We all know production is a result of talent+opportunity. We can certainly argue the talent, but here are the top wr's in opportunities (targets) through the first two weeks:

Steve Smith (Car) - 28

Santonio Holmes - 25

Randy Moss - 24

AJ - 23

Ginn - 21

Nate Burleson - 21

Steve Smith (NYG) - 21

Calvin - 20

Wayne - 20

Roddy White - 20

Laurent Roninson - 19

Houshmandzadeh - 18

Mario Manningham - 17

Hines Ward - 17

Fitzgerald - 16

Mushin Muhammed - 16

Driver - 16

Isaac Bruce - 16

Holt - 16

DeSean - 16

Welker - 16

Edelman - `16

Earl Bennett - 15

Chansi Stuckey - 15

Louis Murphy - 15

Justin Gage - 15

Randle El - 15

Notable names*****

Boldin - 14

Colston - 14

OchoCinco - 14

Vincent Jackson - 14

Greg Jennings - 13

Brandon Marshall - 13

Eddie Royal - 13

Braylon - 12

Roy Williams - 11

Evans - 11

Bowe - 10

T.O. - 8

Which of these are trends vs. flukes? If Bowe doesn't start getting the ball thrown his way more often I can't see his value staying so high.

Ginn's targets are inflated from last game but Holmes and Burleson have been the primary targets for their respective qb's in each game.

Will the Bills ever start throwing to their weapons?

Thoughts?

Laurent Robinson and Eddie Royal are interesting, as they are at the top of this list, but not getting alot of positive attention. Laurent is on a terrible team, but still could get alot of catches for PPR. I think Royal went out for part of the game week 2 for an IV.

The SSmith /Manningham ship has sailed I am sure after this week's waivers, but others that are probably available are in the bottom half of your list.

Edelman - `16

Earl Bennett - 15

Chansi Stuckey - 15

Louis Murphy - 15

Justin Gage - 15

Randle El - 15

I think teams are still settling in, esp teams with new offenses, new QBs, new systems, etc. So, BUF and DEN have nowhere to go but up in my opinion. I'm holding on Royal until Orton gets the glove off. Not sure if Bennett or Knox is a good pickup for CHI. Edelman is just an injury fill in, but good for Welker owners.

Don' forget Breaston, targeted 5 times (5-83-0) in his first game back from the PCL sprain.

4 of his 5 targets were on 1st or 2nd down, so he's technically like a #2 NFL WR, with Fitz and Q as 1.A & 1.B.

The Cards also passed maybe 4-5 times in the 4th quarter so his count could have been 7-8 in a competitive game

I think Breaston is a perfect fantasy WR3 in 12-team leagues for the occasional 7-110-1 games that will come down the pike. And it looks like he'll resume punt returns since Rolle misplayed a couple last week.

Interesting that Bowe only has 10 targets given that he was a target machine last season.
The defense is significantly better than last year, so they don't have to put up tons of points to catch up in the second half. They've been trying to hold on to small leads in both games, so conservative playcalling has been the norm.

I've been surprised by Bowe's low targets, since he's had a ton the last two seasons. Any KC homers have any insight as to what's happening on the field. Is Bowe the only threat worth covering, so they just don't go his way? Perhaps with Wade in the mix--a solid #2--Bowe will be freed up more often.

Its very encouraging that Bowe is making the most of his targets. 9 catches in 10 targets, 2 td's very nice. As the year progresses and Cassell becomes more comfortable and Haley opens it up a little more Bowe will start having the 7 -10 catch games.

Week 2: Bowe was covered by Nnamdi & still got 5 targets (catching all 5). Most teams don't even throw at Nnamdi's side of the field more than once or twice in a game. I'd say that is very encouraging.

Week 1: KC started garbage at QB, played a top Defense, & Bowe was double covered much of the time. Still made the most of his targets.

Assuming Cassell stays the starter, I'd say Bowe doesn't have another game this year with less than 6 targets.

I have Bowe in both my leagues...(one a dynasty) and have been pleasantly surprised with his catch % and TDs. Hope he gets more looks though.

The problem is Bowe and those other guys can't and won't keep catching such an obscene % of their catches. If they don't start getting more targets they're going to fall pretty quickly.
