Spikes, Bowen Getting Back Up To Speed

WGR Newsroom - Wednesday, September 20, 2006 - 1:31 PM

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills returned to the practice field today as they began preparing for Sunday's home opener against the New York Jets.

Takeo Spikes and Matt Bowen both worked out with the team. Spikes said it's the hardest effort he's given since suffering a hamstring injury that sidelined him last week. Both are still listed as questionable. Head coach, **** Jauron, says they are both 50-50 in their chances of playing.

I say Spikes is 100%. No way he misses the home opener. They'll be introducing the defense.

I'm hoping Bowen stays hurt, not becasue I don't like him or think he's a bad player, but I'm hoping for a full year of development for ko Simpson and Donte Whitner. Whitner's value would be hurt more.

Angel Crowell owners should be paying attention to this. He did very well in Week 2 with the injuries at the LB position for Buffalo.

I expect this from Crowell wether Spikes is in or not. He is soooo much faster than Jeff Posey was.I think he has better hands than his brother, Jermaine. :)

if Spikes plays, that isn't necessarily a bad thing for Crowell. He would move back to the more productive WLB spot and will remain in the team's nickel package. Crowell is the team's most athletic linebacker right now and he should be very productive in the Bills new defense. In just about one full year as a starter, he's already become just the 2nd player on the Bills since 1989 to record both a sack and interception in the same game 3 different times. Cornelius Bennett did it 3 times, Bruce Smith and Darryl Talley each did it twice.
