Talk to me about Zach Miller, TE Oakland Raiders (1 Viewer)

Steel Town

I have been considering looking to the waiver wire for a te this week. I was pretty surprised to see how high FBG had Zach Miller rated this week. I don't know much about the guy, but was hoping someone could give me some insights on what makes him a good play this weekend. Perhaps the Bruschi injury?

Tue, Dec 9 TE Zach Miller, with 45 receptions for 614 yards, needs five catches to become the first Raiders tight end since Ethan Horton in 1991 to catch 50 passes in a season.

(Yahoo! Sports)Fri, Dec 5 Miller had eight catches for 64 yards in the Raiders' 34-7 loss at San Diego on Thursday.

Advice: Miller - in his second NFL season - leads the Raiders with 614 receiving yards, but has scored just one touchdown this season. He's gone nine games since scoring that lone TD in a loss to San Diego on Sept. 28.

(STATS, Inc.)

I'm somewhat skeptical about matchup rankings that seperate TE's apart from WR's vs. a particular defense. I'd only add him in a redraft if you are weak at TE or have no depth.

I'd be all over him in a dynasty league as I think this guy has stud potential if he ever gets an offense that can keep a drive alive. He's the 8th ranked TE in my league based on total points and the 10th based on weekly average. This on a team that ranks last in the NFL in almost every passing stat (yards, attempts, completions, touchdowns, 1st down conversions, etc.)!

Does he benefit from being a better receiver than the duds in Oakland WR corp? To some extent maybe. But he's the only receiving threat which means he's getting plenty of attention now from defenses and he's still productive. His name is at the top of the list when opposing teams meet to discuss the Raider passing game. I think he's due for a top 5 finish if the Raider passing game (or offense generally) improves and can keep some drives going.

he had a slow start early in the year but, he is the Raider's "offense". Plus Carlson, TE SEA, had a pretty good day against the pats last week.

Also, I think the Pats lost Bruschi, that can't help their D

He's highly rated every week by everybody it seems.

The guy consistently gets 40-60 yds/gm on 5+ targets and that's it. He never scores.

If you want your typical 5 points from your TE go for him. You'll get it.

If you want upside go somewhere else.

I might as well take a chance on him - after all, Cooley has done no better.
:lmao:I own Cooley in 2 of my 3 PPR leagues. He is the #3 TE in all those leagues, averaging over 13.5 pts a game.As far as Miller, I own him in all 3. He is #9. If he ever leaves Oakland he will probably be a top tier TE.

Bloom and Dodds both have had ZMiller in their Top 5 TE's consistently for the last 6-8 weeks.Ive been riding Kevin Boss' hot streak, but dont feel comfortable going with him after his last 2 duds and vs DAL this week.Im either going Miller or Shockey this week. I think Miller is safer but Shockey has finally been getting consistent yardage, and hes gotta get a TD sometime in that offense, right?!

No but he will get you 5 points for sure.If that's what you want, he's your man.

I like Lee, Shiancoe or Carlson for more upside.

Zach Miller is the best receiver on the team and he was Russel's go to guy. If Russel plays this week Miller will have a decent day.
