland 1980, New England 1985, Buffalo 1992, *Denver 1997, Tennessee 1999, *Baltimore 2000, *Pittsburgh 2005) 1 NFC team (Dallas) 1975

The # 1 seed in each conference have met 11 times.

#1 vs #2 have met 12 times

#1 seed has won 23 SBs, 10 AFC, 13 NFC.

#2 seed has won 8 SBs 3 AFC, 5 NFC.

#3 seed has won 1 SB ( Washington 1987).

#4 seed has won 3 SBs (Oakland 1980, Denver 1997, Baltimore 2000).

#5 seed none,

#6 once Pittsburgh 2005.

That's interesting.

I would figure, naturally, that the top seed had the best odds but at least this puts it in perspective
