Toying with the idea of making the switch to blind bids for free agents in my dynasty league. Any tips on making the switch? How much for the year? Are regular pickups free after the bidding? Carryover the balance from one year to the next? Thanks for any insight.
Some of your questions will really be answered by personal choice - there really will be no right or wrong answer. Even the "how much for the year" won't really matter as the bids will just be proportional to the starting point.
The only one that I'd say can be answered definitively (and even them some may disagree) is that you should allow regular (first come first served) pickups after waivers run for the week. This will allow a strategy of people thinking that maybe they can save some case and wait it out for a player that may be off the radar or for a minor pickup like a kicker. Also if some one spends all their cash, they can still make moves.
For the record, my leagues start about mid-summer with $200 and the balance does not carry over to the next year. We also allow it to be traded.
