Please chime in here fellas.....

Second week in a row the commissioner of our league has not only let his cousin change his roster after the 12pm Sunday deadline, but let him change some players yesterday that didn't produce during the 1pm games. All of a sudden a RB, WR and his D changed mysteriously around 5 pm?!

As far as I am conference I want my $$ back at this point. I had debated not playing in this league this year due to some questionable trades amongst family last year, but this is ridiculous. The commish said "it must have been a CBS error"....I say BS

:goodposting:

If they change lineup after deadline (let alone after games), Id demand money back no doubt. Any proof of the allegations? (Screenshots, corraboration?)

The changes should show up with a date/time stamp in the Transaction Report on CBS Sportsline...

If the league is this dishonest, I doubt you'll get your money back. But I certainly wouldn't play in that league again.

If what you are saying is true, then that is not at all fair. I think a noon deadline is silly (it should be the gametime of each player IMO). I have played on CBS plenty and the site doesn't make errors like that. If I were you, I would compose and send a very calm, well though out email to all the members of the league stating the happenings with this cousin's lineup the past 2 weeks. Don't say anything about quitting the league, but just mention the noon deadline and what you saw (since you apparently were watching the live scoring and noticed later that his players changed). If all of this is true, then you won't be the only one who has a problem with it. Just make sure you sound intelligent from the get go with your email. You want to encourage an intelligent conversation instead of a big argument. It might eventually become that, but it will make you look better in the end if you try and avoid that at the beginning.

I have made plenty of changes in the past when I got a call to change a lineup before the deadline, but couldn't actually get to a computer to do it.

One thing to note as I've done this myself: If you have live scoring going early (anytime before the 1PM games) and don't log out and come back in, it will NOT reflect that the players were changed. This could very well be why you're seeing late adds/substitutions. This only applies to Sportsline as far as I know - don't use any other services. Before sending out any letters and getting egg on your face, make sure that you run the transaction report - being sure to enable all including lineup.

If you see late substitutions there, then you have a very strong case.

:goodposting: This caused me to think shennanigans once already... but the transaction report does have the time the roster change was made (again, CBS here.)

:goodposting: A couple notes. First, I think I would screen capture the transaction report, because as mentioned above, commish's may get phone requests to change players and not do it till later. If you have that then if the commish can do anything to remove transactions or play with times (not sure if that can be done) you at least have proof. Second, make sure you do check the transaction report because I know I had an issue before where I opened the gamecenter in CBS early and it did not refresh an actual roster change a team made against me, that was done before game time. Since I left it up the whole time, I thought something funny happened at first until I checked the transactions. One quick question, could you tell us the players in question? It is pretty damn easy to tell if their are shennanigans from the players substituted, i.e. if Flacco is substituted for Schaub at 5pm, then it is bogus. If someone was hurt last week and subbed then it might be OK and the commish just didn't have time. That has happened in my league and I trust my commish. Again, post the list of players here and I think you will get a pretty quick consensus on BS or not.

I have done the same, but rarely without letting the opposing owner know as soon as I did (and if I couldn't get in touch with him for some reason, I let others know (co-commish, another respected owner, etc). If nobody but the commish & the involved owner know, that just looks shady & there's no way around it. Even more so when you're talking about a commish & owner that are cousins. If the changes were legit & on time, they'd be idiots to make them and not let anyone else know about it ahead of time. That's just begging for trouble & it doesn't take a genious to figure that out. Then again, if the OP wasn't the guy's opponent either week, maybe the owner who was did get informed ahead of time...

I think the better route to take (at least one that is less likely to make you look like a jack*** in front of the whole league) would be to email only the guy's opponents for the last 2 games & find out if they knew about the changes & what they think.

Email Sportsline to find out who made the roster change request and when it was made. They should be able to tell you that information no problem.

Take what they give you and use it to confront the commish. Then request your money back.

CBS commish moves will be in red on CBS. If not, check for missing activate/bench player lineup changes. CBS allows commish's to cover their tracks and delete moves.

I never knew this. Sportsline oughta re-think this option.

CBS was doing some screwy stuff yesterday though...one of the owners in one of my leagues had the jets defense in his starting lineup at one point..and when i went back and checked later...it was a different defense. Since i am the commish and the only one who has access and can change rosters...i was at a loss as to how the lineup changed after kickoff. When i looked into it further...the owner doesnt even have the jets defense on his roster. Must have been a cbs error. Been using it for about 6 or 7 years now and haven't seen anything like that happen. Food for thought.
