Sweet potatoes......how do I cook them? (1 Viewer)

Any good recipes?

Do I cook them like I would regular potatoes?

Can I make a baked sweet potato?
Of course. They're delicious that way. You can also just wrap them in Saran wrap and microwave them. Doctor them with a little cinnamon and that's a pretty common side for me.

Or you can mash them. Or dice them and make some form of hash. Or roast them in wedges. It's all good.

The worst sweet potato recipes are the ones that sugar them all up or put marshmallows all over them.

Just don't do those things and you'll be fine.

Agree, much bettor savory. Like to rub a little oil or butter on skin with garlic powder and pepper and roast/bake them. Really good.

Cut it into wedges and parboil. If you have a grill, rub a little oil on them, roast them on the grill topped with salt and pepper. Otherwise roast them in the oven. Perfection.

I chop them and bake them with coconut oil/olive oil and a little sea salt and pepper. Simple and delicious.

Baked is fine and they don't take as long as baked potatoes, but be careful not to overcook them - baked sweet potatoes can leak in the oven as they caramelize. Put a pan on the bottom rack and cook them directly on the top rack.

Diced or wedged, put them in a glass baking dish with some olive oil and seasoning (I prefer olive oil, sea salt and onion/garlic/pepper, but you can also try a little brown sugar and/or maple syrup, or cinnamon, or oil/salt/rosemary).

Now that it's grilling season, try putting a little olive oil on a piece of aluminum foil and cutting it into fries or wedges. Roll the pieces around and sprinkle with the seasonings above. (Drizzle just a little more olive oil on top if the seasoning isn't sticking.) Fold the foil over into a pouch and throw it on your grill before you start up your dinner - depending on the heat they take 30-45 minutes. Flip the pouch once along the way, be careful not to tear the foil.

Bake until 50% cooked, then cut into medallions and brush with mixture of butter, melted brown sugar, and a touch of garlic salt. Grill over medium heat turning every couple mins and basting continously as you build carmelized glaze layer (but not burning it).
