good thread

Not a huge huge huge surprise but

STUD

Devin Hester - no position special teams ace drafted in 2nd round runs punt back @ 80 yards in first NFL game

Chad Johnson wasnt a dud, he was underthrown on an easy TD early and had a few other targets, and then with a big lead they ran the ball most of the last 1.5 quarters

Agreed. He was a dud in terms of what was expected and points, but no reason to be concerned down the line with him.

Rube Droughns. After Cleveland spent a lot of money to improve the line, Droughns could go no where and only had 11 carries. When Frye outrushes you, you were a dud.

I was critical of Jerry Angelo for drafting 2 projects (Manning's case being a virtual unknown) coming out of college in D.Manning and D.Hester, but wow was I wrong.

Hester is the perfect fit on the Chicago Bears. And I think Desmond Clark had a better day than any rookie TE :)

Droughns, Delhomme, Kennison

Delhomme and the CAR offense looked bad the last two preseason games and Jake was throwing his helmet. There was more of that today. Maybe Steve Smith should have been MVP. He apparently makes that offense go. Just like Randy Moss made C-Pepp and the rest of the Vikes look good too.

DUDS

SA

LJ

Drafted 1,2 or 3 and put up damn near goose eggs week 1. This is a FF conversation and there is a good chance you are now 0-1 because of these 2 guys.

I am one of them. I am down 98-74 because of him. I expected 100 & 1 TD.Basically my team hit the dud.Duds:PalmerCotls DTerry GlennWalker

I had Trent Green, Chad Johnson and Thomas Jones......needless to say I am losing by quite a bit this week. Considering the past success he's had against the Packers and the huge lead they had, I consider Jones a dud this week. Looks like Green may be OK soon, which is good news.......

I'd definitely add Joey Galloway to the list for duds - after the first pass that came his way bounced off his chest, he received no more looks the rest of the game. I think you can attribute that more to how absolutely putrid Chris Simms and the TB offensive line looked.I hate to add a kicker to the list, but anyone get an inkling even after one week that Jeff Wilkins could be this year's Neil Rackers or was that just fluky with the 6 FG's against Denver?

Can I nominate my entire team other than my defense for dud? :) This is where some owners panic and start offering up their stud players who underperformed. Best just to hang in there and chalk it up as a bad week.

On that note, I'll go with these guys:

Alexander

Galloway

Hasselbeck

Droughns

Palmer

D.Foster

Roy Williams

C.Williams

Kind of a bad week all around for many QBs. In a custom Yahoo league, Bulger, Palmer, Hasselbeck, Green, and Culpepper averaged 3.3 pts. Several negative scores too (Plummer, Simms, etc)

UGH-ly

To me the biggest dud was Alexander, given that he's a TD machine even the rare times his yardage is scant.

On the upside, I was surprised to see Colston do well his very first game, while Horn had a pedestrian one.

Rube Droughns. After Cleveland spent a lot of money to improve the line, Droughns could go no where and only had 11 carries. When Frye outrushes you, you were a dud.
Especially when you consider he was running against a group of linebackers that have been playing together for about roughly 2 weeks. On the flip side, Kellen Winslow looked fantastic. I don't know what his final stats were, but he blew by the Saints linebackers like they were standing still.

Studs:

Baltimore D. (Not a complete surprise, but 3 INT, 3 Sacks, 1 TD, Under 200 Yards allowed and 0 points?)

Chad Pennington

Brian Westbrook - Coming off an injury, not sure how much time he'd really get or how effective he'd be.

Mushin Muhammed - Not a complete surprise but he was overlooked in every single draft I was in this year. Solid day for him.

Wilkins

Duds:

SA

Bulger

Plummer

Just about 150 total yards, and that'll be one of Johnson's lesser games this season.

Get used to it w/ LJ. He'll be a solid started, but not the super stud. HE's playing for Herm now, and he's lost his tackles from last year. Not just any tackles, all world tackles. He'll be fighting for running room. The Bengals are not an elite D, and this was at home. LJ had an okay game, but he's the #1 pick in most drafts. Those aren't #1 numbers. As for SA, this was somewhat of a surprise. I expected some problems running the ball minus Hutch. He was also all world, and I expected the Lions to be somewhat improved, but not that. That should improve, and be a top 3 fantasy back. I see LJ falling to the 8-10 range.Love what Frank Gore did. Drafted him in the 7th, and didn't play him. My bad. Wanted to believe it was coming, but went against myself and played DeShaun over him. There's another DUD. Bledsoe, DUD. Pennington, STUD

Ahman Green, no TDs but didn't think he could run against the Chicago D and he looked great.

Fred Taylor, if he gets some TDs this year could be in for a very good season until he gets injured of course.

Duds

Anyone in the Cincy/KC game ... Carson Palmer especially, 127 yds, no TDs, thought he was going to be huge in that game.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Ahman Green yet.

He came out with an impressive 110 yard rushing. 22 yars receiving. Against the Bears D.

My goose egg had a 2 in front of it. 20+ points on a bad week? I'll take it. Now Alexander, he's another story but he did the same thing last year... and look what happened.

Galloway was a huge disapointment.

ZERO catches. For a guy who was a stud last year to be completely invisible was a huge let down for his owners.

At least guys like Larry Johnson and Chad Johnson were somewhat visible and gave their owners a reason for optimism in the future.

I'll also add Thomas Jones as a bust.

No one expected him to have a great year, due to the presence of Benson, but I think many people thought he'd have a big game against the Packers.

Biggest surprise for me was the supposidly over-rated Baltimore D piching the shut out on the TB O in Tampa.

Stallworth going big after being on the team for a week was a little shock

Kevin Curtis was a surprise to me. I thought this was the year that he finally took over from a 40-year old Isaac Bruce, but instead he gets 2 targets, 0 catches.

Troupe. :bag:

I know Collins just got there but I figured that would encourage the Titans to go with a simplified offense with a lot a short and quick passes to the likes of Troupe.

I actually watched some of the game, and when Troupe finally caught one late, he turned upfield and it took about three or four Jets to bring him down. If the Titans can just get the ball into his hands he could do quite well. Now I just have to rely on Jeff Fisher to do the smart thing.

Everyone's talking SA - how about Hassleback - his 0 TDs killed me!

Thomas Jones - Figured he run wild - Benson saw some increased time in the 2nd half

Galloway - 0 catches? Guy was all world last year - not a good start

KC OL - train wreck - whole team has been Hermified

Jake Plummer - Wow that was bad!

Car D - not one turnover vs Vick?

Not to hijack, but maybe the Bengals are turning into an elite D. They might not have the biggest names, but maybe Marvin Lewis is getting this D up to where he had Baltimore's defense. It seems that every year a suprise defense jumps into the top 3.

I am trying to sort this one out, too. Not ready to declare him a dud. It would be nice if it is just an issue of Collins getting timing down with his receivers... or whoever they make the permanent QB..assuming they actually do this

PALMERVery worried about this D actually being good
Definitely a dud this week, but it was pouring rain. Here are my duds.1. Greg Jennings - got yanked for Robert Fergueson. That's saying something.2. Joe Horn - was it the double teams?3. Reche Caldwell - given the opportunity, he did squat4. Colts running game - wow, they're stuck

My team of dudes(this week)

Jake D..... No TD's

SA...... No TD's

CJ..... No TD's

Holt..... No TD's

Studs

Plax

Rudi

I need Cooley to out score LT by 10

I nominate all 3 of my rostered QB's, who all went negative points on me according to my league's scoring system. I was drafting a QBBC team and got this garbage...

B. Favre -3 (drafted rnd 16)

C. Simms -7 (drafted rnd 12)

J. Plummer -10 (drafted rnd 8)

AND I started Plummer, the worst of the bunch. :bag:

Thankfully, the rest of my team came to play, and I'm in 3rd place in total points as of Sunday night.

I am in a league that a guy has BOTH of them due to a keeper rule. He's 0-1...but we are still scared!
