Ideally you want both. But which do you want more of in a redraft/2009 league?
You can never pick just one or another. If an RB had all the talent in the world but no situation, he'd score 0 points (because he wouldn't get any touches, since touches are part of situation). If an RB had the best situation in the world, but no talent, he'd score 0 points (because he'd get cut for not being anywhere near NFL-caliber talent). You need some of both to one degree or another. As for which is MORE important... I don't know of any direct conversion between talent and situation (i.e. seven extra points of situation are worth 12 talent points), which means it all needs to be taken on a case-by-case basis. There really isn't any simple, easy way to boil it down.I think the best "talent vs. situation" comparison is Stewart vs. Benson. Stewart has all the talent in the world, but is a backup. Benson has nobody to challenge him for the starting RB role, but he sucks. Fittingly enough, according to ADP, Stewart is going as RB31 and Benson is going as RB32, which shows that talent and situation are both equally important, and that guys without one or the other wind up being the worst fantasy backs in the league (RB31/32 in a 32-team league).
