My team was pretty bad early on (59 Colts), and I made a very bad trade giving up Priest Holmes. However, having the the first overall pick in the draft later, and I got Roy Williams at 1.06 I believe, and made some good trades, I turned my team around in only a couple years and finished 11-2 one year. Then it got bad again the next year. Last year I made the playoffs with a so so team and have since traded some away from that team to acquire 2008 picks.

Porter & Stevens have mostly okay, and Janko's a kicker with a solid job.

Ravens are good.

Here was my draft. Aside from LT (lucky enough to get him with the 3rd pick), this team doesn't look like much now, but in 2003 when we drafted some of these guys were pretty undervalued and went on to do well for awhile. I finished 10-3 in the regular season, won a couple of playoff games, and lost in the championship game to Tight Hamstrings. I again lost in the championship game in 2004 and 2005 before finally breaking through and winning it last year at 15-1 including playoffs.

There was a lot of questioning of his draft at the time too (Blitz Birdz).At the time of that draft I think he was trying a strategy in which he threw a lot of RB crap against the wall and hoped some of it would stick since we can start up to 4 RBs in this league (2 mandatory RB plus 2 flex positions). Being inexperienced, he overestimated the odds of backup RBs getting chances to start.Let me say this about the owner. Really good guy first of all, still in the league, and still trying really hard. He's had a steep learning curve and the next couple of years were pretty ugly record-wise, but I think he's grown a lot since then (with a lot of bumps along the way -- some trades that didn't work out too well). I'm impressed with the way he's stuck with it when most would have bailed on the team once they realized what they'd done, and I'm pulling for him to do well in the future (except against me of course )

There was a lot of questioning of his draft at the time too.At the time of that draft I think he was trying a strategy in which he threw a lot of RB crap against the wall and hoped some of it would stick since we can start up to 4 RBs in this league (2 mandatory RB plus 2 flex positions). Being inexperienced, he overestimated the odds of backup RBs getting chances to start.Let me say this about the owner. Really good guy first of all, still in the league, and still trying really hard. He's had a steep learning curve and the next couple of years were pretty ugly record-wise, but I think he's grown a lot since then (with a lot of bumps along the way -- some trades that didn't work out too well). I'm impressed with the way he's stuck with it when most would have bailed on the team once they realized what they'd done, and I'm pulling for him to do well in the future (except against me of course )

Here was my draft. Aside from LT (lucky enough to get him with the 3rd pick), this team doesn't look like much now, but in 2003 when we drafted some of these guys were pretty undervalued and went on to do well for awhile. I finished 10-3 in the regular season, won a couple of playoff games, and lost in the championship game to Tight Hamstrings. I again lost in the championship game in 2004 and 2005 before finally breaking through and winning it last year at 15-1 including playoffs.

That's pretty much how it was last year at 15-1 and a championship, but things change so fast who knows about this year. I've made some good moves but also have been lucky too. Getting LT with the 3rd pick in the initial draft, getting SJax when the guy ahead of me took Kevin Jones, getting Westbrook for a 2nd round rookie pick when he was still nobody (later swapping him for other talent), then last year getting MJD with the 13th pick in the rookie draft... my team would have been a lot less successful if those things hadn't gone my way. I just feel like I've been very lucky.

Yep. He's learned a lot since the disasterous start. And the thing is, a lot of the improvement is due to his paying attention to current news and making good WW pickups the last couple of years, then trading that off.

I have a guty in Dynasty League I started last year. He won one game.He's already talking trash and egging us on to put up some money (was free last year).I like the guys who stick with it, even with a bad team. YOu gotta ride the wave and sometimes it dunks you. But if you work at it, you can turn a team around pretty fast.Of course, in the meanwhile, I'm hoping to pocket his money, let's be honest. QB's/WR's are the key to long term dynasty success. Hope to hit on RB's in the rookie drafts or pick up old productive vets for cheap, DON'T invest a lot in the RB position or your team will probably end up sucking down the road.

I didn't see this thread last year. I am no longer in the league, and this was my first dynasty league. In retrospect, it definitely could have been a lot better... especially at RB. However, it helped that in the inaugural rookie draft, I got Eli Manning at 1.11 and Anquan Boldin at 2.11. This was a playoff team the first year and third year, with an off year in between, and I dropped out after that. It was fun. I'm now a partner in MOX VI, helping FCP with a (long) rebuilding process for an abandoned team.

Yeah, I won it all again in 2007. Not looking so good in 2008 with a 1-5 record. Traded MJD for Brady in preseason 2008. Oops. Looks like my string of 5 straight finals may come to an end. However, a playoff spot is reserved for high total points team not otherwise qualifying on record, and I'm about 5th in the league in points despite my awful record. FCP ain't quite dead yet.

Here was my draft. Aside from LT (lucky enough to get him with the 3rd pick), this team doesn't look like much now, but in 2003 when we drafted some of these guys were pretty undervalued and went on to do well for awhile. I finished 10-3 in the regular season, won a couple of playoff games, and lost in the championship game to Tight Hamstrings. I again lost in the championship game in 2004 and 2005 before finally breaking through and winning it last year at 15-1 including playoffs.
