I'm really starting to worry that Natalie is getting the winner's edit.

(Although, it would be hilarious... she voted off her own twin sister, the "Twinnie", first on her season, then went all the way to the end to win. Then gets voted out first herself this season and then comes back to win. Would totally own her sister at every family reunion, forever)

Be worried, she is. If EoI’s winner wasn’t going to play a big role in the final vote, I can’t imagine they would have gotten so much air time. The last edge of extinction didn’t get anywhere near the amount of air time that this season’s has, especially recently.

As many people who hate Rob, there’s going to be some serious backlash at the first person off winning the game. She’s had a serious advantage by being the first off. She was collecting fire tokens without even having a competitor. She knows every inch of where to look that she got 8 fire tokens because of it. She had so many that she gave Tyson a hidden immunity just because she knew that it didn’t matter to her. She still has to win so heck why not throw a HII to a friend just in case they get back in the game. She’s like Oprah. You get a HII, you get a HII...

Yeah Nick is clueless.  Michelle made a good point to Sarah.  Perception is everything.  In Sarah's mind she is controlling things with Tony but she does it subtly and the jury doesn't see it (well some may).  They see Tony running things.  Rob called Tony a boss.  If Sarah doesn't vote Tony off she'll lose to him.  

Not only has Natalie dominated a lot of EoE activity, she is well liked out there too.  Giving Tyson peanut butter and an idol (or advantage in the last challenge?) is another great move.  She's getting a lot of final votes from those people. 

Looking forward to the EoE challenge as it seems everyone has multiple advantages.  

Denise is sneaky good.  And likable.  But she doesn't seem to be getting the winning edit.

I get it....they wanted to feature EVERYONE in a season full of winners. But the amount of time spent at EoE and the amount of influence they had in the game was just stupid. Nick does absolutely nothing to earn that disadvantage that he gets to place on Ben, which probably costs Ben immunity. All so Natalie can have THREE advantages in the "get back in" challenge, a football sized jar of PB and TWO immunity idols? Ridiculous.

Just praying this season isn't ruined. Hopefully Tony, Sarah, Ben or Denise win. Not sure Denise would be an incredibly deserving winner (although she'd get my vote just for getting rid of Sandra) but she's not a GOAT. IMO, Michelle would be a GOAT.

We could absolutely see a scenario where Natalie gets back in (due to having THREE advantages) and is only vulnerable for one of the 3 TC's she'd need to survive in order to make the final 3. (she could certainly win an individual immunity in addition to having her idol). Horrible.

If they are going to come back in so late in the game, potentially with an individual immunity, I almost think it would be more fair to just have them come in as one of the final three instead.  It seems like it would be harder to justify voting for them to be the winner when they don't get that last chance to impress in the "real" game.

IMO the two deserving players are Tony and Denise.  Michelle and Sarah can make a case, but it's not as good for me. Ben's a pure goat.  I think someone like Natalie will be strong too, but I hope EI doesn't provide the winner.

No, I think she said she could buy one for someone else. It would be ridiculous to get all those advantages and two HII to guarantee final four. That said, she’s still got to win but she’s got the best odds. Rob spent all his fire tokens for the prior challenge but has his HII if he gets back in. Natalie got way too many tokens because of those buy an advantage/extortion payments.

I wouldn’t say Denise is that deserving. She made one move because Sandra made a mistake. She also wasted her idol on Jeremy for no reason. She’d sure like to have that idol now. Tony, Ben and likely the EoE person all have idols so Michelle, Sarah and Denise are going to need to with the challenges to move on.

I'm pretty sure that season the loved ones were all separated, so she wouldn't have been on the same tribe to vote her off.

I don't like the idea of the EoE coming in to win, but Natalie is so strong.  She is a great player.  I think if Sarah makes it to the end she wins.  Tony has been the star this season.

Watching this season really exposed what a weak overall player Sandra really was. I guess riding coattails and the "anyone but me" worked for her but she was basically useless and had no business being in this game.  To sit out every challenge, then to quit and not even go one day to Extinction Island was weak when everyone else was gutting it out. 

Sandra never deserved the title of "The Queen". Partivi was robbed by a bitter jury in Heros vs Villains.

I think there is a good chance that the EoE comes in to win (it may be Tyson, with them highlighting how he got an immunity idol).  It sucks, may not agree with it (and I also read that EoE is going on the shelf after this), but it does not ruin the season.  I've thoroughly enjoyed the last few months of this.  I didn't want the Patriots to win the Super Bowl (pick any time), but it didn't ruin my football season.  

Now if you have a family member or friend on the show and they get screwed by the EoE, I can see how it ruins it for you (insert Alabama football in the previous analogy)

Regardless, it has been a great season but I would prepare to be disappointed with the winner.

The biggest advantage to being on EoE is that you really aren't competing with the jury members.  You are only developing relationships with no backstabbing possible.  It's very cordial and by building those up you can gain a huge advantage within the jury.  In addition, I am sure they all discuss tribal happenings and who is playing well, poorly, has a chance to win, etc.  That way you know who you need to push to get voted off once you get back allowing you an even better chance. 

If I was in the final 5 of the main group I would try and push for a unanimous truce to get rid of the returnee as soon as possible.  Now the fact they could have an idol really hurts this for at least one vote but after that truce up again to get rid of the "cheater"

Agreed.  I don't mind the EOI concept but the last person return should've come back a couple of votes ago.  It's too late in the game now.  And that player certainly shouldn't be able to return with an immunity idol.  So ridiculous.

The only way I see EOE working is as follows:  24 contestants, when 13 remain, 10 make up the jury with a final 3.  EOE starts at 13, when 8 players remain, the 5 on EOE compete for one to get back in.  Players aren't removed for too long.

Players like Natalie, Danni and Amber have no business being on the jury, no less being able to actually getting back in the game.  With the winners season they wanted all the players to last as long as possible (Unless they quit, but why would a winner ever quit  )

I don't perceive her as useless. She is great at manipulating people, which can be a big part of the game. She admitted to making a mistake giving Denise her idol for fire tokens. I get why she didn't want to stay on extinction island. She does poorly in physical challenges, and everyone on extinction island is athletic except for her.  She has always said she knows her strengths and weaknesses. She said in an interview that she had just been on an island for 36 days with Rob being a mentor (and they slept on bamboo and ate off the land) on Island of the Idols, and she only had two weeks off before starting Winners at War, and when she was voted off on day 16, she didn't want to sit on extinction island for 23 more days against people she knew she was not going to physically beat and be miserable.  

I'm actually rewatching Season 20 HvV, we're like right at the merge.  Sandra's ability to manipulate Russell is a thing to behold.  She was the best social game player, at least of those first ten years.

I will say about Rob and Sandra that they did not appear to have missed many meals on the Island of idols.  She was beyond ready to get home though I'm sure.

But they aren't on EoE alone.  There are a lot of people and it gains every TC.  If they were all isolated by themselves then it would be a different story.  Instead they are able to bond with jury members where it will be a big advantage if they make it to the final 3.  The food aspect may be true but it isn't much better in the regular game.

Good points.  Mentioned it a few pages back but this is another reason why they should have continuous challenges on EoE instead of all just sitting around.  Not TC vote-outs but you have to finish at a threshold during these challenges to stay in the game on EoE.  Under the cutoff and you're out of the game for good.  

This would create drama and perhaps some tension on EoE.  As it is now, they all act like they're all in the same boat together and there is little doubt that bonds have been made with no pressure or fear of being voted off.  The person entering back into the game seems to have other advantages in addition to (likely) an immunity idol.  And like you said, they should have an idea of who they want to bring to the final 3 with them.  Not based just on their own perception but from the chatter among the other jury members out there with them.

My point was more to "if this season is going to determine the greatest Survivor champion of all time", it kinda ruins it that the first person voted off won. It'd be like, if... they took all the best boxers of all time and decided to name the GOAT by having a dodgeball tournament. It's not delivering on the promise by having EoE here. It's more like "Top Survivor", in that they're competing in a totally different construct than the actual game itself.

Redemption Island is really better.  Every week you battle one person, and the loser goes home.  People know when that person is coming back in.  Overall, probably not needed though and I think that is the route they'll go in the future.

Dude bails on an easy way to vote Ben off and then now that he's even further down the list (Michelle was 100% on point that he was #2) he wants to vote off Ben. Nick and Adam couldn't see 1 move ahead this season.

it might have given her some advantage, but she needed to be mentally & physically strong enough to make it work. she's a freaking stallion. there's only a handful of other players (Rob, Tyson, maybe 1-2 others) who may have been able to take advantage the way she did. 

and she did the right things by acquiring tokens, buying advantages & idols, winning competitions, and making a lot of friends. I don't like the edge of extinction concept either, but within the rules of the game, if she makes it back I'll be pulling for her.

and if it's not her, I'm pulling for Tony.

Nick... he's going to cringe rewatching. I had to chuckle when he commented to Michelle that Ben has to go, almost immediately after his own choice not to do that made it impossible. He could have been playing the swing position like a champ voting out Ben first and then riding the wake to get Jeremy out next. Just such an unbelievably bad reading of the room, and his place in it.

Also agree with the masses this is way too late to re-insert EoE with an idol.

I don't think Tyson can win.  Anyone left can use the argument ... you were voted out TWICE.  That would be a crappy jury to give him the win.

You definitely Outlasted while on Eoe.  But, while you did that I was Outwitting and Outplaying folks still in the game who could vote me out.

They really should use that as an argument against her winning if she gets there.  Her only rebuttal seemingly would be... "I didn't create the rules of the season and I've done everything I can possibly do given the hand that I've been dealt... the same hand that everyone else on EoE was given throughout the game.  I was voted off early and that was good move for my tribe to do so.  But I've survived and flourished on EoE and here I am.  But being voted off this game doesn't make you a bad player.  Usually it means you're on the wrong side of a voting block or you are blindsided because you are a big threat/favorite to win.  Look at the jury... how many of these fine people do you think were voted out because they are bad players?  For you to say you were never voted out and all of us were and that means we shouldn't have a chance to win the game, even though the concept of EoE is part of the game, you're saying that none of the people in the jury should have had a chance to get back in the game.  We played within the rules and we played hard.  To discount that here at the end is just not a good look for you, imo.  You are saying Survive, Outwit, and Outlast doesn't or shouldn't include anyone who is voted off, yet EoE is a big part of this season.  Why doesn't our game play count to you?  Some of you greatly benefited from advantages given to you by players on Edge, some of you were left fire tokens.  Is none of that part of the your story of how you Outwitted everyone up here?  I feel like I deserve to be here or otherwise why even have EoE? Please don't discount the efforts of the people in the jury.  I can fully appreciate what these players have gone through and hopefully I can speak for them when I say shame on you."

Yet here I am so I'm not done yet... I'm stating my case why I feel that I deserve the win more than you, someone who has been on the right side of voting blocks and/or carried to the end by players who didn't perceive you as a threat.  The name of the game is to outwit, outlast and outplay.  I used game plays to gain the right amount of the only currency in the game to provide myself a chance against these great players in the jury.  Outwit, outlast, outplay... I'm still here and I believe I have done all those better than you.

I get it.  Just saying she will need to defend herself against an attack like that.  Trying to get the jury on her side is the best way to go for her in this case.

Natalie was pretty instrumental when it came to "advantages" she was able to find on EOE. She has a resume as far as observing from afar and manipulating certain people in the main game. Just because she is on EOE... the game did not end.

1. Natalie found and sold Jeremy his "safety without power." That allowed Jeremy to stay in the game longer but also made Tyson get voted out again.

2. Natalie found and sold the "steal a vote" advantage to Sarah. She later used that to secure Tyson voted out a second time.

3. Natalie, with Parvati's help, found the "extortion" disadvantage that was played on Tony. He had to scramble to get the needed tokens possibly weakening himself.

4. Natalie came in 1st when having to return 20 coconuts back to camp.

5. Natalie found and sold the disadvantage to Nick who used it on Ben allowing Michele to win immunity. Ben wins if not for the disadvantage. Nick was voted out.

In short, Natalie helped Jeremy, Sarah, Nick, and hurt Tony. She's been making moves all along.

while this season has been entertaining I miss the old days.....whatever happened to trying to catch fish.....and coming back with a few like a boss.....winning fishing gear used to be a challenge reward....yeah they still compete in challenges but Survivor seems so much softer now.....I see some of their comforts at camp, benches, pillows, etc....they get stuff to paint with etc.....I think the physical part keeps disappearing more and more.....now it's all blindsides, feasts, and gimmicky advantages and tokens, etc....the "core" of survivor seems to be disappearing.....ability to catch fish or whatever doesn't matter anymore....the few hidden idols used to be a big deal.....now they are kind of a dime a dozen....the lack of food and comforts used to take its toll.....doesn't seem that way anymore.....they can just go shopping and buy some stuff with their currency....

I think that you are overlooking the difficulty of being alone on EoE for a while as well as going that long without any decent food.

I wouldn't overlook the difficulty of that at all. Natalie is a beast. She's proven she's tough as hell. She's experienced quite the ordeal and accomplished a lot.

It just that none of it took place in the actual game of Survivor. She's been playing a different game entirely along with the rest of the crew on the Edge of Extinction. You cannot be voted out by your fellow survivors, never mind being the first one out, and go on to win the game and have it feel legitimate. It's spitting in the face of 20 years of history and excellent gameplay on a season where they've been trying to hype up that legacy the entire time. The Winner of Winners, possibly being crowned the greatest player of all time, the best of the best and the largest prize pool ever. The future face of Survivor forever more. That person cannot be someone who got voted out.

This "twist" has already ruined and invalidated one season. Having it happen again, on Winners at War of all seasons, would be a travesty. 

My one hope lies in the fact that in the media run-up to the season airing, Jeff said that he thinks Survivor fans will be happy with the outcome of the season. imo this means a deserving non-EoE winner, because I have to believe that Jeff knows his own fanbase enough after two decades to know that nobody would be happy with a winner who was at any time voted out of the game. Especially not with this historic group of Winners.
