Tablet Data Plan? (1 Viewer)

Didnt find what I was looking for in a search so sorry if this has been discussed. Getting the SO a tablet (she wants a Kindle Fire) for her birthday. These may be easy questions but was wondering about the ones with 4G LTE capability is it simply a matter of contacting her phone provider after purchasing the kindle to add it to her existing plan? Would they force her to chance her plan to allow for more data or could she keep her same data plan and simply have to stay under it combining her phone and kindle?

Thanks for any answers. Almost want to just get her the one that only allows internet while on wifi as its cheaper and wouldnt have to deal with a data plan, but while I think she might be ok with that I know I personally wouldnt want to not at least have the option to get online anywhere. I guess if anyone has one that only allows wifi let me know if its a huge pain for you.

Does her phone have the ability to turn on as a Hotspot to share her mobile data over the WiFi as an access point? That could be done for free depending on the carrier's rules.

I use a WiFi only nexus tablet and it works fine because I'm usually in range of WiFi when I use it most.

For occasional low data needs (not steaming video or music) consider a Mifi device. My daughter uses one purchased from Walmart for $70 called Internet on the go. It's about the size of a stack of 5 credit cards. 3gb costs $45 but there is no time limit to use it.

I'm having one of our extra family plan phone lines converted to a data only account. Then I'll just need to stick the sim card into the LTE tablet. I'm with T-mobile and will have 1GB data for free for the rest of the year and back up to $10 in 2015.

The pain in the butt is finding a good cheapish LTE 10" tablet cuz there aren't that many out there.
