Tampa Bay Rays 2011 thread (1 Viewer)

Do work Tampa, do work. No way Boston sweeps, but they probably win 2 of 3. That means you have to against Noesi, Colon and the bullpen by committee.

im rooting against the yankees lol
:thumbup:Rays still need a lot of help though. Highly unlikely they sweep the Yanks, and Boston has Beckett going tonight. Doesn't look all that great. At least we miss CC though.
Big game hunter hopefully has something to say about things! Boston got a little momentum last night though

Heading to the Trop in about 30... :banned:

But to be on record, I am NOT getting excited about this team yet....

I'm really impressed with how hard the Orioles are battling. That's a nod to Buck's leadership.

Anyway, congrats to the Rays for at least forcing the 1-game playoff on Thursday. Girardi has basically said tomorrow night's game will be a scrub-fest. There is NO WAY a spring training Yankees squad beats David Price. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if some books took it off the board. Otherwise, Tampa will be something like -340 favorites.

What a game. The TP was one of the best moments I've witnessed in game live. Swisher had just missed a HR each of his first two ABs....we couldn't believe Maddon was pitching to him with 2nd and 3rd and no out....he not surprisingly drills one....then we walk Posada? Maddon being Maddon. So the mood was getting somber, especially with the Sox score at the time. Great moment.

Several of us have noted here that Price has not won a big game in a while....we need him to show and 5 runs...thats it.

Hate to even think about Thurs....who do the Rays start? Shields on 3 days rest?

Shields pitched on Monday so that would be 2 days rest

Right....so I can't imagine trotting Davis or Neimann out there. Does Joe have the balls to start Moore? Of course he does....Hopefully Kotch is back also....the bottom of that lineup is putrid without him.

Gammons suggested he'd use Niemann one time through the lineup, then Moore, and a bunch of lefties since they have 5 in the bullpen.

I would run Moore out there without hesitation. Guy has the best stuff on the staff.
He looks amazing, but what is his mental makeup? Will the moment be too big for him?
seems very calm. His first career start was in Yankee Stadium in a must-win game and he mowed down 11 Yanks. I don't think he's a guy who lets the moment get to him.

Somebody on the Yankee broadcast was saying how good the TB scouts are getting James Shields, David Price, Jeremy Hellickson, and Matt Moore and I was gonna go on a little diatribe stating "Well duh, thats what happens when you have a high first rd pick every year". But then I did some research and found out Hellickson was a 5th rounder, Moore an 8th rounder, and Shields a 16th rounder. Price went 1st overall. So I do have to admit TB has some ####in amazing scouts.

That's not really surprising. There are a ton of great players who have gone in the later rounds. I think it speaks more to the minor league system of the Rays and how they develop players.

There's always Scott Proctor. If the Rays take their swings and don't all try to hit six run homers, they can very much be back in this one.
