Tatum Bell says he's the #1 guy (1 Viewer)

Saw a 10 second clip a few minutes ago that aired on Foxsports news as reporters caught up to Tatum Bell the morning after their Arizona preseason game. In Tatum Bell's words..."I'm the #1 guy around here, coaches have assured me of that."

Sweet. Those Tatum lovers were getting thin on ammo. Now watch shanny trot him out and let him carry it 4 times.

So is this Tatum being delusional or maybe trying to bolster his rep? Or did Shanny really tell him "Hey Tatum, you're are number 1 guy."

well tatum thought he was #1 back when ron dayne was actually #1...

tatum has always been #2 to everyone but tatum, so I'll just wait to hear it from Shanny.

Was Tatum traded?

This is interesting and I'm a little surprised more people aren't making some sort of deal about this. I know in the past Tatum said he felt he was the best back in Denver. But to come out and say publicly that the coaches told him he was the number one guy is pretty ballzy, unless it's true. I'm not sure how to take it, but it backs up my feelings that drafting him as the #20-25 RB is pretty solid value since I doubt his situation gets worse than last year.

So let me get this straight. Bell is the #1 guy, right? Is that Mike Bell, Tatum Bell or Taco Bell?

Or is this just a ploy to motivate me to draft a Bell?

I await the sarcastic responses. :banned:

Let's see...It seems like I've heard that line before...oh yeah. Jack Palance said that to Jack Nicholson in Batman right before he tried to have good ol' Jack killed for messing around with his wife. Hmmm...now that I think about it Shanny looks a little like Jack Palance.

Grissom: "Jack, it's an important job. I need someone I can trust. You... are my number one... guy!"

Are either of these guys useable? Really, if you look at what Mike Anderson did last season it was average at best. And somehow, some way T. Bell sniffed 1k yards.

But when could you just plug one of them into the lineup and forget it?

Same really goes in Houston now, unless Lundy explodes. I have stayed away from these guys, it didn't hurt last year. And I don;t think it will this year either.

IF(bad FF word!) someone takes the job out right they are a stud. But you have to pay a Top 4/5 pick to get them...

I'm in an 18-team league. We start 1-QB, 2-RB, 2-WR, 1-RB/WR...etc. I'm sure you can do the math, but either one of the Bells have value in my league. I'll be very happy with last years numbers from Tatum as my #3. Oh yea, Lundy was my last pick, #228 overall.......we drafted 3-weeks ago. I jumped on that wagon early. :banned:

Anderson was 9th in my league last year and Bell was 21st. Given that it's a 12 teamer, start two RB plus a flex, I'd say both had huge value and exceeded their draft postion.

I think Tatum just overheard one of the coaches saying "Bell's our guy," and in all his excitement he forgot what Mike's last name was.

As a Tatum Bell owner in a few leagues, I say, "#### TATUM!" Geez this guy is thick... are you TRYING to piss off Shanny?! :hot:

this guy said tatum is #2 to everyone----- now thats funny :lmao: :lmao:

So funny , not only cant he pick up the tough yards but he probably cant pick up the signs that said you are a 3rd down change of pace .

Did he start one pre season game , was he consistant in training camp NO ( One big run and then -1 , 0 -3 1 yd runs ) that is exactly why he will never start anywhere .

I drafted Tatum Bell in the 11th round yesterday as my #4 back. I love the Mike Bell bandwagon, because I know Tatum is someone who if I have an injury or bye week emergency will get his touches and has the potential to rip off a couple of big plays. That's more valuable to me than, say, having TJ Duckett or Brandon Jacobs on my bench and if I need to use him, hoping he'll convert a goal line carry.

Exactly. Tatum is a great #4 RB, way better than most handcuffs. I have him there in two leagues and I'm thrilled about it.

Broncos: No indication on starting RB

09/03/06 05:30 PM

THE NEWS

Denver head coach Mike Shanahan is still not tipping his hat as to who will be the starting tailback this season for the Broncos. While Mike Bell, Tatum Bell, and Cedric Cobbs have all had nice moments in the preseason, none has been able to separate from the pack. "I'm still totally confused," Shanahan deadpanned the teams website. "It's good to be confused that way; when all three guys play pretty good. That's what you want." The Broncos open the season next Sunday at St. Louis.

Our View

Here we go again with another Shanahanjob. Mike is as non committal as his starting quarterback, who once left his jilted fiance at the altar. Mike Bell still sits atop the depth chart, but we believe all three backs will be getting carries to start the season. At least the Broncos cut Ron Dayne yesterday, so we know it won't be him toting the rock this fall. From a fantasy perspective, this backfield isn't worth investing heavily in until one guy is able to wrestle the majority of the carries away from the other two.

For all non-owners of a Denver RB, this is going to be funny all year long.
:goodposting: ...unless you face a team that happens to have the "hot hand" that week. Nevermind - no one is that good at guessing :lmao: [/nonDenverRBowner]

That's the first thing I thought of too. Haven't seen the movie in years but still use the quote (at least my recollection of the quote) ... "Jjaaaaack. Jjaaaaack. You're my number one guy, Jjaaaaack".

I'm going to laugh so hard if tatum takes the #1 spot! a guy in my $$$ league draft today took mike bell in the 2nd round...actually he called out mike brown and everyone wuz like "wtf?!?!, a little early for IDP but ok...." Commish let him take bell like he meant

As a Mike Bell owner, it seems to reason that the only reason Shanahan is not talking right now is because he has had a change of heart. That's what it seems like to me anyways. I hope this is not the case, but it is very suspicious. I don't think M. Bell did enough to lose the job. If Shanahan used Mike for Tatum motivation, that kind of sucks.

I think it's shanahan being Shanahan.. Seriously he loves messing with the fantast football people.. He also loves to confuse the team they will face this week so hopefully they plan against the other RB.. He has been doing this for a while now and you guys continue to get sucked in..

Yep

I don't think it matters as much as most think. Regardless of who "starts" both guys will play and it will depend on who runs better on the day that will get the lionshare of the the carries. It will probably continue that way for several weeks/the rest of the year until one of the guys pulls away from the other.
