I was liking Josh Johnson the best....and think he brings some big play ability to the table, but they really just need to play Josh Freeman and get the kids feet wet. The Bucs season is lost before it started. Good luck to McCown. He will have his opportunities in JAX.

Good luck to Big Tree Leftwich to stay upright for 16 games. :goodposting:

Luke McCown should of started in Tampa.

I think expectations are for Freeman to be Flacco from last year, but Josh is at least 2 years away from being mediocre IMO. Not a big believer in Freeman.

I agree with you on Freeman....

If they toss Freeman into the deep water, they get on with the process of rebuilding. It's not really Freeman's fault they picked him so high. Rah Rah Raheem had clouded judgment on draft day, choosing his homie. You think Bruce Allen makes that pick? Gruden was a lot of things, but at least he was a brilliant playcaller/tactician. They just fire their OC Jags because they didn't figure out until one week before the season that he doesn't have the football IQ to call plays. Now they have the failed Lions and post Martz OC running the show.

By the bye week, expect the winless Bucs to finally come to their senses and start Freeman. Why punish Bucs fans with Leftwich? Just let the bloodletting get over with.

Buccaneers | Freeman takes over as top backup quarterback Sat Sep 5, 11:49 PM

Rick Stroud, of The St. Petersburg Times, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie QB Josh Freeman takes over as the team's No. 2 quarterback behind starting QB Byron Leftwich.

5 of the Bucs last 7 games are divisional. I would think if they are close to .500 at that point, he'll sit. If they aren't close, then I think he sits as well. I just don't see him getting on the field barring injury. Of course with Leftwich's slow delivery (he's winding up his first throw of week 1 as week speak), that may happen. But Byron is nothing if not tough.

I'm not sure Freeman's a better prospect than Johnson. However, he is ahead in the pecking orer due to where he was drafted.

:doh:Johnson was supposed to be a very good develpemental prospect based upon his smarts and his athleticism. He just needed some time. Freeman to me looks like another such guy, so the only reason to have drafted him was because the thinking must have been that Johnson was a Gruden player. Funny thing is that on the way to the scrap heap, Johnson made them think twice and they realized that they shouldn't just dump him, and of course Johnson has a one year head start on Freeman in the NFL.

Freeman is way more talented than Johnson. You can just watch them play and see it.

I don't know why people dump on Freeman so much, but he has a big arm, can run and seems to have a decent head on his shoulders. There was an article on yahoo a few weeks ago where he broke down some plays that was excellent. I am excited to have him on the team.

That said, I hope he doesn't play much this year, or at least until after week 12. The Bucs made a mistake bringing 4 QBs to camp, which significantly cut his reps. McCown and Leftwich got all the 1/2 reps, which left very little for Freeman after that.

The only reason I'm not big on Freeman is I see him as a big time project and don't know the QB coaches enough to have faith that he'll develop.
