Tampa has inquired about Randy Moss (1 Viewer)

For some reason, this would make a little bit of sense to me. Plus, haven't some of the early mock drafts projected a WR to TB early... or am I mistaken?

Moss needs a change of scenery to have any chance at new life in the NFL, what makes TB a bad fit? Maybe I'm missing the obvious here.

Moss still has 21 million in base salary on the remaining two years of his contract. I would be shocked if he gets traded anywhere. He could renegotiate his contract, but why would he take a big pay cut to get traded?

How about this: the Bucs trade Chris Simms to Oakland for Randy Moss. The Bucs then sign Jake Plummer, or maybe Mark Brunnel and have the guuy compete with Rattay for the starting job next year. Rather than drafting a WR in the first round, they can bolster the O-line.

Oakland gets rid of a headache, gets a QB who should beat out Aaron Brooks, and still pick up a certain big-name WR in the draft to add to Gabriel and Curry. Porter also has to get dealt, and will perhaps bring in a 2nd or 3rd rounder that can be used to bolster the O-line.

Is there a Raider cap hit impact if he's cut or traded? I realize that the current contract's signing bonus hit the Vikes cap when they traded him. But has Al converted any of Randy's salary money to bonus money to get under the cap in the last two years? I'm not sure.

Because of a change in the collective bargaining agreement this year, the Raiders could have traded Moss during the season and spread the cap hit over two years instead of absorbing Moss’ prorated yearly cap numbers all at once. They did not do that so they are on the hook for the full amount in one season. I have heard its 21 million but his contract has been restructured several times. Some of his salary has been converted to bonuses so I am not sure that is entirely accurate. Most of that was done for the 2006 season so they could get under the cap this year(they were way over the cap this year before it was raised). That’s a pretty good ballpark number though.

I seriously don't know why any team would want him. He's the definition of a team cancer: self-centered, lazy, and a QUITTER with a bad attitutde. He's Mike Tyson in cleats. Punch him in the mouth and he'll just give up - often in mid-route. No thanks. You can't run a passing offense unless you know the players will bust their tail to get to their assigned spots on time.

If Gruden wants to get shown the door bring in a slacker like Moss.

If Favre comes back, I would welcome Moss to GB in a heartbeat. I think Favre can keep him in check and Moss has stated in the past that he'd like to catch passes from Favre. Moss, Driver and Jennings would be quite the formidable trio (dare I say better than Indy?).
