Survivor Season Forty Several - Harry Potter vs Voldemort! (1 Viewer)

Rachel and Sue might have screwed up by booting Andy instead of Genevieve. If they thought Genevieve had an idol, why not vote her out when they 100% knew she would not be playing it since everybody assumed Rachel was going home ?

And Teeny votes for Sam lol. Literally every move she made, every instinct she had was dead wrong.

On a side note while not a fan and not being a great player I enjoyed Sue’s game tonight. Would’ve been cool if she played her idol on Sam but thought see did an amazing job keeping it together when everyone was planning Rachel’s funeral

I really thought she might play it on Sam. She could have made a huge move for herself to show the jury. Everyone voted Sam except her, and she killed Genevive. But not to be. I will give her credit for playing better and being the rare person to keep her idol quiet the whole game. How those bozos didn't figure out she was the red paint idol bandit is beyond me though. Was a little surprised Rachel told Sue, but at that point it didn't really impact her game.

Very satisfied with the 2 vote outs tonight. Andy needed to go, he was getting too big for his britches as we say in the south. What a delusional young man, I hope he copes well with this back in the real world.

Genevive really was a good player, but like the players on the island, I didn't like her arrogance. Sam played the game, he outlasted and benefitted from a shockingly good play by Andy.

Rachel as many of us called looks to be the winner, it is surely her or Sam. I guess Sue has some allies on the jury in Caroline and Gabe. I'm not sure Kyle knows of her disdain for him.

Teeny is a truly terrible player, from hating Sam one minute to laughing with him and "Boy did you guys get me" the next. It would be interesting to see how many times she voted for the player who actually got voted off, it seems she was wrong on so many of them.

Odds to win (purely made up):

Rachel 80%
Sam 12%
Sue 8%
Teeny 0%

Teeny will lose the challenge and then get picked to go. It's hard to pick against Rachel as the winner as they usual make the final a challenge that isn't purely physical, which is the only shot Sam would have. Sam beats Sue in Fire.

Final 3 votes:
Rachel - Genevive, Sue, Caroline, Kyle, Sol, Gabe
Sam - Sierra, Andy
Teeny - None (although Andy could possibly vote here, almost impossible to figure out what he will do).

If Sue makes it in somehow it gets more interesting, almost enough of a situation where Sam could win a divided vote. I just don't see how it isn't the final 3 I posted though unless Sue pulls off the victory. If Sam or Rachel win, they take Teeny and the other likely beats Sue in fire. We shall see.

Fun season! 2 hour finale next week!

Genevieve won immunity, not an option. It was Andy or Sam.
Rachel blocked Sam's vote (for Rachel) and voted Andy out (also voted Rachel). Double whopper with cheese to get the jury to see both victorious plays.

Heck of a nice set of vote outs to get the 2 that had claim to fame for blindsides. Gotta love Andy for spilling his resume to Rachel while trying to get her Jury vote. She jumped off the top rope and landed the flying elbow KO.

Very cool to see Sue not tell a soul about her idol. And she's in on the correct side of votes. No clue what she is going to tell the jury.

Sam is just squeaking by each tribal. Agreed with above: He has to win the final immunity AND beat Rachel at fire.

Teeny is just getting Out-everything from the Survivor motto. Just here for the clout and paid social media / tv appearances.

Rachel just has to not lose fire-making and she's got the $1mil. Only person with a 4-page resume instead of just an intro paragraph.

This is Rachel's to lose. If she doesn't win immunity then she'd only need to win the fire challenge. Agree that Sam's only path is to win immunity and also beat Rachel at fire. I don't think Sue or Teeny have a chance to win. Sue may get a vote or two for her loyalty. Teeny has been clueless all season. They should do a montage of her reactions to various TC results.

Agreed. Whoever wins Immunity will bring Sue to the final 3 (where she will get no votes, I would HOPE). If Sam wins, he should go up against Rachel in fire.

If Teeny wins, I bet she makes Sam and Rachel face off in fire.

If Rachel wins....I would assume she makes Sam and Teeny face off in fire. She's already built a winning resume. No point taking the risk.

Sue could win immunity as well. She already won it once before, and she was toe to toe with Kyle in a challenge where she came in second.

I disagree. Sam can't beat Rachel, but I'd be shocked if he lost a Rachel-less FTC even if he wasn't the one to take Rachel out in fire. If Sue or Teeny won, their "winner edits" would be completely unprecedented, and even weirder than Erika's.
More specifically, Sue has been depicted as a serial killer and Teeny has been depicted as an idiot. Most viewers will be left confused and unsatisfied if one of them wins. Whereas Rachel has been depicted as a strong player (physically, socially and strategically, despite being left out of a few votes) and the biggest threat since Gabe left, and Sam has been depicted as someone who had power, lost it, but managed to stay alive, first by downplaying his threat level compared with others, then by being a crucial part of Operation: Italy, then by turning on his ally Genevieve when he had to.

I mostly agree with your final 3 votes, but after seeing the big discussion between Rachel and Andy, then Rachel playing her idol and voting Andy out, you could see Andy wasn't even mad about it. I took that to mean he totally respected Rachel's move and he also knew that Rachel had finally realized how big of a threat Andy really was. Because of that, I think Andy is going to vote for Rachel to win even over Sam if she's there in the end. Game respects game.

Teeny is awful and not very bright. she seems to be on the wrong side of every move. she even called out Gen's fake idol correctly, and still voted for Sam. I don't even think she would get any sympathy votes at the end.

we were laughing at Sue playing her idol. might as well have kept that as a souvenir. she was never in trouble because she's never been a threat. yeah she kept it hidden for so long because nobody even registered that she was actually playing the game. she was just a camp decoration and pocket vote for whoever was nice to her.

Rachel is the clear winner, but I would be okay with Sam winning if he can take Rachel out. like others said, he had power early, and has played an under the radar game since then, aligning himself with the right people and getting on the right side of the vote. the funniest thing to me about Sam is that he is TERRIBLE in every single elimination game. getting run out of all these contests by the ladies and Kyle.

Assuming she just wanted to show the jury that she had an idol no one knew she had

I'd like to believe she was stressing over being the ricochet vote as mumbled in Tribal and went with the sure thing 2 votes vs Sam just in case.

Rachel is the only one left deserving to me.

Sam was lucky that at points they could take him out, there were others that were considered bigger threats.

Teeny probably rewatched herself all season and still has no clue how much she was played. :lmao:

Sue was always the tag along. Great, she hid an idol.. so what?? What else did she do but follow others and vote as she was told.

Did the block a vote have to be used at 6? It wouldn't have mattered at 5 either I guess but was weird she used it at 6, seemed unnecessary didn't it?

Seemed unnecessary but there was also the possibility of 1) a 2/2/2 split and 2) Genevieve's idol also being real. which could then have maybe sent Sue home? I think the block-a-vote was insurance against that scenario, however unlikely it was, and it needed to be played by that tribal anyway so no better use for it than to prevent the 1% chance.

Andy was an insecure goof. I mean, why say all that to Rachel because she got lucky to goad him on by saying he’d never win. I know she was trying to bait him to come to her side but that made her realize (she said as much on the interview we saw) that he was much more of a final vote threat than Sam.

Andy couldn’t handle the truth and sealed his own fate. He literally convinced her that he should be voted out instead of Sam. I don’t think she actually realize it until Andy spilled the beans.

No way to know, but I legitimately think Andy was the only person who could beat Rachel at the final tribal and he messed up. He’s bested her multiple times even with her idol play last night and if he was smart he could easily explain that his social game allowed him to swing multiple votes and all she did game wise is get handed an idol at the food buy.* I won’t say she hasn’t done well and isn’t clearly one of the top, but she, like the hourglass, was going to leave a couple times without assistance.

* I will say that while I think Rachel did well, the show really did pull an Erica hourglass move with her. Giving her an idol in her fries is a bit suspect. She was in trouble at that point, remember Sol saving her? She had one of the last food purchases IIRC and there was a potential that she was “helped” like Erica. I’m not a fan of advantages that are given to one person, i.e. no one else had a chance and the person didn’t have to do anything.

The only (very minor) mistake was when they all returned to camp after Rachel played her idol, Genevieve asked her "was that the red paint idol" and Rachel immediately without thinking said "no", then revealed later it was in the fries. That means they should've known there was one more idol already floating out there. However, that knowledge didn't really seem to come into play.

It's just mind boggling that they didn't figure out who had the red paint idol.

Caroline did. But no one else.

I agree. As much as I'm rooting for her, this reeks of show manipulation. She got extremely unlucky when they divided into 3 tribes, but then the show through her a lifeline. And then they handed her an idol on top of that.

Two random thoughts.

Caroline looks like a serial killer in her jury finery. Almost more than Andy these days. Shining vibes

The editors and the prop masters blew it. They showed Sam’s vote in the booth and it was the last one pulled out of the urn. I knew it was Andy before the last vote was read. Unusual. They rarely mess things up like that.

Andy "won" in his mind by having the tribe view him as enough of a threat to have to vote him out

He won a return trip for season 50. Which is fine if you realize you can’t win. Same thing happened with Cochran in his first season. He was drawing dead regardless of whether he flipped, but flipping made him more memorable and more likely to get a callback.

If Rachel doesn't win this then there is something messed up. :tinfoilhat:
She covered all 3
outwitted many, including Sam, Andy and Genevieve
outplay - won 4 immunities
outlast - should.

Sam did he outwit? No
outplay.. Fire only
Sue.. If she gets one vote it's for show.

Like we watched two different shows. Rachel admitted she couldn't get anyone to vote her way.

Fun season and really compelling final tribal. I agree, I thought Sam killed it at the final, surprised he only got one vote. What an epic fire comeback for Sam. I actually felt for Teeny.

I wasn't shocked that we didn't get to hear Kyle's tribal questions, but I assumed that Genevive was going to get a lot of attention for that.

Really happy for Rachel, I do think she was dominant. She definitely had lucky moments, but she had some great strategic moments as well.

Fun season and deserving winner!

I thought Sam had the best final tribal anyone has ever had. I just don't get it.
Wow, I didn’t think so at all. He interrupted and it seemed obvious he was grasping at straws to try and make Rachel look bad. He didn’t beat Rachel once in an immunity challenge so while she had some luck, he did nothing to get her sent home.

You can’t build someone up as the winner and then act like you were just trying to use her as a shield. Of course everyone wanted her gone at the end, she was the best person left but Sam didn’t take care of business. Also, his answers sounded ok but they were just big words or said nothing. He said his game was creative and dynamic and some other big words, but anyone listening would say where are the facts or metrics. Point to something tangible because creative means nothing.

Going into final tribal I thought for sure Rachael but after the questions and final thoughts Sam convinced me he had a chance.

Sue really thought she was fooling people about her age?? 😂

Only people in their 20s would believe Sue was in her 40s because "40s are old". People that young have no calibration of 40s/50s

Sam did great at the end, for sure. But a former contestant once said that the final vote is often about who the juror is OK with losing to. I think it's easier to go home and say "Yeah, Rachel just outplayed all of us" than have it be believable to say "Sam outplayed all of us".

Rachel (Tribal) and Jeff (after party) didn't even mention that she changed the game forever by being the first to use the Shot In The Dark as a lure to gain information. No longer solely a defensive item now.. can use on offense.

Or use a 'not the only one to get lucky' rebuttal to Sam getting a gust of wind to win fire.

Nor mention that she Blocked his Vote during the epic Funeral Tribal.
Sam said he was correct on every vote... except you know the one for her funeral that he didn't even get to write down wrong.

Whole lot of answers missed for Sue or they literally didn't include her by the jury members. Did like the recognition of being in the 1% club as an aged female competitor making it to the end.

Didn't show Kyle's questions and he was easily spotted verbally by multiple people as the sole vote for Sam when Jeff asked. Questions must have been an obvious giveaway.

Rachel's game was a dominant victory on a gameplay resume and will be memorable/referenced for multiple moves made that are historical for the show.
Rachel will also be a fine ambassador/representative for the game on media appearances, game lore for the superfans, and 'the player' that the jury respects losing to (mentioned by Runcle above).

I didn’t even notice Kyle’s question not airing. I also don’t remember his bromance with Sam. When Kyle said why he voted for Sam, I was so confused.
