Survivor Leagues Week 5 Final (1 Viewer)

Twilight

Footballguy
While I was setting up my spreadsheet for week 5, I got curious. Here's some observations (Results summary in post #2):

WSL 3 had one of the most interesting drafts. At first glance, it looks like they suck, as only 2 teams have topped 500 total points, and Oldfatguy, at 649, has the best score of all the leagues.

But their average score is actually the 3rd best out of the 14 leagues, and their standard deviation is the lowest of all 14, even with OFG's high score. So this was a VERY even draft.

Hardest luck - Tex (503) is the only team scoring over 500 pts to be booted, and the only one to be booted while scoring in the top 4 of their league. There are 4 leagues (not including MBSL2) that have had no unlucky boots, as the four teams booted are the 4 lowest teams (PDSL 1,2,3 and WSL 4)

Boots by Draft position is pretty spread out

The 10 spot was the kinda the death spot, as half of those teams are done, but it does have 2 teams leading their leagues scoring as well. Surprisingly, the #2 spot was second worst, tied with the 15 spot with 6 done.

The top spots to draft from so far is the #1 spot (no surprise) and the #11 (Surprise), both with only 1 out.

1.01 1 21.02 6 01.03 3 11.04 3 01.05 2 11.06 3 01.07 3 21.08 4 01.09 2 31.10 7 21.11 1 11.12 3 01.13 3 01.14 5 01.15 6 11.16 3 1But, with the different drafting periods, maybe the actual 1st rounder might be a little more interesting, and it is, IMO.Brady's being out should be an anchor on his team, and he is. 8/13 teams that drafted him are out. Brady can probably be blamed on the 5/12 Randy Moss's that are out as well., which is tied for the 2nd most.

Who he's tied with is something of a surprise though: Adrian Peterson. 5/14 teams that selected him are out.

Percentage wise, it's Ronnie Brown (100% but only 1 team selected him in the 1st), Brady(62%), then McGahee(44%)

So who was the best pick? Amazingly it's Larry Johnson. No team has been booted that drafted LJ, and 4 are the top scoring team. Wow.

LT and Lynch have lost only 1 team as the next best.

The List:

Player - # drafted 1st - Out - Top Score

Code:

MBSL - JohnDoe and Ravnzfan are out. We knew that.Shadowfax squeezes out the immunity.SSL - Domination, Atomic Punk, LHUCKS, and CometWe knew 3 of those. Team Legacy and Rudnicki managed to pull themselves out of danger, leaving AP to take the hit.Up top Reaper, Shadowmaster, Redzone, and nittanylion.PDSL - CoinFlip and Me we knew.Jeter and fallerjw also saved themselves. Fullback Fro, and Krsone21 didn't, and are out.Bloom, Road Warriors, and Fiddles, and Getinthemix have immunity.WSL - Rzrback, Reaper (BostonFred saved by immunity), Jeff Tefertiller, and Fiddles(in IV) were down last night. No one saved themselves.Fiddles(in I), Renesauz, and Tony Jabroni, Norseman saved themselves next week though

Wow. What crappy scores this week.MBSL - JohnDoe and Ravnzfan are the 2 in danger. Both are done, so no mystery here.SSL - Domination, Team Legacy, LHUCKS, and Comet are in trouble.Domination is done.TL has Brees, Taylor(-4), and Patten (-5). Rudnicki is one up with just Berrian. There are a couple more within 5 as well. This one's open.LHUCKS has Taylor(-11). Duckboy, 2 up has Brees. Advantage, DB.Comet came close to being out last week. This week, the job is finished.PDSL - I get one of my worst scores ever this week. No PDSL championship defense for me, barring psychotic numbers from McAllister and NO D(-4).Joining me are Coin Flip, Jeter23, and fallerjwNO D(-5) isn't enough for CF. Jeter does it one better, as he has both D's tomorrow. There are 4 teams within 4, so he has a shot.So does fallerjw. He has Tavaris(should Ferotte pull an Edwards), Taylor(-7) and Meacham(-3). Krsone21 has just Rice(-2) and just a 2 pt lead. This will be tightWSL - Rzrback, Reaper, Jeff Tefertiller, and Fiddles are low in the WSLs.Rzrback just has Thomas(-6) for too big a deficit. Bye.Reaper's done.JT is as well.Fiddles has ADP and Rice(-2). Gamma1210 is 9 pts up with Berrian, Meachem (0,-5) A good day from ADP can save him, but...

Twilight,

Thanks again for the efforts, and the interesting analysis. Somehow, with both Brady and Garcia as my QBs (and Drew Carter Oak WR, Jerry Porter Jax WR) I remain in competition.

Is there a late rounder that is surprisingly productive?

I imagine that many people went Patriot and Colt heavy, which has not panned out too well this year. Aside from the Cowboys, seems like few of the "predictable" performances have held true. Add on the troubles in the Bengals and Warner qbing the Cardinals, etc, lots of surprises this year.

It will be interesting to analyze this season in retrospect when it is over.

Thinking about it, aren't there about four or five starting qbs who are not playing right now? Brady, Bulger, Leinart, Tarvaris (SP?), Garcia, add in Grossman and the list gets longer than anyone would have guessed.

Several top dollar free agents have been disappointing, Jerry Porter, Javon Walker come to mind. Emergence of some explosive RBs (Forte, C Johnson, Felix Jones) and the loss of Mendenhall whom everyone thought was well positioned.

Been an interesting season so far.

I'll be looking at it in the next few weeks. One thing about doing this with Excel is that I can play with the data a little easier than with FFLM like previous years.

I guess having the dynamic duo of Vince Young and Jon Kitna at quarterback only goes so far ... :lamo:
I'm somehow surviving in SSL1 with Palmer and Croyle, LOL. It's amazing what a good idea that seemed back in the spring.

Twi,

In the IDP league, are the scores that you have down "finalized"? Hate to be picky, but I have Charles Tillman on mine and it says 7.25 points. He had a solo tackle (1.5 points) + an assist (0.75 points) + an INT (5 points) + defensive TD (6 points) = 13.25 points. I think it didn't count the TD he ran back on that INT.

I didn't figure that I would survive the week with Grant and Buckhalter as my only RB. This means that I can start planning for next year.

No, they aren't. You are right that TD's aren't in there. Neither are FF's and PD's.I have my spreadsheet set to import the stats. But the page I import doesn't have those categories in a nice to (automatically) read chart like the others. So my choice was to import the 200 odd players individually, or just wait until Dodds put up the final stats listing, which does have those stats in a nice to read format. If you can find an easy to import page with all those stats that will be up within an hour of the final game of the night, I'll switch. Until then, we have to wait until Tues afternoon.

I am disappointed in my WSL squad. Had scored 140, 141, 128, and 141 prior to this week's stinker at 69 (so far).

QB scoring had been really good, but Russell on bye and McNabb with nine. Cotchery and Coles both on bye and no WRS picked up the slack. For the six others, they put up a total of 10 points.

Just a pitiful week.

See y'all next time!

Oh, that's ok. I didn't know if they were "final" results, like they wouldn't be updated for things like TDs, PD, etc.I can certainly wait until Tuesday..Thanks!

Final results in post #2.

And btw, congrats on all who are joining me in advancing in Ultimate Survivor. These leagues are some great training grounds, aren't they?

2 immunities and a bounce

ill take it

i guess going wr rb rb rb is a bad idea especially when you miss on qbs (hasselbeck, culpepper, redman) and late round wrs (furrey, jurevicious)

Your leaving out spanking me 155 to 89 to move to 5-0 in the Reunion league. I think you were due a bad bounce.

Hey all thanks for another great year of PDSL's it was fun while it lasted. I knew I was done this week with no QB going. Good luck to those that are still in it. Also I would like to thank Twilight for hosting these leagues. I look forward to next year.

In MBSL 2 Cumulative, not having Colston due to injury and having Shockey and McMichael as my only TEs is like watching a slowly sinking ship as everyone is catching up with me.

Starting Lineup:

QB: Hasselbeck (Out)

RB: Westbrook (Out)

WR: Roddy White (Questionable)

WR: Marques Colston (Questionable)

Goodbye PDSL4 :link:
