Slimmed Down

08/01/06

It feels like yesterday I was holding up a crystal ball at LSU. So this thing is moving along pretty fast. It feels good. I have been through whirlwinds, ups and downs. And I was able to get my body back healthy going into this training camp and I am very excited to take on this year. I just can’t wait.

I just wasn’t healthy last year. I wasn’t able to proceed in the offseason program last year. It’s a critical moment where an athlete needs to be training. And I wasn’t able to do anything for five months. Coming into last year’s training camp I was a little overweight, out of shape, and I felt it everyday. Now, I’ve slimmed down this year. I was able to make everyday an offseason program and get my body back right physically. And going out on days like today, first time out, your body feels great. You’re bouncing around and it gives you a good mental state about training camp.

so yeah okay, mine is Michael Clayton, a lot of people got burned by him last year...but now hes back from all the injuries, has dumped a lot of the pressure put on him last season, has a tremedous work ethic, and with Grudens special contract to motivate him even more, I see him easily triple his yards from last year and get about 7-8 td's....

okay so who is yours? and why won't everyone else buy into it?

My prediction against the popular mainstream is that Jessica Alba will indeed show up on my doorstep naked....and ready.

Oh, you meant a fantasy football prediction huh? Lee Evans finishes in the top 10!

1. Reggie Bush's downside is RB22 in PPR leagues. His upside is RB10.

2. This is the year to avoid the Denver RB situation. Mike Bell isn't the answer. Neither is Tatum Bell. Neither is Ron Dayne.

3. Lawrence Maroney will finish as a top 25 back.

4. Javon Walker won't crack the top 30 WRs.

5. Carson Palmer won't crack the top 5 QBs.

6. Todd Heap won't crack the top 10 TEs.

7. Trent Green won't be a top 15 QB.

I think Jamal will outplay his ADP to the degree that he will have people wishing they had taken him in the first round. Like 1450 and 13.

I think that Chester Taylor will be a bust and that Mewelde Moore will actually end up out performing him. I also believe that Koren Robinson will be a top 15 WR with Childress as their HC.

This may not be out that brash, but I think that Edge will still finish as a top 5 RB.

I also think that Thomas Jones will out perform Cedric Benson.

RB - Reuben is not a value play based off of current ADP. Not top 20.

WR - Drew Bennett will have a big season. Top 20.

TE - Cooley will not live up to expectations. Not top 12

QB - Volek will pitch that ball around as a tryout for a starting spot next year. Nice to have in a QBBC approach.

I don't know that this is swimming upstream at all. Sharks have had Clayton pegged all offseason. He is probably my favorite value WR this offseason. His situation reminds me a bit of Boldin's return after injury. That offseason he slipped way down in ADP, and the whole time it struck me as absurd. He even returned that season and caught 50 balls. He was an absolute steal this past offseason due to that injury.

I don't have as much faith in Clayton as I had in Boldin, but he is my pick for the closest thing this year. (D.Jackson is up there as well).

My against the mainstream prediction:

Jamal Lewis and Aman Green are completely undraftable. People have them in their top 25 RBs, I won't even have their names on my lists when I do my money drafts later this month. Zero chance either of those guys end up on any of my teams.

1. Reggie Bush's downside is RB22 in PPR leagues. His upside is RB10.2. This is the year to avoid the Denver RB situation. Mike Bell isn't the answer. Neither is Tatum Bell. Neither is Ron Dayne.3. Lawrence Maroney will finish as a top 25 back.4. Javon Walker won't crack the top 30 WRs.5. Carson Palmer won't crack the top 5 QBs.6. Todd Heap won't crack the top 10 TEs.7. Trent Green won't be a top 15 QB.
I agree with all of these except the Todd Heap prediction. I think he might finish as the BEST TE in the league...

Lee Evans finishes in the top 10!
I won't go that far, but as I've said for a while now: Buffalo's offense will be dramatically improved, Losman will be respectable but not top 12, McGahee will be a top 5-10 RB, and Evans a top 15 WR. Aaron Brooks = top 5 QB

I agree...all signs point to Heap cleaning up with McNair behind center. I'm gonna sayMcNabb will be top 4 fantasy QB

Thief! :goodposting: CT will bust. Guaranteed. Also, Gates will not even be a Top 5 TE this year. Statistical Impossibility.

The only way this happens is if you predict injuries to these 2 guys.

Peyton Manning will be worth the 6th overall pick in leagues in which all TD's are 6 points.
He wasn't even worth the 6th overall pick when he threw 49 TDs :shrug:My 10 Cold, Hard NFL Truths - 1) Ronnie Brown will break a limb before he breaks 1000 yards.2) Andy Reid won't miss Brad Childress as much as the Vikings will miss Mike Tice.3) The Texans will win 9 games.4) DeWayne White puts up 15 sacks.5) Torry Holt gets the WR triple crown.6) Jeff Fisher is fired, and replaces Tony Dungy as HC of the Colts.7) The Jets, Dolphins and Bills combine to win as many games as the Chiefs.8) Dallas finishes last in the East, while the Eagles make the playoffs.9) Brett Favre leads the Pack to 10 wins, and becomes the all-time leading TD passer.10) Kyle Boller leads the Ravens to the division title.

:goodposting: But only because I disagree with everything.

Philly will have an offensive explosion, with Mcnabb a top 3 QB, at least 2 WR's in the top 30 (Brown and Baskett! ), Westy a career year.

OK, maybe I'm being a bit of a :homer: , but I can dream, right? Besides...it isn't THAT big a stretch! :scared:

Alexander will be a bust

- New Contract (bad sign)

- On a team that lost the Superbowl (usually don't make playoffs)

- D. Jackson has bad knee & Jurevicious gone (leaves Engram & Burleson)

- On the cover of Madden's game (alway season ending injruy)

- Loss of top offensive lineman

Not on my draft board (unless he falls to at least 5th) which is very unlikely.

Just making sure I got your quote right Statistical Impossibility?

:pics:
Your comprehension is spot on, my friend.
I think Chester Taylor is in for a very, very nice year and will surprise all the haters when he finishes top 15. He is vastly under-rated by my league mates. For example: I traded JJ and Koren Robinson for Randy Moss and Chester Taylor as a throw in back in June to the 2 time defending champ. I will upgrade at RB and WR wiht that move.

Maybe he is the two-time defending champ for a reason.... ;)

My prediction is that Jamal Lewis and DeShaun Foster will both be top 10 RB's. (as you can see they are both on my roster) I got them both for fairly cheap so I'm gonna pimp them as much as I can.

:bag:

5th pick or 5th round? because if you meant 5th pick, how do you consider him a bust if you are willing to take him that high?

Keep on hating, you know I got the better of that deal. :boxing: (Historical Note: The past 3 winners in our league have been the last team to make the playoffs).B. Nugget

Good guys finish last, Edwards destroys the Chiefs and is demoted by seasons end.
I think there's little to no chance that he's demoted even if the team stinks up the joint, but I wouldn't be shocked to see the historically vaunted Chiefs offense take a major step back this year.

Seriously, shouldn't the words "haters" and "hating" have been left in the 20th century where they belong?

You're right, but I was using it as a point of reference like "shark" and "guppy". I use none of those words in my regular vocabulary, but I figured I have to use words that people in the Shark Pool use so that we don't leave anybody behind. It is almost like a public service for H.K. :bye: B. Nugget

I predict FBG will suffer a massive loss of membership after the DEA breaks up the marijuana ring currently being run by participants in this thread.

That and Larry Johnson will finish out of top 5 RBs.

Agreed with the above.Kevin Jones will frustrate all those people who had faith in him last year and didn't this year. Top 10 guy.McGahee will have a great year and be close to the top 5. I see Rudi Johnson type numbers with more catches, but less TD'sRandy Moss will be back in the top 5The Atlanta defense will be a lot better than people think. Adding Abraham gives them two stud DE's and with Brookings and more health this year they will be easily in the top 10.Enjoy!

Agreed. I'm no big Jets or Chiefs fan but over the years liked Herm's Attitude as the Jets coach. But what did he do for the Jets?I was able to watch a little of the NFL Networks coverage of the Chiefs Training Camp yesterday and Herm was out running with the team in drills. What of his coaching abilities? I know most of KC's staff is still there but what does Herm bring other than the "good guy" personality? I don't have much to go on other that what he's done over the last few years and that doesn't seem to be much.I hear he has connections with the KC front office and that helped him get the job.

1. Deuce McAllister will finish as equal to or better than RB15 in FF this season.

2. T. Gonz will be #2 TE by a long shot this season.

3. J. Horn will finish as #17 WR ahead of Roy Williams.

4. TJ. Hous will have over 1,000yds this season.

5. Brett Favre will be 13th or higher among QBs.

6. Jake Plummer will be a top 5 QB this year.

7. AZ Cardinals will earn a wildcard this year.

His connections with Peterson were probably the top reason he got the job, but 3 winning seasons out of 5, isn't horrible. Not stellar, but it's not like he hired Marriucci.
